Loaded up my Omicron with a fresh 14500 and the 3.7 herc. Fired it up and within 20 seconds i am getting tasty vapor. I continue to hold the button down after my first hit and go in for a second. This time i got a really nice hit. I then feathered on and off to keep the herc hot, but not too hot. I got through 2 full loads with 1 battery no problem. I could most likely do more if needed.

Well i guess i spoke too soon.
Been using my new omi with chrome ring top and HVD454 unit on/off all day. It had been working great. Then, it just stopped working. Upon further investigation it seems that the HVD unit (possibly holding the button too long) blew out 4 of my carts. I have 1 empty cart left that seems to give the orange glow on 3.4v

The other carts are possibly clogged/not properly filled, this was my first time really filling my own carts, but its concerning that they dont seem to run at 7.4v . I was using 2.4 and 1.5 ohm carts and filled 2g wax over 3 carts

any ideas?

would love to be hitting the omi now but I'm stuck again

(and I know I can submit a ticket , I am just curious if any other users have had this problem. Would I have the same problem with the persei, or am I just too amateur?) , feel free to be honest and tell me to go buy a gpen if thats what id be better off with

Testing and typing in the same hour.... fun!

Hey, keep that talk quiet! You want these young punks finding that out and trying to steal our jobs?

Hey guys,

Loaded .5 of pure gold into a new 2.4 cart and found the cart to be clogged upon vaping. Took cart off and it was leaking clear fluid.

2. Vaporpedia says don't use white mp for pure gold. Is the metal mp better, or just none at all?

i have a feeling puregold might be too thin, but others would know better than me.

I think Sagery has it right, I found careful cool downs control the clogs, but it eventually seems to leak no matter how careful I am. I finally gave up after putting $40 into a $10 cart and only enjoying a fraction of it. Too bad, it's lovely. I just don't think the standard Omicron carts and PG fit well together. The long awaited 'leakproof' cart (1701) may well fix this but for now I'm using Revolution/DART for this (and looking forward to trying PG in the Cera).

Cool. I assume this is the AW IMR 14500? Pretty amazing little battery.....

Hey bud, unfortunately 1.5 and 2.4 carts are strictly for the 3.7 volt configuration. 7.4 v is way two much for them, and will most definitely fry the carts if the button is pressed for more than a second or two. Keep your last cart on 3.7v only, and don't dry fire it any more(looking for orange glow). You can order 4/5ohm carts to run at 7.4 if you please, but they are much more finicky than the low voltage ones. Best of luck.

thanks for the insight dude, I guess I missed that part. It can take me a while to truly get something but I'm spent enough damn time with this thing I want to see it working. So if I'm looking for clouds , reliability, and portability, I see it a few options. FYI I've been using a Volcano for years and it has never let me down so that's my Apple to D9Vs Orange.

So my options are basically run 1.5ohm using the DMR14250 battery, or the 14650 battery? 2.4ohm cart would produce less vapor, but could work, yes?

If I want to run the HVD unit, I must use 3/4/5 ohm carts, with 5ohm cart the least vapor and least chance of blowing out? 3ohm would have most vapor but I should be careful running 7.4v?

I think I have to be much more careful with this product, and probably not let others use this product unless they are fully warned. The last person to use it was my friend and I bet he held the button too long. to lose 4 carts in a night sucks though

Would I have the same issues with the Persei? Probably worse? I'm assuming so. Just need to figure this all out.
The 2.4ohm cart at 3.7v was not producing the clouds I was looking for.

thanks for any advice.

Also, I can use my own imagination, but if anyone has any advice for emptying a full dead cart into a fresh new one thatd be great , thanks

PS as a more idiot proof pen I might pickup the gpen micro or the e-skillet, and save the Omi for special private times. Any thoughts here? I'd be intersted in an O-Phos if it produced good clouds and has idiot-proof factor

EDIT: I see here- http://www.delta9vapes.com/categories.php?category=Extract-Cartridges-
it tells you which carts for which voltages. It kinda sucks that I bought through PV, full knowing of being a newb and that I would be using the HVD. they sold me 2.4 carts. D9V also gave me 1.5 carts because I was told it would produce more vapor. All signs point to Persei :)

EDIT2: and of course now I see cartridge/voltage graph. Should have done my homework more

Yes, yes, yes.

I pretty much run at 7.4v now a days, I have on multiple occasions grabbed one of the dozen carts that are filled but my eyes are not what they used to be, 1-4 hits later at 7.4v with a 2.7 or 1.5 cart and they are fried. I melt the oil out of dead carts and use it for edibles.

I agree that dry firing can cause more problems then solve, out of 60 or more carts I have only had 4 dudes, 3 of which where from early 2012. Now for something a little different, I ordered my last 10 carts from PV, 7 5ohm and 3 4ohm, I did dry fire the 2 5ohm I was filling immidiately and they both produced vapor for 5 dry puffs, this is something that has not happened in 6 months with any ohm cart I have received from D9. I have 8 more carts from PV to check if they are all this way. While I will not recommend dry firing I know from the past that if I load into a cart like this that still has ? In it I will toss the cart and oil, I'd rather toss a $10 cart then a $10 cart plus 1/2g of oil.

Edit: I have not tried the 4ohm cart at 7.4v, might be filling it after typing this since my son has been playing his drums for the last two hours, 3ohm is probably not going to handle 7.4v to well, it is advised that is a 6v cart (so is the 4ohm). At 3.7v
2.7 is good for friends and new users, 1.5 will rip but there is learning curve, 7.4v and 5ohm is a beast giving around .01g per big hit and is easy to screw up if you don't know what you are doing.

Edit 2: since you have the HVD kit you can get the AW IMR 14500 battery which is the best performer at 3.7v IMO.

I think you have the just of it, but 3/4 ohm carts are really best at 6v. If you want to play with 7:4v, try and pick up a single 5 ohm.
They put out plenty of vapor, but again, can be harder to control than low voltage set ups.
About other cart, I can't recommend any g-pens/trippy stud/groovy fingers. While they may have better products than a year ago(back when I followed pen vapes), but I believe they are still rebranded ecig tech. The only other oil carts I can recommend is the Thermo-Vape Dart/Rev, but they are no longer in production, unfortunately, but can be found.
Also, good technique can yield decent vapor out of a 2.4 cart. It's somewhat like the MFLB micro hit technique, but still will not rival a fog machine.
Once again, best of luck.

How does the ABV look?

The first time I emptied after a few hits and it was half golden/half green. The second one I went longer and came out with some dark brown, but not blackened. Then just for fun used the iris @4.5v and combusted slightly. Still tasted ok, justvkind of hot.

My ABV is lighter than my Solo on 5 ABV, until the combustion point.

today, my Ophos has decided that it doesn't want to work. it has been my "gram a week driver" for about a year ($25 upgrade from v1 special) running 1.5ohm carts and lately a TV Dart.

the other day i thought it was weird that i need to 5 click unlock it, when i hadn't locked it. now today, the button won't light up at all.

i really love the small size and feel of my black Ophos, more than any other model of "pen vape" that that i have held. i'll most likely get another one before something happens to my rarely used silver one.

well, I salvaged my last 2.4(?unlabeled) cart and ran it at 3.7v . didnt get much cloud, ran it 1-2 sec at 7.4 and got some clouds. letting it sit upright. plan to run the small tube with 14250 battery tonight

will invest in more carts direct from d9v,
and thanks to all for the lessons and tips on batteries, i thought i got it but now i hope i got it. lol

You're very welcome, that's why we're here I guess?

By all means stick with it, it does work well if you use it in line with the design and your skills. And we all know vaping has it all over blazing every time.

Pretty soon it all becomes automatic. That's when the good stuff really starts, when the tool becomes a means to other stuff, not the main topic.

Good luck and best wishes.

I feel the need to warn you that 2.4 carts are not intended to be ran at 7.4v. That is putting out around 22 watts of power, or right around 4 times as much power as the intended 3.7v setting. It is even higher if the batteries are fresh off the charger.

If you feel it is working for you, then ok, but those carts are going to fry very fast every time. Some people are getting around 4+ grams through a 2.4ohm@3.7v but at 7.4v I doubt you will make it through a gram.

I would suggest a 4 or 5ohm cart for 7.4v setup.

I have to second this. Running a 2.4 ohm cart at 7.4v is basically guaranteeing that you will have a fried cart (and lost oil) on your hands.

Kinda like an 800 horsepower Audi. It will probably get you there, but the chances of tickets and accidents are much higher......

For sure not a good way to learn to drive, even if there were no judgment altering substances in the mix.

So its fine to use the AW IMR 14500 battery with the HVD top?
Gotta know everything there is to know about the 3.7v so I'm ready for the Hercules when it comes back on sale :D

Thanks, this is basically what I learned in the last 24 hrs after burning out 4 carts. I'm only using the 2.4 right now because its all I got. Ill order the proper carts from d9v once i get some cash together.

I'm also only holding the button for 1-2 second, or a few click-bursts as I take my drag. if that makes sense. it works pretty well. anyway hopefully it will last for a little while. Running it the 2.4 at 3.7 just isnt working well for me. It's quite possible too that I haven't properly filled it.

I read both of these pages before I ordered the Omicron, I only wish I studied them before I used my Omicron. Cant blame me for being a little too eager :)

Absolutely. You need the longer tail cap of course but that battery seriously outperforms the IMR 14650 D9 ships with the unit. IMO it (the AW IMR 14500) is the top pick.

You'll like what it does for you.

Hey lockie, yeah a lot of places have been out of AW batteries for a little bit now. They are quite popular.

I only know of one place off hand that has them in stock right now. www.avidvaper.com

They typically process orders very fast and ship same day or next in most cases.

Sounds great, too bad they don't have any of the ones I want...... That happens sometimes.

I'm told it happens to nice people too?

eBay can be your friend sometimes. give that a shot. can i ask what battery you were looking at? Is there an "upgrade" for the DMR14250 that d9v provides for 7.4v? I'm going to get the best damn experience out of my Omi now :)
