My AW IR 14500 came in today. Shipped quickly from altsmoke.com, $8 each

http://altsmoke.com/review/product/list/id/1103/

Is it in my best interest dollar wise to purchase the Herc chamber now, and then have it replaced when the new version comes out, or just wait for the new version? After all these add ons I need to save every dollar here :)

update: these batteries rock, definitely recommend them! brought some nice clouds back!

I received the 3.7 Hercules today and tried it out. Filled it almost halfway 3x with 2 different strains but even though I held the button down most of the time, shook it after each inhale, I still wasn't able to create an actual cloud after going through 2 batteries and attempting it for almost a hour. I was getting small puffs and it tasted pretty good a couple times but never got anywhere near what Vitolo achieved even after attempting his method several times. I was using the HVD 7.4 top and had fully charged batteries and used them until the lit became dim. At the end of each session, the herb is golden brown and I probably went through at least half a gram so I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what I could be doing to improve?

I am still using the original batteries that I got from the 3.7 and waiting on the 14500s to get here, which should be by tomorrow so I'll give ya an update when I try those out.

I am using a regular Omicron V2 (not the newest)
I am using a regular 3.7 battery.
My herb is extra dry.
I am about to make a video....... no editing, start to finish from jar of meds to vapor.....
Here I go- (I will add the video to this post as an edit)

EDIT:
Here goes... Taste and then once you taste it....It is the shake (little shakes suffice)in between sips that makes the method work... keeping button depressed. You only get a sip per shake!

Another great Video, oh wise guy. Not to be critical, but I liked 'em better before you got onto the Charlie Chaplin kick....I miss the dialog. Maybe we can get someone with a thick Brit accent to do voice overs?

And I still cringe when I see you treading stuff together backwards......

Thanks again for the insights on how it's done.

My wife cringes when she sees me wear my wedding band on my right (or wrong) hand!

I can't help my silence.... it has become most comfortable to me to retain that slice of anonymity, although only vocal.
In your honor, OF... and for you alone.... (although others may get a grin).. I present your voiceover.
I could not get the Thick Accent Brit guy in here...
(I tried)
Fact is I only could grab a local Sea Farer.
Go back and check the video again.. I hope you enjoy the "Pirate-over"!

Love it. Are you using the original V2 top, or a 2.5 or HVD top? I am interested in the Hercules but I only have the original top.

Thanks

You, sir, are a deeply disturbed individual. No doubt about it. I bet you get fan mail from other sick puppies don't you?

It's been a long time since I cracked up that much, I'm not sure it's really all that good for me, but I love it!

It's a good show they don't know who you are or where they can get you......

Ever hear of 'talk like a Pirate day"? I once worked at a place with a bunch of crazy people we'd do Thursday group lunches on CBD (Cheap Beer Day) at a local joint (15 or so at a time); 'talk like a Pirate' was a running joke. We finally got asked to cut it out, it was scaring the straights. Great memories.

Arrrrg indeed.

Keep it up, I'm lovin' it.

Thanks.

I had an omicron v2, and after only a few days it broke, so I sent it back and they upgraded me to the HVD! Thanks for that!

Well anyways, I want to take advantage of it so I want to buy the 7.4v hercules, and the 14250 batteries for it, but I can't find anywhere to get just the bottom cap and spacers required to make the small batteries fit. The only place I see it is when you actually purchase the HVD upgrade, but since I received the HVD for free I didn't get any batteries or special case/bottom cap for it.

Is there a way to purchase just that specific piece from the company? Whatever I need in order to use the small 14250 batteries with my v2 omicron battery tube.

If you have the 3.7 Hercules and don't have the 14500 batteries, I highly recommend you buy some because it'll make the Hercules perform SO much better as well as start up more quickly. I barely got clouds when I used the original 3.7 batteries maybe because they were used so much in the past but when I switched it to the AW IMR 14500 battery, the clouds were coming NON-STOP. I went through over a gram in a hour which was about 4 sessions, by the time I got to the 4th session I had to switch to the 2nd battery but that was only because I practically held the button down the entire time with 1 second cool downs every so often. Each load was at least .25g and I was amazed that even after so many hits, when I checked to see if it was golden brown, there was still plenty of greens.
Great product and I can't wait for the v2 of Hercules :D

Thus far that's the only way, I assume for reasons I'm sure you understand.

