This Transformer Tubes bong base on GC is it the next thing I'm going to buy I've been looking for something like this. at 6" tall 8" if I add the mouthpiece. I'm sure nobody else would ever but this is what I've been looking for and it ships from the USA I wonder if the slide and D/S are made in the US. I can't find anyone else selling it and I think I would be willing to pay more and I know nothing else on the market can come close in price for. I don't mind the rubber that much I can't see how it could burn and harm me? All for $44 shipped http://www.grasscity.com/us_en/transformer-tubes-equipped-base-glass-downstem-bowl.html#.UPEcsvI8CSo Okay let me have it how stupid dose it sound?

mod note: Your post is completely off topic and doesn't belong here or in any brand specific thread. This would have probably been the best place for it- http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/cheap-high-quality-bubbler.5255/page-45#post-324120

In the Glassblowersdirect thread?

Yeah... I agree. :D

Other than that... don't really know what you're asking? Or are you? Do I like what you picked out? No.

My FC special from Sam is also chugging along just fine. I know the Lev special is a heavy duty piece, and it was a great price. I've heard comments from quite a few happy customers. But personally I was looking for a piece that was a little lighter to handle and I liked the looks. I'm especially happy with it at the $120 price with plain downtube.

Does anyone know if the showerhead Beaker on there worth buying or will it crack in a months or two use

Just my :2c:, but the Lev FC Lattice bub is a whole 'nother level of glassware.
He was selling a piece that looked like it could easily sell for $300-400 (I believe the regular price is $250ish, don't quote me on that though) for $159,
While Sam was selling a piece that looked to be closer to $200ish for $100-140.
(Those initial figures are just what I'd estimate the regular prices would be from looking at pics of the bubs.)

When I saw the deal on the lattice, my internal GAS monologue said "Jump the fuck on that deal, MAKE IT HAPPEN"
When I saw this bub, it said "Hmm, this looks like a nice piece, you want it... Oh, no intl shipping, never mind..."

Like I said, just my :2c: (and just to be clear, I still kinda want one )
Thanks for giving your input Frederick. Being a big noob at this glass stuff, I don't really have the critical eye that some of y'all have. It's very interesting to hear what you experienced people think.

I'm pretty happy with my GBD FC bub as my first piece of glass. After using it for a while, though, I think that personally I'd prefer something much smaller. Seems like most of the smaller stuff out there all have male joints for use with dabbing, but I only want something with a female joint. I've been considering asking Sam what it would cost to put something small together for me.

Hey placetime, my first piece too. Part of the reason I chose this bub over the Lev is that it looked smaller. I found the various fc bubs to be on the large side of what I vaguely had in mind. Yep, I can understand going smaller. I know I've searched online and found a few, good looking, small bubs. Some I'm sure in these forums.

During this research it occured to me that some bubblers though taller may feel quite small by their narrowness, sturdiness. handiness etc. Also, one can pursue smaller in terms of less drag. For instance, the Dirty Rico Apocoline (which BDV has been enjoying with his HI twig and posting about on the Dirty Rico thread) looks like it would feel much smaller than the total height dimension might convey - handy (grab-able), light yet sturdy, and small volume and minimal drag.

Hate to ask, but what do you and Sam have in mind?

I hear ya. I was thinking exactly the same way about the various FC bubs.

That one looks pretty cool, but I'm too much of a cheapskate for that one. I also want something that is physically smaller in addition to wanting something with the function/feel of a smaller piece.

No problem with you asking. But I haven't even approached Sam about it at all yet. Haven't really gotten further than musing over the idea in this thread. :uhh: Whenever I manage to figure out what exactly I want and someone manages to pry the money out of my hands so I can buy it, I'll be sure to post.

Nothing from gbd is really worth buying dude is a sketch I'd just go through alt and get quality, branded glass unless of course you need a dab set up for 15$ can't be beat.

You're welcome to your opinion. I disagee though. And your opinion can't include calling me "retarded" for expressing my opinion. Yes, I saw your post before you edited it. I'd suggest reading the rules.

