In real need of advice for a family member

Hello All and thanks for taking the time to read this and offer advice. I will try to be as brief as possible. I just found out that my Mother starts chemo on the 16th of February. Her overall health is poor and weight is low. Because of her insurance situation, covered by Medicare only, I don’t know how much or what type of anti-nausea medicines will be prescribed. I’ve heard horror stories about how expensive the pills are out of pocket. I am a fairly regular smoker but have never owned or used a vaporizer, so know very little them. I have talked to her about smoking but she is staying with one of my sisters who has several children ages 15-6, and she refuses to entertain the idea of setting a bad example. I feel a vaporizer would be a great solution, but we are talking about someone who has never smoked much less vaporized. I have no idea what to get for her, besides the actual herb.

Here are the things I am looking for in a vaporizer for her:
1. Easy to use, load, maintain.

2. Somewhere around 200.00 or less.( we are going to be paying for a lot of other expenses)

3. It sounds funny but something that doesn’t hit too hard, I don’t think she wants to be baked.

I have been reading in the forums but time is short so I apologize if this information is readily available and genuinely appreciate any input. Also if anyone has ever had to help someone get started with herb under these circumstances I’d love to hear how it went and any advice.
Thanks,
Krenzel

The vapir NO2 is a very medicinal use device, it's not going to give you massive vapor plumes but will and does medicate (medicated and baked are two very very different terms). Great because its also portable, inconspicuous because it fits in a large macdonalds cup or in plain sight looks like a ...(water bottle, microphone, worst case scenario dong...) anyway it's truly a patients tool.

I like the HerbalAire reccomendation.

Being that she has never smoked before, I think a bag vape, with it's high air to vapor ratio may just be the thing for her. While not as easily hidden as the No2 is mentioned above, it can be left out as one of her medical devices that would make total sense to anyone visiting her room.

Don't know about the reliability of the seller in that link, but the price sure is right.

I have purchased from that seller myself and the package arrive well enough and in a timely manner(from CA to VA in ~4 days). That's not to say that my experience with them is what Krenzel should expect but I did get what I ordered.

I have had similar experience with my husband, my thoughts are with you. I have had vaporizers for several years but my husband was a non-user until he got terminal cancer and had chemotherapy. We have ALL the anti-nausea meds, but they were not effective for him. He FINALLY agreed to try cannabis and it truly changed his life. Nearly complete control of vomiting, stimulated appetite and overall well-being improved significantly. We experimented with my vapes (VG, MFLB, CRZ, Solo) first, but ended up buying an underdog and that has met his needs. It is easy to use, always on, discreet, attractive, uses small amount of medication and the silicone helps the stem stay on the device with weak or shaky hands. However, my husband has brain involvement and cannot learn new tasks so there is work involved on my part; your Mom may be different. I do the grinding, pre-packing stems, stem cleaning and wood maintenance. Best wishes to you and your family; I hope you are able to find whatever works best to keep your Mom as well as possible.

Edibles, elixers or tinctures. There is the Omicron for oils, waxes. It is very discreet. You can read more in the portable section.

im gonna go with the underdog. You can leave it plugged in all the time, and just pack a stem and take a few puffs

We have a member on the forum called Vitolo who has vast knowledge about vaping and immense compassion for patients. I've directed him to you Krenzel, so look in your Inbox for a message from him. I'm sure he will be able to direct you towards the right vape for your mom.

Good luck in your search.

Salutations Krenzel,

...she refuses to entertain the idea of setting a bad example.

Since the assumption here appears to be that your mother would be "intoxicated" with grand-children around then i feel the urge to point out that she doesn't need to be that stone she woulnd't be able to see her family, unless the situation calls for stronger alternatives...

I feel a vaporizer would be a great solution...

Given what i quoted i believe that perhaps the time for a vaporizer hasn't come yet - though if she were my mother i'd probably want to keep one handy anyway, just in case.

Considering that heat promotes decarboxylation in dry cannabis flowers (making them potent), for example, if she's got no kidney afflictions then it may be a good idea to browse around in search for discussions on Raw Cannabis Juicing.

The objective of this consumption method is to avoid decarboxylation, as a result a person would avoid cooking hot cannabic meals, etc. Vaporization will most likely make her uneasy in front of others, right? If that's the case then there are 1:1 High-CBD strains meant to address situations like this. In fact, from what i've been able to gather from my readings myself, it seems green cannabis leaves would be best, provided that her kidney can manage with it...

This is not a medical advice, i'm only exchanging information 1 on 1. Good luck!

:peace:
