Ok, if i may...are you a heavy, moderate, light toker? how much material do you use daily with the Pax now? Is this more conservative than before the Pax? I know these questions have been answered before, but the more people confirm/deny the better I feel about having the whole story. My first vape will be my main driver for a while...

Ok, I have other vaporizers in my signature, but none are as reliable and as good as my Pax. I use less. I use about .2grams in a load, and I do about 1 - 1.5grams a day. I used to be a 2 - 3 gram a day smoker.

The Pax has been my daily driver for over a month now.

I would classify myself as heavy. It definitely satisfies, and medicates which is exactly what I need. I love it.

Hey all, thanks for this forum, really helps a lot.

Earlier on in the forum someone made mention that to help rid of resin, it would be good to preheat the internal chamber prior to using a pipe cleaner and iso to clean out the middle part of the pax better. I did it, and twice on the pipe cleaner I heard a sizzling sound and when I tried to reverse pull out, the excess fluff was tightened on two places on the pipe cleaner, no burn marks. I;ve cleaned it twice since the incident seeing if there were any residuals left in the internal part of the pax.

1) Have I ruined the pax internally?
2) Does the heating mechanism extend into the middle of the pax?
3) Do I need to get a new one? It still serves its function when fully packed, but if I open the back chamber to see whats left mid session, it hits very weak.

1. No you haven't. Everything should be fine. Clean it when it's cold and you can get it to new. (Be careful not to get ISO on the TEMP Button).

2. No, it's internal, and heats up the metal at the bottom of the oven (however, the tube does get hot).

3. Definitely not. It should work fine.

Thanks for your help on this matter. Next series of questions. I grind up pax friendly items to put into the pax. How stuffed should it be? There is a fill line on the pax, should I follow it like the MFLB or stuff it as tight as I can, enough so that the bottom magnet can hold but a little raised? What is the recommended dosage packed?

One final question of the day. I use a convertor (car to wall outlet equivalent) in my 12V plug in the car while running. Can I charge the pax correctly, using this while in the car? I have used the convertor to charge laptops and other items, but being that the pax charger is so fickle, I was wondering if anyone tested this out. Thanks, Noob at forums and 3 week pax lover.

Hey,

I'm a long-time lurker on the site, but this is my first post. Thanks to the all of the great info in this forum, I finally ordered and received my Pax (onyx) last night (ordered directly from Ploom on Fri, got it in 2 days, and it includes 2 packs of lube and a sticker). I charged it up for an hour or so and checked battery level and it was green. Yippee. I finely ground some flowers, put it on low (yellow), packed the oven tightly (1/2-2/3 full), and WOW the vape quality was really good and lasted a long-ass time. Nice visible clouds (visible in dark room w/ only TV glowing). That first one was .... damn good! Really got me effed up!. I have an iolite I really like, too, but the vapor quality was better with the Pax. Never got "burnt popcorn" taste I get to at end of iolite session, even after dozens of draws on the vape. I'm happy.

After that session I put it back on the charger (it's been over 6 hrs) and its still red/orange in the charger. Hmmm... Not sure what's going on here. Does the initial charge usually take this long? I've taken it off the charger, turned it on to check the battery remaining, and it's still yellow after over 6 hours of charging. Hope this is temporary. Don't want to have to send it back already. Ugh.

Thanks for all of the great info on this forum. It's been invaluable when trying to decide what to buy.

Cheers

From my experience with charging the unit, I'd say check the plug that hooks into the charger (push the power supply until you feel click into place) and make sure its securely fastened to the charging unit prior to putting the pax on the unit to charge... If that doesn't work use the pax and the rest of the battery until the point when you click it on and it just blinks red and shuts off. At that point fully recharge it. If I were a betting man your issue is with the first one, not the latter. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have reconnected the power supply, and put the Pax back on the charger. Hope that works. If not, I will try to run down the battery. Thanks.

Yeah this is my first vape but I've tried other vapes before.

I would say that it will be fine as my only one, after buying the pax I don't plan to spend money on another vaporizer for a long while. I can get clouds that are big enough to rival the hits I've taken from the bags of other vaporizers. I would highly recommend that you inhale on the pax softly and slowly, the longer I make my draw last the bigger clouds I can get.

I filled the oven with about .3 g and packed it down, I got around 15 or so draws, I had enough draws and vapor production that i was happy enough with the efficiency, because compared to smoking that same amount i got much more out of it.

I also was choosing between the solo and the pax, In my opinion considering that the vapor production i get from the pax is good enough, I would say that the pax is better for my situation.

The pax is so easy to use, quick to load and empty, that sounds trivial but the ease of use is surprisingly one of my favorite things about it. I love that i can pack the pax, go use it whenever i want after having packed it, and if i don't finish it in one session i can just turn the pax off and finish it at my leisure.

