Arizer Solo

SWEET that was exactly my idea. Last comparison, solo vs DBV (found it for 140-160)? Does the solo still beat it or at least keep up (ie am I giving up allot). I was unable to find a picture of the McDonald's cup mod, anyone have it handy?

The DBV/SSV/LSV is/are a totally different animal. IME the hits can be bigger with the 7th Floor vapes, but again I'd still reach for my Solo over my DBV almost any day of the week. Its hard to beat a two minute to vapor warm-up time. The Solo is obviously also infinitely more portable than the DBV. My table vapes pretty much never get vaped outside my bedroom or office, while the Solo goes everywhere around and outside the house with me.

Put it this way: the Solo could've saved me a lot of money if it had been my first vape. I almost certainly would not have bought an EQ, PUFFiT, Vapor Box, Iolite if I had had the Solo first. And it's continued to save me money after purchasing it too, because it's mostly stemmed my VAS. I'm still just as satisfied as I was on the first day with my Solo. I'm sure you'll love yours too.

And IMO you don't even really need to the Stealth Adapter for movie theatre use.

Solo vs. DBV is sort of apples and oranges, direct draw vs. whip. DBV does hit harder and IMO is one of the best whip vapes. OTOH, I think Solo tastes a little cleaner, so I think it balances out. I view them as complementary, and I go back and forth with them. With either one I find myself pretty well medicated at the end of a session.

Solo is the best of both worlds, and I used mine for a dialy desk vape for months, plugged in. There are nice stem accessories available at Planetvape.ca and hopefully not to far in the future more specialized water attachments. I have 2 solos, I liked it so much I wanted to get a second for long term back up. I still have not worn out my first one that I bought a year ago, it's running just as good as ever. Best wishes to all the soon to be solo owners! I don't regret getting mine in any way.

Here we go,

3G's of Kief

Arizer Extreme Q stir tool, if you dont have one of these i HIGHLY recommend getting one as the flat end fits perfectly for pressing the buds/kief into your stems, also the pointy end perfectly removes buds from the stems (Even after i managed to snap it on an electric cig which i turned into an "E-Joint")

Easiest way of loading a stem by FAR, i used to drop a pinch in, too messy believe it or not lol

I got about an hour and a half out of THAT.

It went VERY well with Django Unchained, which on another note, was a VERY good film

If you havent tried kief in it, i would recommend trying it ASAP lol

Sorry man im obviously a n00b. Well the power adapter from my searching seems you can use an universal as long as its a high quality/meets the specs (9v/5amps+). Regardless 3hrs is a long time and I doubt I would ever need more than that before getting to an outlet to recharge.

The just of my question is am I giving up alot getting the portable solo vs a plug-in? My thinking is that if lets say I am giving up a tiny bit yet gaining portability then its worth it. From my impression this vap. seems to be very high quality. So whats really the logic/benefit in getting a plug in?
I suspect most Solo users are like me - I have a Q but don't use it anymore because the Solo works so well.

Iv'e had my Solo for around two months now and totally love it! It definitely is one of the best portables out there at any price. Just got the PV straight stems last week and they are sweet.... much better air flow... That being said, the only negative i see is the fact that u have to stir the load with the Solo in order to get full extraction and even browning. I usually load about .15g in a stem and set the temp. to level 4. I take about 4 tasty moderately large hits, then stir and crank it up to level 5 for 4 more hits to finish off the bowl, by then I'm usually pretty toasted LOL...My question is how do u guys stir the load for maximum extraction? The bowl is so small that a lot of herb falls to the table when I attempt to stir. I have even tried dumping the load out and re-packing it midway through the session, kind of a hassle though. Like I said, IMHO The Solo is an almost perfect portable except for the stir issue. A number of the new portables coming out don't require stirring(a big plus in my view). However, in most cases the performance and vapor quality is inferior to that of the Solo. anybody else out there get pissed off at having to stir??

