Hi Pipes,

ok, black and silver go through the same hard anodization process, and the black is pretty good for stratch resistance. but if you drop it, and the scratch penetrates the surface, it will show up more on the black vs the silver. the color choice is really all about personal preference :)

sorry, the FV is only available with the packaged accessories as a set, but I can guarantee you that you will not find a better package at the price though...
Thanks Flash, I believe I'm finding myself falling off the fence.
Is it still valid to mention I'm a FC'er?

Also, was just googling around about possible auto/preset control and found this MIDI series programmable ecig.
Found it an entertaining read. Can't believe they want to charge for different set programs for the device.
IMO, shows what lies around the corner here.

Thanks guys for clarifying,
Pipes

If you get the FV Pipes, we can be the only FlashVapers in town.
I'm sitting on the screen, deciding on what colour. Decisions, decisions.......
What colour did you get? Any particular reason?

EDIT:

Just one more question. I promise?
Is there a place the mouthpiece stores on-board?

no, unfortunately there isn't.... there simply was not enough room to design an on-board storage for the draw tube, while keeping the FV's streamline and sleek outer shape.

I have the black and I love it. The silver looks pretty cool though...very futuristic. I know they have a gun metal come out as well sometime in the future.

This is what I am loving about the FV the most...simple, yet versatile. I haven't cleaned mine since getting it and it is still plugging along and tasting great.

The FV makes me feel as though I could do anything I wanted with it with a little technique except vape oils. It has the heat but I don't think the double screen will work the way it does with kief. I think I mentioned that the two screen system means you can use kief with no fear, because the removable screen protects the heater screen by catching any clogging and is trivial to clean with ISO.

It's true that the FV rarely needs cleaning, but when you do have to clean, it's really quick and easy. I did it the first time I tested to combustion to see if it got rid of the burnt taste. I didn't know at the time how long the taste would linger. Turns out that it doesn't really. The swivel cap filter is pretty fine and catches some ash if you combust. Clean that and presto! This screen is the highest maintenance part of the FV. I have to brush it clear after every load, demanding I know. I think when you say you haven't cleaned it you're not counting brushing this screen, because otherwise you'd be plugged solid.

If you get the FV Pipes, we can be the only FlashVapers in town.

Not in the GTA, though ;)

I got the Classic Silver because I think it has more of the steampunk look. If the Gun Metal had been available I would have gotten that. You've seen my Imgur album, right?

Well just ordered the black. Had the silver in my sites and last second switch to black. :freak:

When you get it I know you'll immediately feel that you owe us a large debt but please, nothing more expensive than a Rolex. I can't speak for Tweek but I do this mostly as a public service.

I The window between vapour production and combustion is tiny, a second or less. Miss that window and you've got a cherry. I should point out that this includes pulling on it to slow down the heating. I was hitting at around 3 seconds and releasing it at around 5. Any longer would reach combustion.

How do you get the technique down? I don't seem to be getting the feel for it...I'm either combusting or not reaching the good vapor production...I feel kinda dumb...I think it's also the psychological effect of not seeing ton of smoke like I used to.. This is my intro into the world of vaping!

1) The "Pak" method: pulsing the power to get consistant performance
2) The "Tweek" method: micro-hits to fill a lung or two with awesome vapor
3) The "LB" method: power on while drawing to pull huge clouds

It would be so awesome if there were videos demonstrating these techniques :p

3rd hit: hahaha now that's what I'm talking about!

As the smoke billows I swear I felt time slow down, internet video contact high! :ko:

Yup, that's about it all right. Baits you right in with a lame hit or two and that grin......

Classic Vitolo for sure, not sure about the sound track? Nice hat, too.

There is no secret technique, IMO. You need to learn to control it. In that respect this is probably a poor choice for a 'learner vape', especially if you have poor self restraint. Start 'cloud chasing and you're SOL in my experience. There's a very narrow band of conditions it'll work at all well in, you have to control that well or should probably try a different sort of vape.

