I'm trying to upload some pics. To show y'all. The tape is on outside back cover, but binds to inside the frame. Away from vapor path. Any how if any of those nasty plastic smells make it into the air path then it cannot be too good. That plastic skeleton inside stinks and my wife hates its aroma. I also ran the freezer test and did not get the temp light issue. I have to do a clean its been over a week since... Pax working well. The battery circuit on pax is less than desirable when it comes to batt level check. Since my battery terminal mod I notice that. If I run it to red, then smack put full charge cell in it says its red... Go figure, that when I place it on charge for 4 seconds, it registers green! It runs green for one oven on low finishing off on high for 4 mins, all party mode. If I run it till it cuts out then I need to cradle it in the charger for 4 secs to activate it too.... So I have a 9v battery to activate the cradle on the go with.. No issues. So orange battery light fast, run it empty and then full charge it to reset the batt gauge on the pax. Not use bit and back on charger all time, include a once a week discharge recharge, like a laptop. Also fear not when battery does die in a year, just get an 18650 2200 or 2400 mAh cell, the protected one tho! Unwrap that cell and take small Pcb off negative, cut strip wire at top after removal of cap. The left over strip welded to cell terminals will solder. Desolder old batt and resolder new batt, red wire to plus side.. Then use her like new once you slide it shut again. Watch for lamp translite, and battery holder plastic, just pushed on to skeleton. Also don't loose those small magnets. I'll post pics when I know how.. Go to this to see some pics.

What r u putting in your pax to make the oven so disgusting? Mine is shiny like new and I use it 3 to 4 sessions a day.

Pipe tobaccy... It tastes good vapes good like weed, nice for day time hitting. I not weed during the day see, flying, working or looking after my boys. Either way weeding is for night skies. Pipe tobacco makes her gunk up fast, but a spray and a scrape set it straight in 5mins its like new. Also notice that tobacco works from mid better, weed its wicked on low if its got lots of trichromes.

Great Scott!
So what battery is in the pax stock? You make it sound easy to upgrade, and I have no warranty since I got mine used...

Here's the battery in situ:

That is a BAK 3.7V 2600 mAH C18650CC. The tabs are soldered. Good luck.

Good luck with what? I'm just wondering what is out there for compatible batteries that physically fit and are larger.

I thought that was obvious. Good luck with getting that out, finding a suitable battery (because it's certainly not as simple as finding a battery with more capacity), getting the new one in, and ending up with a properly working Pax. I'll give you a head start: search this thread for posts by dudeeitsbrian.

So I have been away from the forum for a while and was curious about a few of the things I saw glancing through what I've missed:
When people are talking about blowing out the mouthpiece to prevent temp light issue, what end are they blowing through? How often?
What exactly is the lube for? Temp light issues? How does that work? If it is foe temp light, is it helping people? Thanks for any info.

They were saying to blow into the mouthpiece same way as you'd hit it but opposite. Supposedly the heat or moisture of your breath would stop the temp light issue. The lube you put on the downstem of your mouth piece in the moving ring. I haven't had a temp light issue on mine and a believe it's working for others as well. Just get on ur pc and either email ploom or get on their live chat and ask for some and they'll mail you a couple packets.

I've been lurking and wading through this ocean of a thread...I just wanted to get a current view of how much material is used with this device. I'm trying to decide between Pax and Inhalater XP--I think i've taken the solo out of the race now.

So how efficient is this beauty at dealing with smaller loads? I need to conserve-- not use more. From what I've gathered, it is best when fully packed but how does that translate into real world use. I've read some accounts of using significantly more with Pax compared to other units. Any thoughts?

smaller the load, IN MY OPINION, the more efficient. They are great.

I disagree that they work best fully packed, they get the best clouds fully packed, but I think they work best half or 2/3rds full. I avoid filling it to the top, Id prefer smaller packs that way I don't have as many burnt popcorn tasting hits.
Edit- On a unrelated matter, And I apologize in advance for being off topic, but look at this! just did it myself, kinda cool- wanted to share with someone but I dont want to post this on my facebook haha

Yeah that's a good point, with a large load the first few hits are incredible but you have to wade through lots of toasty hits to get the most out of the bowl. I too prefer a half filled bowl

Thx Joe and Mr. K...I appreciate the feedback. Do you guys feel like you are using more material than say with another vape?

Anyone else...feel free to chime in?

Got my vinyl wrap from DX last week. Wrapped up my cobalt pax in black carbon fibre (faux)
and off to the races. The Pax does not get so hot as to warrant any concern for me, at least so far.
will post pics later today....

its been mentioned before, shipping from DX will take awhile (at least 6 weeks ), but still not bad for a $4 sheet of vinyl wrap.