Alright, I look forward to it. I wish I bookmarked the various small bubs I found. Some of which I'm sure I found within fc. I did just come across the Cheech Micro Showerhead Bubbler. Anyway, I recommend getting some ideas from the various threads here. Good luck.

Now, I'm fishing for help ordering a few custom bits from oregonglassblower (Mike) for this bub. I am ready to pull the trigger, but first need to clarify a few things.
Note to mods: Excuse similar post within the oregonglassblower thread, but an admin has already OK'ed it as this is a rare case where a post makes sense in two different threads. If still bothered, please delete the similar thread in the oregonglassblower (Mike) forum.

Here is my shopping list:
1. 18.8mm to 14.4mm 6 Slot Showerhead Downstem.
2. 14mm (and perhaps an 18mm) angled whip adapter for SSV.
3. 14mm straight whip adapter (in order to use the whip instead of mp with the bub as onigiri1692 has done).
4. and 5. 18mm glass stopper, 14mm glass stopper - to help with cleaning.

6. and 7. If I'm feeling flush, I'd like to get a taller setup with the bub via a custom bent neck mouthpiece and 14/14 male angled adapter as Tweak and Jam have done. I assume I'd want as light a mp as possible and perhaps a clip to help with the swiveling that Jam mentioned. I suspect I'll opt out of this custom mp for now and will make do with the whip as mouthpiece as my taller setup.

Questions:
1. Downstem length. I know there was debate between BDV, Tweak and others between 4½" or 4¾" length from bottom of gg grind to bottom of ds. I've measured 5¼ total length - top of dewaar to bottom and 1⅛ for the length of gg joint of the bub. Based on this, should I order a 4½" or 4¾" ds from Mike?
2. SSV Whip adapter. Tweak could you please re-post the picture of Mike's WPA?
3. Taller setup. Perhaps just the 14/14 male angled (45 deg) adapter combined with the stock mp might raise the height enough to be worthwhile. Then at a later date I may come across a bent mp or feel so inclined to order one. Has anybody else tried an angled adapter and the stock mp?
4. I anticipate getting a HI this year  , I assume no special glass bits are needed to mate with this bub other than a roasting tube?

I have to disagree with max.

I most certainly CAN tell the future.

It will rain tomorrow, someplace. Verify, if you need to.

1. Downstem length.

I bought the 4 5/8th stem, but it doesn't sit flush with the bubbler. As you see in the image below.

2. SSV Whip adapter. Tweak could you please re-post the picture of Mike's WPA?

Here you go.

Yeah it's not much better than stock.

Nice! Thanks Tweak - including for keeping your camera setup consistent across all 3 mp setups. Makes for easy comparisons. Yeah I suspect the adapter and stock mp would be too weird an angle, and yeah ... sigh ... I can imagine liking your tall setup. I'm feeling cheap lately and may pass on a tall setup for now. Yours and Jam's pics are great for reference.

And that WPA pic and the specs that you posted will get this key bit sorted.

I bought the 4 5/8th stem, but it doesn't sit flush with the bubbler. As you see in the image below.
What do you mean by this? Is the lo pro not so low - the gg part riding high somehow and thereby preventing it sliding in fully? BDV I recall you upping your ds length from 4½" to 4 5/8"?

No need to 'scuse yourself there Tweak. Appreciated that you came through though .

Yeah its the gg part that doesn't fit flush. Don't know if it was just mine or if all are like this, so ymmv.

I'd be pretty pissed, if mine sat flush. Be a pain in the ass to get out.

I upped the size of mine and got lucky. Hand-blown glass, 1/8ths are going to make a difference. I'd just go with the standard most got... which I think was 4 5/8".

Thanks Tweak and BDV, I'll go with 4 5/8".

I'll likely trim my list down to the angled 14mm WPA, the straight 14mm WPA, the ds, and the stoppers. As I'm switching to a log this year, the angled WPA's are temporary so I'll just get the one. I'll wait and see how the HI feels with this bub before thinking of the custom MP (and avoid sinking too much on this bub).