That said, I'd suggest you strictly follow the 'factory instructions. Strictly. Fresh (or reasonably so) herb, well ground and dry more than covering the bottom but less than half deep. Fresh or nearly so battery. Shake between hits. Let it cool a bit between hits. You want the same starting and running conditions, right?

Power up for exactly 5 seconds. Not 4 or 6, as close to the same 5 seconds each time. I count down: 5, 4, 3, and so on. Then drop the power and draw slowly. After say 10 seconds go again. This time some heat will remain so the same 5 seconds will take you hotter a bit. Shake between hits. Second or third such hit should start to taste some. The next will taste even more. That second or maybe the third should also start THC vapor production. You should start seeing faint 'smoke', really vapor, increasing over the next several hits. Stick strictly to five seconds until you can run bowl after bowl this way to light brown color that produces much lower than peak vapor and 'tastes different'. Do not press on if you taste 'burnt popcorn' sort of taste, even to a very minor bit. That taste may be all the warning you get before combustion.

As I said, it's not my first choice for learning about vapor because it's so powerful. I strongly suggest following the above (boring) routine and leaving 'power user' techniques until you've mastered the basic machine. After that, more advanced techniques will not only be a lot easier to take on but one or more might seem natural to you by then?

Your call. Good luck.

I made the sound track using synthesized tones on the Imac garage band.
@Shad0w
If I used the micro hit technique, I would have done a dozen sips for that result.
that was a standard FV hit triple.
I depressed button 5 seconds, and released and in one pull sipped the vapor, and held it as I shook... repeated the breath.. etc.. for 3 standard hits, "gathered"

Vaping will not produce the same kind of effect when you exhale as smoking, since the vapor is much thinner than smoke produced through burning. Thus, you may be right to assume that some psychological effect is involved if you are having the same kind of expectations.

If you use the simple method as described in the manual, you are essentially taking in thinner amounts of vapor as compared with the more advanced methods as described earlier, (the "Pak" method, the "Tweek" method, the "LB" method...). Nevertheless, you WILL get vaped all the same, and fast, even with the "simple" method. The best way to avoid reaching combustion when using the simple method is to keep a mental count of how many seconds before you reach combustion with a trial of error type approach (timing may be slightly different for each user based on the type of material you are vaping), and keep your power-on time within this limit. This may take a little practice, but you will get the technique down with some use.

One of the easier advanced method of getting bigger clouds for the beginner flashvaper is the LB method, whereby you press and hold the power-on button for 2-3 seconds until vapor starts to form (which you can see coming up through the top window or out the side vent holes), then you start to draw right away, with the power still on, while adjusting your draw speed to match the desired amount of vapor being produced (the faster you daw, the quicker the air-flow through the heating element to cool down the acceleration of heat and vapor being produced). The key here is to find the perfect match of the speed of the inhale to the amount of vapor, so that an equalibrium is reached whereby the FV is continuously producing the desired amount of vapor, without reach combustion.

Pak, Tweek, hope you guys dont mind if I coin FV techniques after you alumnis of the FV acadamy! ;) If anyone else has different advanced methods which they'd like to share, we'd be happy to do the same!

Learning to vapourize using the FV is like learning to drive in a Porsche GT3 or fly in an F-18. You can do it but it's so much harder.

I agree with your analysis. That is how I approached it, I mastered the basic method and built on it. I think that at some point you bond with the FV and suddenly you just know when to take your thumb off the button. It will take longer for a novice to get there for sure, but the reward is worth the journey.

Another way to look at it is getting a Porsche GT3 for the price of a Volkswagon Beatle :) We want the FV to be a "people's vape" and to put the FV in the hands of as many users as possible... thus we have priced the unit as low as we possibly can. Please help us spread the word.

.....Enjoy!

I see 3 or 4 patients a week, at my home that want to see all the choices at their disposal.
I proudly display the FV as "patient friendly", and as a good tool, with great backing/support.
More specifically I am pleased to let them know how easy the thing is on the pocket.
I also feel great pride in telling them that we here at FC.com are the 1st to meet FV and to talk amongst the vapor community as family.
You bet we are going to get this unit into user's hands!
