According to the source I use (cheap iPhone App) Blue Dream is 80% Sativa, 20% Indica.
Origins: DJ Short's Blueberry x Haze

Medical Uses: Great for treating depression, ADD, ADHD, nausea, Tourette's Syndrome (Fuck!) and Gherig's Disease.

:peace:
Thanks Stu!
Blue Dream is a good day time med.

For the longest time I only danced with purchased Jack Herer but this year I grew some delicious Mandala #1 and it is simply amazing

This looks like it's going to be a fun thread :D

Sativa (sativa-dominant hybrid):
So many favorites... Argh! This is hard, but Blue Dream is always a crowd favorite. I've yet to try it again since I quit combustion, but the flavor I remember was amazing with a great high. Bet it's even better in a vape ;)

Indica (indica-dominant hybrid):
Marilyn Jane OG. Bar-none. Hands-down. The high and taste is second to none. Supposedly, the true Marilyn Jane OG is grown at and by the Belmont Shore Natural Care collective. I don't know how true that is, but that's what they claim and advertise. Since my purchase of it last summer, the collective has shut down their dispensary and has switched to delivery (but still sells the Marilyn).
The Marilyn is legendary amongst my group of friends. Whenever I say, "I'm going to pack some Marilyn", all I ever hear is, "Holy shit we're gonna get fucked" or "Fuck, dude, I didn't want to get THAT high!"
Favorite strain to date. It brings a tear to my eye

Two years back I grew Blueberry from DJ Short. Same year I grew Super Silver Haze.
To this date Blueberry is easily my fav. Great body buzz, excellent for controlling seizures and perfect for drifting away at night. The Haze had a totaly different buzz. Great for company, and great daytime smoke. Only downside is it took forever to finish, grew into a 8ft. monster but had a small yeild for it's size.
God I wish I could grow still. To experiment with all the strains out there would be paradise!
The promised land,(Colorado) is calling me. I'd be a fool not to answer. :bigleaf:

I grew 2 Mandala #1's this summer and one turned out to be a HUGE badass male.

My female pretty much grew herself without any care at all and the result was highly potent. Mandala has great genetics I think.

Next summer I'll try Malawi Gold, Dr. Grinspoon and C99

Sativa Sativa Sativa. I like when my mind wanders into places it has never been. Body buzz is limited, but its harder to tell since you are thinking about so many other things.

I'm not hating on any weed! Sativa gives me an awesome tingly body high, giggly, happy. Sativa really helps my nerve pain, relaxes, sleep!!! Love when you can really tell if its a sativa or indica.

I have some rock hard INDICA flowers and some SATIVA flowers that are full of red hairs.
60% of the INDICA with 40% SATIVA makes for some good medicine.
Relax the mind and body at the same time.
I have Ataxia (SCA) shrinking Cerebellum.
It's late on set and the only way I can sleep or relax is to medicate with cannabis.
Pharmaceutical has too many side effects and does not work in my case.
Blending Flowers does the trick.

BLUE DREAM is a hybrid that works well too!

The Avatar (StrickVapeChick) is right on the money. Most of the Surfers burn.
It makes me cough so bad. With Vaporizing it puts Medicating at a new level.
We are so health minded (Surfers in General) so whats with the combustion thing?
The flavors obtained from Vaporizing are amazing!

I like both, but I definitely prefer Sativa. I find it helps with my depression and motivation issues really well. I find myself getting a lot more done at home and school with a heavy Sativa. I can't smoke it at night though, or I will never go to sleep! When I was younger and didn't know much about the strains I would smoke in the evening, and not be able to fall asleep for 2-3 hours! Mind just racing... Now I can't use anything Sativa heavy at least 3-4 hours before bed time. I very rarely have more than 1 strain on me though, just how it is where I am.

I like the relaxation of Sativa but I hate how lazy I get on it. It just makes me want to eat and lay around so I avoid it when I get the choice.

Fave strand - Matanuska Thunderfuck aka Alaska Thunderfuck. I'm an Alaskan girl so it's what I grew up on and it's a really strong Sativa high. Packs a punch so a bag would last me forever and ever. I live on the east side of the US now and should be getting some next week and I'm really excited. Haven't had any Alaskan green for almost a year now! Plus I have a brand new PAX to use for my very first time vaping =)

Sativa keeps me awake as well.
The best sleep medicine for me are INDICAS.
Sativa at night no way!

I rathwer vape a sativa before bed as an iondica, sure an indica knocks you right into sleep, but in that case I also often awake groggy. while if it's the kind of energetic no-sleep sativa, I can just ride out the high, reach a piont later in the night where I start to get sleepy, satisfied about a good night, and wake up refreshed

As long as I vaporize I'm good when I awake.
Glass parts are best in my case.

