coughing with different vapes what might be?

i have found out that with different vaporizer i cough more or less and sometimes i dont cough at all...with my mflb i cough a lot when i use it...using a dragon lite wich is an mflb rippoff i dont cought that much, and using the vapor genie i hardly cough...i've tried water filtration,vapolung micro hitting,long slow draw and i always cough while using the mflb.. any hints on why is this happening to me?

i don't use a mflb, but when i have the urge to cough it's because the temperature is too high -- there's a threshold where 5°F can make a difference.

I also cough alot with the LB and not so much with my EQ. I've thought about it before and I think its because of a few things. (correct me if I'm wrong)
I've never tried the LB with water filtration so that doesnt apply here, but native or with a stem the LB has a very short airpath which means less heat loss and less active loss (reclaim), the vapor is also quite dry imo and without water filtration there is tiny plant matter particulates coming through the screen. Still gotta love the LB though its so handy!

I have a very short whip for my EQ (about 1/2 feet) so it's hot when I hit the whip (more heat going into my mouth/throat/lungs than from MFLB). But still doesn't make me cough at all like MFLB. Only after huge rips. I think it's because of temperature and probably also dirtyness of my MFLB.

Salutations everybody,

I suppose some of us here must have seen my other post by now:

There were 4 different forms of inhalation modes supported in that test-bench:

3) Direct inhalation through an Arizer Solo glass stem​
4) Bag inhalation (using an ordinary cooking bag)​
6) Water filtration (i prefer to call it rudimentary "washing"!)​
8) Fog Conditioning, 2 options: a) Direct, b) Bag (with or without "washing")​

Maybe it's just me but in my own personal case heat doesn't seem to be of as much importance as dryness, judging from my present perspective...

Somehow Fog Conditioning remains my 1st scenario of choice when it comes to coughing, i simply guess heat has little to do with it.

Ya, everyone here's got it. The same temp setting on different vapes is usually not actually the same temp. So when you have the urge to cough, the vapor is too hot or too dry. But don't use too moist of bud or the steam will burn you! Egzoset's fog conditioning is an elegant solution

I would presume that the size distribution of vapor particles/droplets/condensates, which start to form instantly with these sticky herbal resins, also is a factor contributing to coughing. I would presume that vapor at the same temperature but with larger particles (e.g., looking denser) will settle/stick to surfaces, such as the throat, much quicker than smaller lighter suspended condensate globules, causing irritation and reflexive coughing. And larger condensate globules could also hold and transfer more heat.

I get what you mean, but do you mind showing some proof that denser vapor=larger particles? I'm pretty sure dense vapor is just more particles.

^^this^^ Maybe try a whip to cool it down and collect particulates. I experience that it is harsh native, but that is how I use it because if I am using my MFLB, I need stealth. It is a trade off for sure...

I can't provide "proof" that denser vapor = larger particles vs. denser vapor being just more particles. Talking at this level of aerosol science is well beyond me.

But I can use an analogy of, other factors being equal, longer-condensed (or cooler) vapor will appear denser. Water vapor (in gas phase) is invisible (to the naked eye), e.g., humid air, but will form denser fog (darker clouds, etc.) as it cools, as its droplets condense and enlarge.

Also, with vaporizers, we can't avoid talking about condensation. The instant the herbal material is heated/vaporized, condensate particles only ever get bigger and fewer (and the vapor looking denser). There is no post-vaporization increase in the number of vapor particles.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the thick vapor is from being condensed, and not necessarily a lot of vapor. When you look at a bong being ripped, all that air is rushing through the smoke/vapor, and cooling off some of the hot air causing it to condense. The air is still in between the herbal vapors, so it puffs up the cloud making it look like a lot of vapor is being extracted, but it really isn't. All you have to do is look at how much herb you are using compared to the size of the cloud, and see that it can't be mostly herbal vapor.

As far as the mflb causing coughing, I think the short air path is the reason. When you inhale, the vapor doesn't have a chance to cool off a lot, so when it hits your respiratory system, that's where it condenses, and give the irritation. A trick would be to tear off pieces of some organic cotton, and put it inside the stem as the fibers will help cool the vapor down. You can get organic cotton balls from rite air or amazon.

my LB had a short usage life now its sitting in a cold dark cabniet. i found the harsh dryness of the hot air irritating. in light of this thread instead of using their water pipe attachment im going to attach a whip hose to the stem to my piece.

Thanks. It's more of a hint about where to look than a definitive answer, yet somehow i find it's leading me towards something related, right over there:

I may be wrong but to me it sort of raises (once again) the difficult matter of deciding which of heat or dryness is a major contributor to cannabic vapour soothing... Does the carburetor inlet allow moisture from ambiant air to mix in or is it about cooling from gas expansion instead???

i think this is a factor ... i have a cooler hit from a 16mm x 150mm draw tube compared to a 12mm x 100mm draw tube. i plan to order some 18mm to 25mm (diameter) x longer than 150mm tubes to test the theory next time i order glassware.

Hummm... Yes, there's that expansion factor most possibly (we don't have to choose sides between one method or another, after all!) and i imagine a larger glass piece would also represent more heat sinking because of its mass. Frankly, there are times i like this hobby better than the LEGO/Meccano playthings of my childhood!!

i feel you ... these toys are pretty cool. i think about some of the toys i had during childhood and now, being adult and using, and building, adult toys is much more gratifying, entertaining.