I've never used a solo so you might want to ask someone who owns one, but the solo has a glass stem and is much larger than the pax so that makes it harder to use on the go. I would say the best reason to get the solo over the pax is because its cheaper, but if you can spend the money I would recommend the pax over the solo because it is so much more portable and easy to use.

Also the pax looks cooler than the solo, I would also recommend looking into the da vinci ascent, but that isn't out yet and is sure to cost a pretty penny as well.

What a Hobby...
So thoughts on INH vs PAX... I gotta pull the trigger on one of the 2. I know pax is more dicreet, but INH is discreet enough for me. I am looking for performance opinions, I want the one I can count on the most... Owners or users of both please reply.;)

havent been thru these pages yet, but i have noticed the pipe cleaners they give is terrible.

ive had great luck with the "randys" pipe cleaners that have those red little spikes everywhere and they have a taperd end. 2 passes gets the airpath looking like a clean rifle bore.

I looked back through earlier pages in this Pax forum, and it was suggested than when first charging the Pax, you may need to try charging the Pax facing either direction. I turned the Pax around on the charger for a bit, and now it's green and should be fully charged! I'm ready for my second session!

Higher, Higher, Baby...
I always charge with my MP on and the X pointed away from the outlet holder on the station mount.
I do not know if this has any effect on anything other then my routine.

One tip for people getting new pipe cleaners is to get the stiffest ones you can. The stock pipe cleaners and some of the other ones I've tried can be frustrating because when they meet the resistance of the screen, and instead of popping the screen out they bend.

i agree, getting your fingers down in the mouthpiece cave is def hard.

dont even mess with trying to get everything hot first, youll just burn yourself like a derp. ive never had a prob cleaning it cold.

Actually, it doesn't heat up the bottom of the oven. The heat is applied around the circumference of the oven and then transfers to the bottom as well.

Dont hesitate to start trouble shooting, I had a dud battery in my pax and they shipped out a new one the same day they received it. Some things to try. EVEN if its brand new, use a pencil eraser on the contacts that clip into the pax, clean the ones on the inside of the mouth piece chamber too. Make sure theres no breaks in the wire obviously this will effect performance. Like someone else said make sure its secure in the plug in section. From a dead battery, it should take an hour to charge. Mine was taking 2 hours and that was enough to get a return. -Cant imagine the charger working better if its facing a particular direction. I feel like that makes no sense from a logistical stand point.

I just bought one a week ago and it's taking around 2 hours to charge on mine to fully turn green. Once I take it off the charger and without even using it, I place it back on the charger and it turns yellow again then another maybe 15-30 minutes to turn green. Could this be an issue also?

Shpooding Time.
If its around 2 hours, then you arn't sure - But yes, 2 hours is a no-go. The store owner that I got it from said his takes 45 minutes from low red (RED, NOT DEAD) and many people on here were getting 50-55 minute charges from flat dead. Two different people at Ploom tech support (emailed them twice, got two different responses) said this is not supposed to ever take that long to charge. Use it til its dead (don't keep turning it on and off to further drain it, just use it til it stops vaporizing) and then charge it. Mine was taking about 2 hours on the dot, twice I put it on not fully dead and it still took two hours on the dot. I'm wondering what the battery life sensor consists of, maybe my batteries were fine and it was a dud sensor. Give it a few timed charges. Leave it in front of the tv, light facing you, so you know exactly how long. Also, write down the time, the first attempt at timing this I honestly forgot what time I plugged it in, as using your pax may result in short term memory loss (hahaha whoops). I'm wondering if they shipped them semi-charged to prevent the batteries from fully draining. I hear that will hurt these batteries and they will no longer work to the full potential.
Edit- I was also told that if the pax is left on the charger an additional 20-30 minutes, you can expect to get extra charge out of the batteries, they said green meant the top charge was complete, but further charging could potentially get you an extra 2 packs. Hope this helps people with longevity issues. You should be able to get a bunch of heavy sessions out of these on a completely charged battery.

Good read Mr Krinkle. I am going to start testing/timing the charging times. I was wondering why it was taking so long for it to be fully charged!

Wow, that's saying quite a lot since you own a Cloud.

Hey everyone. I got my Pax a few days ago and had a small issue with it. But with one email sent in the morning, the tech support had it sorted and parts shipped that evening. Great product great support

Does anyone have this issue?

Pax doesn't recognize that the mouthpiece is attached and when I turn it on, it just glows purple for a second or two, then turns red (or orange, depending on the temp setting). I emailed Ploom, who was very nice and responded right away. The response was that I needed to clean the unit and a couple of pieces in particular.

The cleaning did nothing. I have spent so much time trying to get this to work and cleaning it repeatedly.
I found the best way was to wiggle it so it recognize the mouthpiece but it is always fickity.
