Cheap High Quality Bubbler

Damn... now I want to buy the updated version.

What seems odd to me with the new version is that the slits are cut much higher and you should need more water in there to submerge them and give adequate space for the vapor bubbles to cool down. Whenever I tried to put that much water in my Infamous I ended up drinking the salty bong water... :puke: Doesn't this pose a problem to you guys with the newer version?

I didnt get to try it yet because Im waiting on some tubing to arrive. Do you think the slits will be a problem? The infamous is really tiny and I do see the slits on mine are pretty high up.

Side Note: Does anyone else hate the sound the pieces make when you put them together like Voltron? That glass on glass friction reminds me of the scratchin on a chalkboard.

I have no issue with getting water in my mouth and as the day goes on the level gets higher cause I will grab a piece of ice from my water glass for colder water. Also be aware, now that I learned a smidge, not all the slits fire as someone else mentioned. If I remember correctly from the other day my back three fire and not the front ones. I did it with no herb just water in the mirror like the other person did. No matter how hard or soft or angle change some just don't bubble. This tiny thing is cute and won't break easily.

I still want to know if you can just boil it to clean it or even chuck it in the dishwasher. I would think the glass is thick enough. I want to do it with my solo stems as well. I know you can boil them so I would assume a bubbler would be able to as well.

I wonder if you could boil it as well. At first I thought that it would be no big deal it's made to get that hot. Then again I'm not sure about the glass of that piece while undergoing a 140 degree temp change.
I'm going to use a kind of boil cleaning for my glass 2oz of ISO in the microwave for 30 sec's then dump no salt no shake. I have put a lot of glass pipes in boiling water to clean them it's a cheep and nasty, easy way to clean. But now with the net I would use Simple Green for combustion or hot ISO for vapor reclaim.

Be careful with the ISO in the microwave, ISO fumes are extremely flammable.

I think the concensus is that boiling your GLASS will weaken it. The vaporizers designed to be boil-safe have had more of a ceramic construction.
Sure it won't break the first time just from boiling, but it will make a slight *bump* have a higher chance of causing a crack/break.

As for the slits firing, that should depend on each individual bubbler. With $50, you can't really expect too much consistency in production. My slits mostly all fire equally. If not, you should be able to make adjustments by leaning it back or forward.

Made a "bubble" video last night and will try to upload a lil later today to show how the perc can fire.

I think someone else said that all there slits didn't fire either. Personally I don't really care I like the cute thing and it works for what my intended use is. It cools enough and gives moisture.

So with the boiling issue if you put it in water and let it heat with the water I don't see why it would be an issue but I would love someone to chime in more. I know the solo people put there stems in hot chocolate which I planed on doing but my guess is it is from the start. It is never wise to put glass in water that is already boiling. If you are sticking glass in boiling water I am surprised it doesn't shatter.

The thermal SHOCK is definitely the problem so heating up the water should be safer, but I can't say definitively. It also might be better to let the water cool a bit before taking it out, reduce the shock on both ends of the procedure.

On one hand, a $50 bubbler might not be made as solid and more vulnerable to weakening. On the other hand, if something bad WERE to happen, it's only $50. Very likely you could use the bubbler for a long time, doing hot water cleanings, and then it breaks so far down the road that you will have felt you got your money's worth (and valuable learning experience)

Here's the water test/bubble video
At around 0:15 you can see the splashback up the mouthpiece.
I would say this is a medium-high water level for the piece.

OMG!!! NO MICROWAVE/HEAT AND ISO!!!!

(we now return you to our regular program)

Sweet up-close view of the water test. I like it. Though... as previously mentioned... I would prefer the taller dimensions. @#$% that thing is tiny. Where's bOObs? He would love that bubbler. It looks almost the same exact size as the Mini Hydrator.

Well, coming from work in the Petroleum industry and the nature of extremely flammable/explosive fumes... its not a good idea. You're welcome to try, but might want to tell anyone else in the household to leave. It doesn't take flame. It just takes the flash point (temp) to set it off.

if the glass is borosilicate, AND the glass has been properly annealed. Boiling the glass will not weaken it.
Borosilicate glass unless its cheaper cousin sodalime can withstand thermal shock and is oven/dishwasher safe

thats why mom's everywhere love pyrex glass bowls/tubs because they can take the abuse.

that being said i know allot of shops go cheap on annealing and don't properly anneal their glass so it comes already stressed when you buy it. these pcs you don't want to apply anymore stress or thermal shock as the glass can crack under the stress

Yar the proper anneal is the clincher. I routinely hit my heavy-duty hydratube with scalding hot water with not much fear, but the welds on this $40 bub don't look nearly as perfect.

Wow. :lmao:

Way to make me feel like I'm becoming like my mom, next up I'll be be baking cookies for our guests. Oh wait... No.

All this talk about everyone's slits firing is getting me all hot and bothered. :brow:

You telling me, I'm watching a video of the infamous, I have the infamous and I'm waiting on tubing. Talk about tease. :whoa:

Did you get any water in your mouth *pause* like one of the guests hypothesized?