However, very soon D9 is releasing a shorter tube for V2 to allow the use of the better performing AW14500 (note the post between yours and this one). That tube will do the job for you and make a shorter V2 as well in the process. I'd wait a bit.

I'm not sure I do understand why :/

Is there anything I can do in the mean time? I already have the hercules, and I already ordered the batteries online. I was very frustrated to find out I needed ANOTHER piece. I've already spent 130$ for the both. Are there any battery extenders or spacers I could use to make it work when my batteries get here?

Unfortunately I got the 7.4v which requires 2 of the small batteries in order to run, unless they sell a longer version of the 7.4 that is the same size as the standard omicron batteries. The 3.7v hercules sounds great with those other batteries, but I wanted the option to use herb AND wax, which the 3.7v can't do.

A simple spacer would work at the bottom of the stack. But thus far all the ones folks have found have been a shade too big to fit (15mm not 14). A couple of guys have used machine screws with a nut on the other end wrapped with tape so only the ends show. You want 15mm in both cases.

FWIW, while I feel for your point of spending the money to upgrade your unit, the decision was yours.

Yes you're right it was my decision to buy it. I had just gone through my 3rd cartridge that started leaking, and wanted to spend some extra money on a long lasting cart like the hercules because in the long run it will be cheaper not having to buy replacement cartridges.

Anyways, do you think these spacers would work?

http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S001414

They say they will work for the 14500 battery, which I know is the same width as the 14250's, so maybe these spacers would work?

Or maybe since it specifies 15mm. http://www.lighthound.com/15mm-Charging-Spacer-Aluminum_p_25.html
or http://www.lighthound.com/Magnetic-Spacer-for-Charging-CR2-or-14250-Battery_p_1048.html

They say they are meant for charging, but does that mean I can't use them for omicron use?

OK your first and third suggestions have possibilities but the LightHound one is known to be too big.

The magnets will work (at least in theory, nobody ever came back and confirmed AFAIK) the problem is where and how. You need the right length stack (15mm) of course, but it can't really work anywhere but in the middle, which is OK if the stack doesn't scramble up in there and short a battery out. My suggestion is to again wrap the lot with tape to make the stack closer to 'bore size'.

Otherwise the plated magnets should handle the current, they're not the most efficient, but they should take discharge currents as well as charging you'd think.

Good luck, sounds like you're on it.

Awesome! Thanks for the help! Just to clarify though because I'm not really experienced in this area. I just want to make sure I do it right when I get them.
I stack the magnets to the right height, wrap some electric tape around them (I'll probably wrap enough to make it the same thickness as the battery), and throw that in the middle of the 2 batteries. Then screw the cap on a voila, 7.4v. Is this correct?

Yup.

I'd probably make it a mm or two undersize so it went in and out easily?

Good luck.

Whoa, whoa.... hold up a bit.

You CAN NOT run a 7.4 Hercules on an Omicron HVD.

No, the two small HVD batteries are not IMR and will not have enough juice in them to run it for long enough, if any. You can try but you will be charging before your first hit. The HVD is to give you a non regulated top(4.2v instead of 3.7v) at 3.7v mini setup or the original battery. You can also get 7.4v for higher ohm cart use but the Herc/Hammer/Bender use too much power. With a passthrough this should be possible, but not portable.

The HVD option was for people to use their Persei carts on their Omicron for a more travel friendly package. Only way you can use a herc 7.4v with the Omicron is with the passthrough.

Damn :/ that's dissapointing. Where can I buy the pass through?

What are my options? Can I get a persei bottom to fit persei batteries? Or where can I get a pass through? Are there aw imr batteries sold for the omicron v2 tube?

The pass through is not out yet. You need a Persei. There are no batteries that fit the Omicron, that will hold power long enough for the herc

EDIT: Just did some more 3.7v herc testing with the Vitolo method in the Video. I am using fresh AW 14500's and the HVD top. I did everything pretty much exact to what he did and got some good vapor. Not quite as thick as in the video, but I think that is all subject to Lighting. I am noticeably more medicated a couple puffs in. :D

EDIT #2: I find that shaking like the old "rubber pencil trick" we all did in school works better than up and down.

Prob could of gone a little bit more
