I'm sadly reporting that my test unit has died today. After a thorough cleaning and a session the unit no longer heats up, it appears my negative connection has come unattached. Anyway, I took a pcture of the VB all disassembled for shits and giggles.

It also appears that ISO had found its way onto the heater core as there are brown singe marks.

Wow, bummer. Yeah, a broken lead will probably kill it. Them electrons get to the end and kinda stop.

What was involved in the "thorough cleaning"? How much ISO has been involved? I've used a tiny bit to wipe stuff off, but was unaware it was approved.

TIA, I'm sure we'd all like to avoid this?

Actually not very much at all, I had dipped the supplied brush in ISO shook the brush out and then swabbed it, for the vapor tube I soaked a pipe cleaner wrung it out and then used it, BE VERY Careful cleaning the vapor tube as there is a silicone O-ring where the tube meets the herb chamber(which is coincidently the heater core) IF this o-ring is moved it will allow ISO/cleaner to touch the heater core. It did heat up after cleaning and could here a slightly crackle of evaporating ISO (what was left), I let the unit auto shut off after doin the level 5 burn off to remove any left over ISO. I went to have a session 10 minutes later and no heat so I investigated...


I don't believe the power leads are actually soldered to the heater core I believe it's actually stuck to the core with an adhesive tape.... From what I can see.

Thanks for the extra information. As I said, I've sparingly used ISO with no problems. But, for instance, I followed my common practice of a single drop on the front of the pipe cleaner so the rest of it wipes the tube dry. Likewise, a single drop on a bit of cotton cloth to wipe the bowl walls, nothing left behind. Nothing left to crackle.

The shifting o-ring bit confuses me, have you been disassembling it to clean?

FWIW I don't know any conductive tape up to that task, current density is too high and the heat would get most of them anyway. My guess is a crimp or broken lead? Perhaps a spot weld?

The adhesive used looks to be 3m thread tape (that white thread tape) only the positive side has an actual connection on the heater the negative ground is only held to the heater with the thread tape.

Thanks again. I don't doubt flooding the area with ISO will flood the area with ISO (which I don't think is a good plan) but you said "IF this o-ring is moved it will allow ISO/cleaner to touch the heater core" so I assumed you'd moved the ring to let the ISO past it? Otherwise how does it get out of the vapor path to the windings?

Again, I don't think there's a tape that will substitute for traditional connection schemes, my bet it that lead was at one time crimped in place somehow? Mechanical connections are critical to make electrical ones dependable. Maybe it got moved too much somehow?

This is, I think, the first such failure........

The only way the o-ring could have been moved was if the pipe cleaner dislodged it, which is what I'm thinking.

On a side note, it appears that my herb chamber and consequently that O-ring weren't totally in line with the vapor path, I believe this slight off-set is what allowed the ISO to touch the core.

The failure of this device, wether my own fault or not, doesn't change my thoughts on this product in any way. I still believe this product worked very well and was truly the product of TRVB listening to our thoughts on the original VB. I am very excited to see what march brings. The only issue I hope is addressed in the flowers only vaporizer is heat retention, if this problem is addressed and TRVB delivers once again, I will not be surprised.

Hey OF, the vb2.0 battery is an 18650 7.4v battery, isn't that what's pushing the Persei?

Persei is one 18650 (3.7 Volts) or two 18350s (7.4 Volts) depending. Half the capacity of VB basically. It makes sense to get higher power with higher voltage (lower current). DV, for instance, is 3 cells for 11.1 Volts.

I was experimenting with my vb2 and had quite a "Eureka" moment the other night. I felt like Colonel Sanders circa 1950 ... read on to see why. I don't have ready access to "oils" so I thought I would experiment with transferring some tincture to cooking oils. I transferred a little green dragon to hemp seed oil and fired up the vb2 to 5 (by a little GD I mean about half what I would normally consume - also I made sure the alcohol completely evaporated before boiling it). After reading that the smoke point of hemp seed oil is around 330 I thought it was a sure-fire clever experiment and I was in for a real treat. Wrong - the oil just sat there in the vb2 not even bubbling - looking very placid and definitely not smoking. Suddenly I flashed back to the days when I used to man a deep fryer and plopped a small bud into the oil. Immediately it sounded like the old days when I would plop a chicken patty or fish filet into the oily cauldron. It made that distinctive frying sound - woooshshshshshshshshshshshshsh - that of course shouldn't have surprised me, but did. Still though, hardly any smoke was produced. So, after I let the oil cool I extracted it with a medicine dropper and swallowed it ... not expecting too much from the small amount of dragon and small bud I had dropped into it. WRONG. About an hour and a half later I was nailed to the floor and ceiling simultaneously wondering if it was all too much ... too much ... the horror. Anyway, just another day with the vb2.

Trvb, any chance you'll be coming out with a car charger for the vb2?

Gee, I don't know why not. Given the output of the wall wort now shipped is 12 VDC at an Amp I'd be kinda tempted to chop off the cord if nothing else. I'd be surprised if Radio Shack couldn't set you up, IIRC they used to be able to match the various coaxial connectors out there.

Hey guys I'd like to do a review on the VB 2.0 I've been apart of the Vapor Blunt family for awhile now I purchased the first Vapor Blunt back in October but then I heard they were making the 2.0 so I returned it and got the 2.0 immediately I think I was one of the first people to have it as I purchased it the day it came out. I also purchased the glass attachment and I love it! I don't really use the Vblunt without it anymore unless I'm on the go. Anyways here are the advantages and few disadvantages of the Vapor Blunt 2.0

Advantages:
Small and sturdy
great flavour
Stir knob helps a lot
glass attachment is awesome add on
Can be used with flower and oils
Flavor mouth tips are another great add on
Good battery life
Great temperature control
Good amount of vapor production
Sleek cool design
Not to hot in your hand
No mouth burning at all
Easy to clean
Good charging time
Good bowl size not to big not to small

Disadvantages:
If you're tring to be stealthy it smells a lot when heating up
Glass attachment will get your herbs wet if tilted a certain way
Little bulky (very minor not that big of a deal)
Glass tube for oils doesn't fit on snuggly
In the cold doesn't always turn on (takes sometimes 10-15 trys)

That's about it guys its an awesome vaporizer overall and definetely worth the 250! If you buy the Vblunt 2.0 you have to buy the glass attachment for it makes it 100x better! Let me know what you think of my review give me your opinions!

Good review - I agree with almost all of it but haven't tried the flavor tip - sounds like headache material to me. Also, my glass tube for oils does fit snugly. I actually enjoy cleaning this thing it's so easy.

Hopefully well get some thoughts from TRVB.

You mean Thoughts on what went wrong with your unit, I assume? The units I sent you guys were of the original 100 built. We build 100 units after prototype phase, about half we destroy to test the devices limits. The other half get used by my friends and in this case I gave them out as testers to you guys.There are some differences between your units and the actual production ones. I will have to check with my engineer to see his thoughts, but without seeing it I imagine he will not have a concrete answer.
