I agree, it's a funny shape. but IMO it's pretty natural in use. I hold it like it was a flashlight pointed up, my thumb naturally falls on the button, I'm good to go. While it's MFLB like in many ways, it's also much different in other important ways. To start with, it's a BRUTE. Unlike MFLB it will combust your load really fast. A few seconds error on your part.

However, with a bit of practice you can pull it out, power up, take a huge old hit, pull the stem and have it back in your pocket in under half a minute. Yes, 10 seconds to vapor from a standing start. Beat that if you can.

In a certain market, for herb only, I can see the FV as a serious alternative to Cera for some. Which is, I guess, why I brought it up at TV?

FWIW, I think both Cera and FV are exciting products. Both, I think, merit some consideration to those 'in the market'. FV is more of a specialist's tool, perhaps, but within it's design intents it's pretty impressive.

Pakalolo said:
The FV and the Cera are similar in some ways but radically different in others. They are both simple designs made from solid, safe materials. The FV is extremely well made; other TET products have high build quality and everything indicates the Cera will too. The Cera, however, uses constant heating and is convection, while the FV uses pulse heating and is primarily conduction. I don't see the FV as a head-to-head competitor with the Cera or the MFLB, it's somewhere in between. I can easily see owning all three devices.

OF, Pakalolo, Dreamer, TF,

My wife says that you are all bad influences on me and that I am no longer allowed to visit this thread until all credits cards are hidden (LOL).

And yes, as I sadly learned, the FV is waaaay easy to combust (sorry OF-pretend there's an 'oh shit' emoticon here)

OK, since you brought it up..... Yes, it's true. NN did in fact almost immediately (third hit?) experiment with combustion in my FV. For those who've never had the pleasure of meeting him, that's just the kind of guy he is. He no sooner heard from me how afraid I was of going a little long and combusting in that monster that he decided to take the lead there, calm as can be, didn't even mention it, just did it. Good show I was taught not to laugh at people (in the first person), because it was comical.....cartoon comical. I saw the glass tube go white from the side and his eyes got bigger and bigger. Then he deftly danced into the kitchen (around several bits of furniture) to fire up the exhaust fan over the stove in the kitchen like he did it every day. Easily worth the price of admission.

It also gave me a chance to keep Pak honest with his 'easy to clean up after' claim.....Pak's telling the truth friends and neighbors. I think we all knew it could happen again? I pulled the lower screen and flamed it off. ISO soaked cloth quickly wiped the bowl clean (the 'wand hash' on the walls wiped away easily taking all black with it). The top had most all the 'nasty smell' but a brief boil got out what the ISO wipe didn't. Of all the part, I had the most trouble with the stem in fact?? Anyway, one off taste bowl later it's back to tasting like it did before NN's little experiment.....which I would judge unsuccessful overall as a technique.

First, I want to thank everyone on this forum for their tremendous support of our company.

I am sad to say that I am resigning from Thermo-Essence technologies. I have been under a great deal of stress, and I am now facing fundamental differences of opinion with my business partners, as well as just now beginning the process of going through a divorce. I simply need to refocus my efforts on taking care of myself.

I have given everything I had for the mission of helping people never smoke again. I have given all of my time, and money, my passion, my education, everything I could give I have given. If I was, or our technology was ale to help just one of you, then it has been well worth the effort and sacrifice.

I have now reached a time in my life when I simply have nothing more to give.

I worked routinely 100 hours a week to insure uncompromising quality in our vaporizer, and did whatever it took to build our vaporizers here in America. The fact that I loved to smoke so much, made me focus on building vaporizers that rely on performance and durability not just as selling points, but as being absolutely fundamental to the product design and development.

I truly hope and believe that the other owners of Thermo-essence will carry forward with that mission. It has always been a team effort, the sun does not rise and set on my shoulders. It is a company of very good people. Just now minus one.

It has always been my goal to make an impact, not money (I never made any money of Thermo-essence). I wanted simply to help people, to create better technology, to engage the customer and deliver the products that they wanted. The companies I founded, or co-founded are not about me, they are about helping people and creating opportunity and prosperity in the process. All of us should do whatever we can to make a positive impact, Thermo-essence was my attempt to make that impact.

Again, thank all of you for your support in that effort.

