Okay after some more rounds with the herc and 1 cleaning I have noticed that a big black ball of residue forms at the base of my ceramic rod I think it may just be leftover matter from the extract that isn't honey gold pure but still really nice.. I notice it starting to build up again and it makes me feel like it ruins the taste a bit when I load fresh wax but it still rocks out clouds like a champ and a few of the rips have that nice tasty flavor.. anyone see or have this? do you think it is just impurities in my stuff? I went back to a 5 ohm cart earlier and just thought it had a better taste it it. maybe i just need another cleaning but now i see the gripe of everytime after it is cleaned i lose more oil to it. maybe ill just dry burn and scrape clean? thoughts or opinions appreciated

I recently bought a Persei and I absolutely love it..and now all my friends are going to buy them. I I have two questions . What batteries do I use to get 4.3-5.2 volts. Second after using the Hercules I noticed it was leaking lots of oil. I is this normal?? I've attached pics.

yea, it's a known issue, if you read dubc and thc sci's last posts, i think vitolo's too,
they address it.

the oil gets to the outside of the stainless case because one or all of the following, your not inhaling when the button is pressed longer then 8 seconds, your not cooling it down by inhaling, these two allow vapor to collect inside and when it hits colder parts of the Hercules it reconstitutes into oil, and the last one inhaling into the mouth piece, this pushes vapor back into the Hercules and reconstitutes in all parts of the device and gets gummed up.

Hey Big Guy, did you mean exhale into the MP? If so, it makes good sense to me. If not.....

There is one more much larger reason/problem.

The Hercs leak oil into the heater base. I know the .2g number has been repeated, but mine has held over a gram. When the base gets hot enough, the oil oozes out and (when using the "suck hard" method) is then bought back into the chamber through the air holes part way up. This clearly shows up with lots of residue below the external air holes, but little or none above - The photographs from Riggs128 show this clearly, as does my own. (I AM saying the oil in the heater base leaks out the threaded end, and not that it comes back out the holes by which it entered. - Take off the heat shield, press the button and watch.)

One further thing no one seems to have mentioned: When first using a tank, they absorb .1 to .2 grams, just like the TV DART does. Though if you get it hot enough, most of this will vape out.

Personally, I'm waiting for the heater "fix" - the current setup is too wasteful for me to use.

I have noticed this too.
Seems like mine holds half a gram or more inside the heater.

I have 2 HERCULES - just waiting for the fixes then I can start using them again.
In the meantime I have learn how to use the 5.0 carts with success.
However of all the gizmo's I have I really like the 2.4 cart setup the best.
The SS tubes looks like a nice accessory to own as well.
A single (RCR123 3.0V battery) or (AW 1835 3.7V) with a short tube (sheath) and some CO2 Oil looks like a potential setup:
DELTA 9 Sells the adapter to fit the tread: PURE GOLD works well with these however the CO2 Oil is less pricey!

Does anyone else notice residue building at the bottom of the rod? So I started reading G's posts and I really tried to keep the oil in the tank and it worked for the first few rips when I started inhaling after 3 seconds and then inhaled for another 5 or so with the button and another 5 or so after i realeased the button. it took like 5 rips to warm it up and then I got several very nice not super cloudy but very nice tastey rips and this went on for about 5 or so rips and then I could tell even with my after inhales the herc got warm like it does after continued operation and i could hear the oil dripping down where the element was and i can always tell because when i inhale you can hear it bubble where there is wax down at the bottom.. maybe I just need to keep it cool and not take so many back to back rips to keep it in the tank? I will test more later

Hi evreyone,
I have a question. I see you use high quality concentrates; I don't have access to that kind of things unless I make them myself (in process :p ).
Anyway, I would like to have a vaporizer I could use with the concentrates I can usually get (marocco style):
- Culero:
- Pollem :http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7054/6934634089_ae4bfce404_z.jpg
(maybe better quality than this photo)

Do you the Persei can handle these concentrates?
Thank you in advance.

EDIT: I see in vaporpedia that kief does not work well, so I assume pollem won't neither...

overvaped,
can I know which hercules would work best for me. and why. and one more thing. does the oil and herb do essential oils or only wax?

I need a little help, ideas....
I have had my persei for just over two weeks mow.
It has been going great and i am super happy!
I started with the 3.7 herc with herb and filling a 2.4 cart and got that going, having great results for the first week.
I finished the 2.4 cart and started with the 7.4 herc which was also going great, i asked here how to fill the oil chamber, did it and had great results. Flled it a second time with the same results. Have been having great results with herb at 7.4 gong real slow but having great success. Then i filled a 5.0 cart and got it going this too was going great for about a week now.
This evening i used it and all was fine when i went to use it next the blue light started going out immediately.
I thought the batteries were low maybe so i put them in the charger and the lamp stays green so they are charged.
Put them back in, i read of testing if the light works without a cart and this is the case.
With no cartridge the light goes on and as soon as i put on either the 7.4 herc or the 5.0 cart the lights goes out directly.
With the 3.7 batteries and the 2.4 cart or the 3.7 herc it works great so it is just the 7.4 with carts....
What do i need to do, any tips, ideas?

Dollars to doughnuts you've lost one of the 18350s, probably by discharging it too far. What you see now is it totally failing when called on for more power than lighting the light.

In use it's a series deal. If one battery goes flat before the other (that almost has to be the case), the stronger one can try to charge the other backwards even. Since IMRs don't have protection circuits this is a risk that can't be protected against. Persei doesn't know to shut down when the total voltage gets lower than say 4 Volts since that could be a very fresh 18650 in 3.7 Volt mode.

I'd order another pair of them. Worst case I've lied to you and you now have a (useful) spare set. You don't want to get just one new one, it's sure to kill the weak one in the same way first chance it gets. Best protection is to recharge regularly.

Good luck.

wait...I just ordered a 7.4 online. does that mean I get the old heater core?

Yes, you will need to contact us mid Feb to get the replacement parts, IE bottom adapter, outside shell, and new mouth piece, then when the heater cores come out it will be available to upgrade.

Sweeeeet, are different tanks still in the plans for different kinds of waxes?

Yes, this is def in the development phase, the hercules has the potential to provide the largest amount of vapor when working with the correct combo, Currently we are testing it trying to vaporize .3 at a single given time, if all goes well you should see a cloud monster in the next few months that can not be matched in vapor production and quality of parts.

Awesome G, i love my herc, but if your going to make it hit harder and more efficent, cant complain, id love to be able to load up a dabs worth all the way up to maybe .3-.5, for real world testing purposes!!!!:bowdown:

All in good time my friend all in good time. With the feedback we got from the Hercules initial users we are able to make it better, the way the Herc is set up its easy to upgrade because its modular. This is incorporated into its design and all our other designs, and with the current upgrades we have for it its going to stand out.

Well i have been looking into batteries, and i have a question..
I am in Amsterdam and would prefer not to have to send for them from the US, is it possible i will find them here.
I found one eu site selling another brand efest they are 18350 and 3.7v 800 mAh would this workor is not recommended?
If i find the right size and voltage will they work?

I don't know the brand, but assuming they're good quality they should work at least OK I'd think. If it were me, and they were not over expensive, I'd give them a try. With Persei the chief danger is probably overheating in the batteries. Stay aware of how hot it is in your hand and you should be fine.

Best wishes.