I'm looking forward to improving my current setup - using the WPA instead of jamming the whip into the bub; a somewhat quieter and less chuggy bub via the showerhead ds; a whip instead of mp for when I'm feeling lazy; and easier cleaning with the stoppers.

The HI works well with the bubbler. In fact, I'm starting to enjoy in more, since I removed the extra downstem. Once I got used to the larger bore size, with my DR... it kind of stuck with the GBD also. Now that I'm using the RezBlock, keeping glass cleaner and rotating easier... I've been enjoying it more.

But, its a real free flowing, very little drag setup.

I really think you should get the MP setup that jam has on her's, except change it to a female end. It will be a more solid connection/less wiggle and as previously mentioned, good keck clips will reduce/eliminate MP rotation. I don't have any issue with my Infamous (which is the same setup) since I put the keck on.

Hmm, interesting - and good to hear. It certainly looks fine together with your Sumac HI on the video review of this bubbler that you posted. I haven't tried w/o ds and probably won't until I've got my HI. So, I can really only guess at the effect of this. For now, I'll get setup with the 14mm WPA, Mike's ds and my SSV. I would think that one could hit this HI+gbd hand-held fairly easily? Perhaps with a certain tube? - and yes, I"ll probably get into this more on the HI forum down the road.

Ha, I was wondering which mating would produce a stronger connection. However, as much as I'd like a taller setup, I'm gonna postpone the custom mp to keep costs low and to evaluate once paired with a HI. Perhaps then I'll start considering a custom mp or a different bub altogether. (Something smaller and more amenable to hand-held use perhaps). For now, I want a more comfortable (WPA), less draggy, less chuggy setup for my SSV (which will be deprecated once HI).
So, I'm just waiting for Mike's quote for the trimmed list (w/o custom mp) which I'll compare to the full package (w/ custom mp). Looking forward to finally getting properly setup with this bub.

Just a bit of an update, I have been using my GBD bub almost daily since receiving it back in November and am still absolutely loving it. There have been no problems what so ever with my piece. I have toted the piece to friend's houses, smoked out of it, vaped out of it, and have cleaned it dozens of times with ISO, Salt, and hot water. So far, so good.

Anyways just thought I would chime in with all this negative talk regarding GBD and Sam. :2c:

I can attest to a similar experience as oni. I have not been especially gentle on this piece in any special way and it's done it's job well to date without fault. While it's not necessarily my daily driver, my collection is like a little league softball team, everyone plays. The GBD Bub is getting it's time on the field and I am happy with the return on the investment. I actually expect this piece to break first....that's eh, why I bought it in many ways. (Some people don't quite always understand the cost of really nice glass, they get the GBD).

For what I paid, I knew what I was getting and I'm happy with the end result. IME with Sam, I can however see where others may be having problems with his services. I'd rather not get into details, but I don't know if I'd buy another piece from GBD myself, but I am happy I bought the first one.

hey i was jsut wondering what advantage does the extra ds add? i would think it is a bit redundant, or just it work similarly to a double honeycomb piece?

edit: i noticed alot of people having trouble with their sh bub, but can anyone comment on the $60 bub? im a bit curious about this one.

Bon Dog,

We're here to fuck shit up.
4 months of continuous daily use, with an LSV with an AC on top, and using an LSV transfer wand as a mouthpiece with an adapter and this thing keeps on doing its job. I experienced a bit of chipping at the mouthpiece joint, but it hasn't spread or hurt the functionality of the piece. It doesn't get treated roughly nor does it get treated with kids gloves. Its been a reliable daily driver for me. I do have a pristine back up though, just in case. :D

Glad to hear no one else has had an issue.

I repaired mine with a thick coat of white silicone. It doesn't look pretty but still functions just fine and doesn't leak. Wonder if a glass blower could fix the crack?

I've recently went back to no downstem, feels like less drag. Harder to pace yourself, but more control of your hit speed.

I'm kinda regretting the removable mouth piece. The custom bent is my favorite but keeps spinning downward, and the straight feels too awkward of an angle. Wish I could use a clip. Guess I could use some Sugru, :D.
