Jucing raw cannabis? Scam or not?

So, I just bought a nice juicer for my wife. So far we are loving it and I am finally getting some fruits and veggies into my diet. Of course, I started to wonder about juicing cannabis. While at the grow store Saturday I happened to pick up one of those free MMJ magazines. I don't normally read these because I don't really like the guys who put it out. BUT, there was a great article on juicing. It was weird because I just came from the book store and picked up a huge book on juicing!

So, I plan on juicing fan leaves. I probably won't have enough to do it every day, but I'd like to try it a few times a week.

do it as often as you can. I try to do the same. I have not juiced fresh buds yet, just don't have enough to justify doing that, but I do throw a couple of hand fulls of leaves in when I can. It doesn't hurt that is for sure, and you do get a good bit of energy from it. I also like the flavor it gives the juice. Hope you enjoy your juicing. We have the Champion juicer, it's a work horse, we can make all kinds of stuff with it, including nut butters (we like to mix in hemp seed).

Hehe, sorry we already drank it! It wasn't much to look at (green and yucky looking) but it was REALLY good and gave me a nice burst of energy to work in the garden all morning. I am the type of person who would not eat a banana, apple, carrot, etc. in a day. I love it that I am now getting the nutrients and vitamins that I ordinarily would not. Now, add the healing properties of cannabis to the mix and it's truly a wonderful way to energize the body. Especially after a late Friday night of fun ;)

Salutations Tstat,

I'm curious but i'm not visiting this section often anymore. Anyway there's a question on my mind, here it comes: do you use green leaves from a mature plant which is done blooming or do you cut before the flowering phase has even started?

From what I understand people normally use what they trim off for training plant growth but the greatest medical benefits come from when it's mature juicing the buds and all.

As I unerstand it, fan leaves are just as good as buds when juicing. You don't get high from juicing. What you get is cancer preventive, healthy juice. I use fan leaves and I always have a lot of them since my son and I both have licemces here in RI. We turn all trim into bubble hash and larger leaves go to juice :)

So, does anyone have any suggestions for getting the most juice from leaves using a juicer? I love my cannabis/vegi juice, but I never get much out of a large handful of leaves. I was thinking of maybe trying to juice the leaves with something else, like a banana. I'm not sure if something like that would help. Any ideas to get more juice from fresh leaves?

This wheat grass juicer, auger bit/cork screw style would probably get a good amount of juice out, it's meant to squeeze juice out of tiny blades of grass... We have one like this, you can shop around a bit to find a good deal. Probably want to stay away from these cheap plastic ones (like what I linked to), unless you don't mind eventually breaking parts. We bought the cheap one, and its still good, but I don't know how long it holds up to regular use.

here is a cast iron tin coated one:

Apparently you want to take fan leaves a few weeks before harvest

Hehe, I like how that wheat juicer says its great for travel. Do people really travel with manual wheatgrass juicers? :) Pretty cheap though. I did find that if you juice on low and go really slow, you get a good amount. I then follow it with some soft fruit and it gets all the residual goodness to come out. I love this thing!

As for the leaves, I do harvest fan leaves a week or two before harvest. And when I do harvest, all leaves go to juice and the trim goes to bubble hash. And yea, sometimes I trim small branches, older leaves, etc. all the time throughout the grow.

Salutations Nosferatu,

...you would need to grow around 42 plants a year.

In Canada the already unrealistic limit of 5 plants (to avoid automatic prison sentencing) translated as 25 plants overall (e. g. no more than five 73 days sessions each year)... Though, now that self-growing is about to be made illegal altogether i can imagine it won't really matter anymore!...

Apparently you want to take fan leaves a few weeks before harvest...

If there's no need for flowers then shorter sessions become possible. For example, 6 sessions including 7 plants each would generate the minimum quantity as quoted above.

Another topic worth some attention is the warnings to individuals with gallstones history, pehaps it's better have this type of consumption distributed more evenly trhough time... I wonder.

I've recently come across these videos and articles explaining the health benefits of juicing raw cannabis instead of smoking it. It seems plausible but I need to see more on it.