Just got a GREAT batch of Super Silver Haze. I like it better than the Blue Dream I just got at the same time. While the Haze high is shorter lived, it comes on a lot faster and the high is higher. Come down is very clean...........no burned out feeling or tired feeling at all. One good hit from the LSV on the Haze, and I'm fine for about an hour and a half.

I can't stand weed that makes me lazy and zonked out. So I really prefer energetic weed. Maybe its because I don't have medical sources, but I find it unreliable when people say a strain is indica or sativa to be a correlation with energy.

My favorite way to socialize is a light vape with sativa and a cup of coffee. I feel really calm, my mind stays clear, I am intelligible, yet don't get anxious or mind silence. Besides I'm usually with people who are drinking.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I'm a fan of hybrids, but if I have to choose between purity, then I prefer sativas over indicas. I enjoy the buzzy head high of a good pure sativa. A pure heavy indica hits my body so hard and usually locks me to one spot for awhile. This leads me to doze off, which is great at night, but not very fun during the day. If I've got nothing to do all day, I'll vape some indica strains, but I'll be napping. To me, a good hybrid usually tastes the best and offers me the best overall high. The mix of the heady high combined with the lighter body feel that most hybrids offer is my favorite.

My first post but I've been lurking for a while.

This conversation is so enlightening (like most post on this particular site).
I truly enjoy the dearth of frat boy grab-@$$ that exists on this site.
The science here is always impressive.

I live in fly over country and am further isolated by my age (i.e. most folks my age don't hang out and don't talk about strains etc).

This particular thread opened my eyes to my historical encounters with the herb.
When I was a boy in my late teens and the herb began to go mainstream we almost exclusively got "Mexican" which meant seedy oz./$15.
This was light weight, fun, conversational herb.
Based on what I've read here probably sativa (native to the Americas?).

After the Army I moved to Madison WI.
In the early to mid 70's Colombian killed the market for Mexican.
The Colombian we got was browner than the Mexican, much more of a couch lock effect.
Based on this thread I'm guessing the Colombian was Indica.

Two outliers I fondly remember were tai stick and Oxacan.
Tai stick was borderline psychedelic, I'm guessing Indica.
Oxacan was a bright (almost neon) green and got you outgoing and up - I'm guessing sativa.

That was probably the last sativa I ever had (based on what I'm reading here).
I really miss the buzz of greener Mexicans, particularly Oxacan.
So in keeping with the thread theme that puts me in the Sativa camp - but it's all good.

Currently I have younger friends who have associates in CO and I generally get what ever finds it's way back here from CO.
The kids will toss out names for the herbs but in the past I've never paid much attention to the names (once I remember a "NY diesel") .

My lament is that there is nothing here in fly-over country where you can walk in and say I'd like a "fill in your choice here".
That notion has me salivating.

I am going, with some of my younger friends, to CO this week so maybe I'll see more.

Thanks for the site and thanks to the members for all the truly useful, and maturely presented information.

I remember we had a summer here (Southern California - SFV), early/mid-80s. That summer, true Thai hit our area. The stuff before, they always called Thai, was an imposter... brown and wretched, imo.

Then the real stuff showed up. A deep, dark green, extremely odoriferous. The high felt sublime. We finished it off quick, rushing back to our source, bought more. Every week, back for more... it didn't take long however, maybe a couple of weeks. But, the nature of Thai came on with a wicked vengeance. COUCH LOCK. We would smoke a few bowls and then do nothing, but vegetate and listen to music.

Every week... that's all our hookup had. Everyone else was dry, this guy had a straight, steady connect to nothing but this. The entire summer. By the end of that one, I was truly burnt-out.

Oh and

You got 'em backwards. This is how I remember it: sativa cerebral, indica inside you.

Sativa is the Mexican, Thai, and Oaxacan from your description. Borderline psychedelic, conversational, "fun," outgoing. Sativas tend to have a cannabinoid ratio that's higher in THC and lower in CBD.

Indica is the stone. Body feels like gravity times a hundred, munchies for days. Falling asleep on the couch halfway through the movie. Colombian sounds like it was indica, so it had higher CBD and lower THC ratios.

All these strains I have access to today are awesome but sometimes I really wish I could go back in time and grab a couple pounds (probably for $100 or so LOL) and sample the offerings of the day.

omg... fix yer quotes!

Thai is classified as a Sativa, but the only real stuff I've ever seen, is extremely high in everything. It knocks you on your ass. My tolerance now is probably higher (even though I was a HUGE stoner)... but back then, it was just too much and that really is saying a lot. We used to get some incredible strains back in the day, in these parts.