Effective immediately I will no longer running or contributing my energy or time in to Thermo-Essence Technologies operations or products.

I wish all of you the best, and hope for your continued success using a vaporizer as a smoking alternative.

Sincerely,

Noah Minskoff, MD

Just a quick note to extend my sympathy to you during this difficult time. I'd like to personally "Thank You" for all the contributions you have made to bring such wonderful products to the market. WOW... well I hope nothing but the best for Noah. I have no idea where this leaves us as customers. There was no indication that the company was folding, just that Noah was leaving it. :\ Everyone must do what is right for them, so more power to him, if he needs to redirect his life path. I don't know if he'll be back to see any of our responses, but thanks for all the effort, time, energy, inspiration and just simply amazing vaping devices. Maybe in time he will find his way back.

Thanks Noah, sad to see you go! You're a champ with that CEO! I hope you find something bigger and better, you're a true patriot not working for money but for the greater good of our country! You do more good than you know.

Little odd it's during the release but I've seen it a lot, stress can really influence a lot.

EDIT: Moved to complaining thread.

I know everyone wants an update but Paka was pretty clear when he said not to ask TET for updates on this thread.

Perhaps someone could call customer service and nicely ask them to provide us an update. I would but I already called today for something else.

iamn3ko, your move to the Jibberish thread was a good one. Guys, as surprising as this announcement is, we still need to keep this thread on track. Hopefully, someone from TET will respond to this soon and answer some of your questions and concerns. Please take further discussion of Noah's departure over to the other Cera thread.

I'll try to get a handle on things for folks, please stand by. I needed to schedule a trip over soon anyway, I have a DART to take in for service.

My initial take is TV will soldier on. As I've said (I think), I haven't seen Noah since before Christmas. It's been my understanding he was taking a long planned time off (perhaps for those very personal reasons?) and has not been involved in the day to day goings on. The design is done (basically), tooling in place, most of the fine tuning done, they're on track to ship 'any day now' as far as I know. In that vein, noting has changed. Or so I believe.

I'll try to confirm that in the next few days, until then remember, Jam has not told us it's time to panic?

Hey talked with TET all is well in there kingdom and moving ahead with our preorders.
All the parts are in and are being assembled as we speak first getting the November orders out first then next week the December orders. I guess that depends on how fast things go assembling these Cera's.
Anyway in the next day to two November preorders will get a shipping update and tracking number I suppose and the momentary switch will come with it and then when the latching switch comes in it will be sent to us.
As for the return of this momentary switch there not decided yet on what they'll do but was told here's a good chance we will be able to keep them both with not having to send any back at all , but still up in the air.
The safety switch is a go and it will be removable for travel and functional when inserted, mind ya the unit will not work with out it anyway. This is good to hear.
So sounds like everything is coming together now, I'm sure we will hereof happy cera lovers soon enough.
Happy new year

So I just got back from a protracted visit to TV. I agree based on what I saw and heard things are very much on track. As Gipsy Rose Lee famously said, "Gentlemen, the end is in sight"!

Ceramic parts to cover the first 100 plus units are in house and going through 'first article inspection'. These are the first 'production units' and therefore merit extra careful inspection before more are made. They looks lovely, much nicer than the Beta and prototype parts did IMO. The finish is a treat to see for sure, I hope the future units look this good. There were boxes of completed cores with more being made at the time.

These are all SS units, the Ti parts are due in late this week or early next and will follow the SS into production from there.

They're still waiting on a few key bits (like the tool to mix the epoxy to make tail caps). The momentary cap is still not ready to test, the evaluation units got epoxy into them through a vent that will need sealing, that too is on track and should be sorted out shortly (I expect a call to come get the cap to test 'any day now').

"The guys" were tossing ideas around about the wording for the confirmation email about to go out. It will spell out the details of the switch change and battery substitution as well as being a last chance to upgrade your order when you confirm it. Also be sure to check the shipping address, be a pity to have it sent to the wrong place. Tim said they checked the first 50 or so orders (the first confirmation emails to go out) and most everyone ordered just the LL. They've made some extra Oil carts (and are making still more) expecting some guys will want to add them, since many ordered their Cera before the Oil Cart happened.