I stirred a couple of times by dumping it into my hand cause as you said hard to do it in the bowl. I don't really think stirring is necessary for me but I run my bowl a lot longer then you do. I have dark herb when done.

Yeah, iv'e tried a stem or two without stirring, but i end up with about 25% of the bowl still pretty green by the screen..

Try taking more hits even though the taste isn't as good. I personally don't find it offensive and still better then my other vapes. If I told you how many hits I really get with good vapor you wouldn't believe me and then I run the stem again later on. I have only ran out of vape a few times before I dump the stem. I mostly dump it no matter what sometime in the second run. The only times that I recall running out of vape is when I used water and I still only do that on 4-5.

My suggestion would be to try packing less. I've never had to stir and my abv comes out uniformly dark brown. I use a domed screen so that reduces my bowl size by maybe a third? Oh yea, forgot to ask, what settings do you use? I start off at 3 and end at 7.

Thanks 22, That makes sense. a slightly lesser load amount and a domed screen so the herb will be closer to the base of the heating chamber. That's great that you're getting even dark brown abc. I start at level 4 and finish at 5. iv'e tried levels 6 and 7, but the vapor seems a little harsh for me. Maybe next time i will try to finish the load on level 6 or 7 and just take more, but smaller hits so the vapor wont be so harsh. BTW, I don't use a water tool. When you crank up the heat are you using a WT, or are you hitting with just the stem??

Both. If I'm not using my bubbler I take shorter hits, because as you stated, the vapor can be harsh on the higher heat settings. I find that even using my bubbler on 7 I still get a few hits at the end just drawing directly from the stem. It can take some experimenting but once you find your sweet spots the solo works amazingly. I'm not sure if you have looked into the PlanetVape PVHE stems, but they make a shorty stem that comes with a smaller bowl. They allow the herb to be closer to the heat and my abv comes out very dark. They also make them with the regular size bowl and a turbo version with one large hole instead if the stock four small holes.

Yeah, I have PV straight stems, I like them a lot ...but I don't have the shorty version. That might be a good option for me! In general, how much herb does a shorty hold and approximately how many draws do you get from a shorty bowl?

PV says that the shorty bowl is about 30% smaller than the regular, but since I use a doomed screen with the regular stem which reduces the load size for me, i pack about half as much in a shorty stem than I do in a regular stem, maybe about .05 g in the shorty and .1 in the regular. With the shorty stem you can not use a doomed screen because of the size of the bowl. Some do not use doomed screens at all so it would not matter, but I hate any herb sitting/getting on the heating element, so with the shorty bowl I mainly use with my bubbler so it sits upside down, or when I use just the stem with no bubbler, I lay my solo on its side to avoid any herb falling into the heating element.

Yeah, It seems I have to maximize the efficiency of my solo, use less herb and get that dark brown abv like you do. Basically, I think I've been packing too much herb in the stem...like .15g, and not being able to totally finish the bowl because I become too medicated LOL (I only have average tolerance) and can't finish the load to that nice dark brown like you're getting.. I'm going to order the shorty right now!! If I can load .05 to .08 in a shorty and get the load dark brown I'm sure I'd get just as medicated as using .15 in the regular stem and really not fully finishing it... Save money on herb as well!! Thanks 22.....

How much herb do you load and what level heat do you use?

not sure of the amout cause i usually dont weigh it, but i can tell you it's a full stem and i pack it down. not super tight but i do press it against my finger to even it out and pack it some. after i pack the stem i put it in the solo and then i turn it on (the solo is off wile i am preparing the stem) and turn it up to 4. i do a full 12 minute session at 4 and when the auto shutoff kicks in, i turn it back on and bump it up to 6 and do another 6 to 8 minutes. then i turn off the solo and unload. i never stir and the ABV comes out evenly cooked to a dark chocolate brown color.

the only difference is when i pair my solo with my bubbler. then i start at 6 and stay there and usually only one 12 min session is all i need. i still do not stir and the ABV still comes out evenly cooked but when i use my bubbler the ABV is a darker brown