Lecture:

Dr. William Coutney believes that juicing raw cannabis leaves is a dietary essential and can benefit many illnesses. Although it is better used as a preventative, instead of taking in 3mg through smoking, you take in 600mg but without the phychoactivity. In the second video he explains the science of how it works. I wonder if this is the real deal but I haven't found any articles from other parties yet on the subject. Sorry if this has been posted but searching didn't bring anything up. This could be the next wonderdrug if it loses the smoker/stoner perception, and is seen as a usefull vegetable.

I agree in wanting to see more of this. I'm already hung up on the word 'juicing'. Cannabis being a leafy plant doesn't by itself have enough natural moisure content to juice. It would have to be partnered with another substance. Let's assume water is mixed with it. So what you're really doing is grinding it into an emulsion. Rather than fool with all that, why wouldn't this Dr. suggest eating the leaves in a salad? If the cannibus is mixed with other substances like fruits, what would the acid in fruits do to it? In our bodies fruits neutralize (ph), but outside some can burn our skin (i.e. lemon). These acids all have a chemical affect to other foods they touch and/or mixed with. In my opinion, I'd have to see some herbal power houses investing their $$$ in this one before getting too excited about it. One immediate problem for them would be price point. There is no way the high quallity medical grades are priced for cannibus to be consumsed in this way. I assume the good Dr. had to use an example plant of some grade to study his theory. Every so often we'll see presentations that tell us we'd have to eat 47 watermelons to get a valuable health ingrediant they contain. Other labs and chemists would have to join in on the good doctors theory and see if it adds up. That said, I think the only way we'll make progress in Cannibus gaining the medical respect it deserves is respectable people consuming it and not being afraid to give tesitomy to it. If it works, why wouldn't we want to help our family, friends and neighbors. My husband and I attended a Superbowl party. The husband host is an attorney. He has an enormity of movement issues and in pain all the time. A cortisone shot was wearing off in his arm and he said I need to see if they'll give me another, it's my understanding they can only do 3. I piped up and said have you tried medical marijuana. He said he didn't smoke and I said, no, you vaporize it. His waning about it was stigma related. I told him, here's the way I see it. We're lucky to be in a State it's legal. I'm in progress of losing the use of my legs. You've already lost the great deal of yours. It's our legs and if the medication would help save us from more damage or relieve pain I really don't care what anyone thinks. It's our health and we're the only ones with the greatest amount of interest in taking care of it. By the look on his face, I could see the hamster running on the wheel in his brain. I hope he does explore it. His suffering a lot worse than mine!

when I run leaves through my Champion juicer, I definitely get juice out, and pretty dry pulp exits the end, so there is definitely juice to be had from the leaves. You just need to have the right kind of juicer to get the most out of them. Wheatgrass juicers would be ideal, but our Champion juicer works really good too.

I could see the benefit of eating them whole as well, but I would not discount the benefit of juicing them.

The thing about eating them is the tiny fibrous hairs on the leaves. It can easily irritate your stomach lining.

I think(just my opinion) the paranoia that comes along with a lot of first-time users, is what formulates the majority of negative opinions out there about marijuana. That being said, would the paranoia even exist if we didn't live in this "system". Perhaps if most people didn't grow up hearing/seeing laws against the plant, they might have never experienced paranoia upon their first few sessions.

If you can juice it, you can also blend it!

I used to make a lot of "whole" juices... green smoothies. Just throw those two fan leaves into the blender with whatever other fruit/veggies and some water, and there ya go.

I would suggest getting your pile of fresh leaves, and freezing them. Take out two at a time for making smoothies. You won't lose the benefits by freezing it, and you will be able to stretch those juices out as long as possible. :)

If you own a juicer and use it for cannabis, be careful! The other day I had a great idea to juice the trim leftovers after making hash. I stuck a wad of it in the Breville and it started bogging down. I turned it up and the fucking thing blew up! Turns out after trim has been proceeded for bubble, it takes on a cement like consistency. Plus I put too much in. Live and learn, now I only use fans leaves cut for juicing!

Great Scott!
I'm thinking about grabbing a cheap blender and getting in the habit of throwing a couple of buds (no leaves available so why not just use buds) in with a banana an apple, and whatever else I feel like in the blender. Mix with waters, chug it down. Repeat fairly often.

My end goal is some inflammation relief that I really really need.

Should work just as well as the leaves or better! The article I saw writtien by the doc suggested using whole flowers as well. Let us know how it works out for you I am interested on eager feedback so keep us updated DR.