The skins are progressing, but TV seems to have decided to press on with shipments without them. However, they're pushing to see if they can get just the cap part (in white) in time to ship with the basic unit so folks will know what to expect of the skins. IMO the front cap solves several problems (heat, sealing 18mm GonG connections, and so on) such that everyone will find use for it. This is not a commitment of course, but last I heard they were planning on putting them in for free if they can get them in time.

I did confirm Noah is on extended leave as they planned. The company is very much alive and thriving. The mini Cera is being secretly worked on I'm told. It also seems the sliding safety switch is a wash out, not really safe. I've had two accidental turn ons (putting it back in the case and having the switch slide over), my guess is other Beta testers found the same issue. I can see how it could do so in your pocket and with a load of oil that could be very bad indeed. LL would be no fun but at least your pocket wouldn't be smoking up the joint. A good idea, but to be a safety it needs to be more positive (stay clicked solidly) and be better protected IMO.

Anyway, the short if it is I expect complete units by week's end if no unknown issues crop up. Everything seems well under control for projects like this IMO. I think it will come together real soon and TV will chew through the backlog in short order. I'm expecting they'll be sending the first 50 or so emails out as soon as they get the first few units built, inspected and tested. I figure I've got until Thursday or so to get the instructions I've promised them written if I'm going to make the first shipments. If I was a betting man I'd give even money that this time next week at least a few of the loyal (and fast to respond to the email.....) will be stalking the delivery guy, shipping number in hand.

'About time' I'm sure some feel, but IMO well worth the wait.

BTW, while there I met another customer in getting his DART rebuilt. I had Cera with me.....she made a new friend in about a minute. I expect that to be happening a lot soon.

One other BTW. I told Tim I'd ordered a spare oil core for PG (knowing that I'd empty it right away if I didn't have a spare for 'normal concentrates'). Tim suggested I change my order to the Juice version instead since it has a lower power heater more suitable to PG. Great call, IMO. I did just that on the spot. The ball park numbers are 14 and 10 Watts respectively so battery life will go up as well I bet.

Hey there OF I was on the phone with Zeke while you where at TET lol anyway Zeke said to me that the safety switch is still gonna be there but it will be removable and that the unit wouldn't work without it inserted ? I'm a little confused is the switch totally removed from the equation or is is just not a on/off switch just a removable safety so the unit will not turn on.
By the way how can the unit you had turn on via the safety switch? Obviously your not turning of the main bottom switch that supplies the main power.
If you would turn that main button off then the safety switch wouldn't engage at all if in your pocket , just a simple solution.
I hope it's still included regardless of how it is used, wishful thinking I know but hey I was told one thing OF was to,d a other so who knows what will happen I guess all I know is that mine will go out on the first load. I've been waiting two months for this thing.

So, this sounds much like a key: loose it and you'll need to order another one! Perhaps i'd want a spare key if i were to become a Cera owner - just in case.

I don't believe the final configuration of the safety has been decided. I've seen several proposals, some inserting an insulating rod to defeat the heater (one was even two pieces, held together by tiny magnets), some inserting a conductor to allow heating. I'm sure someone will make that call in due time.

Yes, of course you need both switches on to get heat, that's just the point. Using the slide switch as the on/off control naturally leads to setting the unit down (or ditching in a pocket in a hurry) with the latching switch set. Human engineering, important stuff. For myself, I've done it twice. Once when I set the unit down to type a response to a post (it was sitting switched off for a minute or so first), the second time I put it down to go into the kitchen for another cup of tea and came back to vapor drifting out of it. In both cases my session was not over yet.

What I have is just not a realistic safety switch IMO. No lawyer worth having would let you call it that. It's an alternative power control switch with some easily proven issues. Whatever ships I believe will be a true safety of some sort, in that it can be used to positively lock out the power when used as instructed.

Well good to hear that it will be a safety power switch this is what I thought It was anyway but it serves as a secondary power switch. I'm so curious to the final product, so when there done put together tested packaged and shipped out they will include as p all the posts and vids a charger, 2 x batteries(2250), Cera unit, the carts we ordered, momentary switch(with latching switch to come), and extra o-rings for the carts and the ability to adapt to glass.
Just for my own curiosity are the Cera's also in there own packaging too?
I can't wait to see the finale product, well can't wait to try the era to be honest.
Just wondering
