Or a picture of an actual unit, and is the internal stuff designed similar to the da vinci, im assuming with the glass no, but im still probably gonna wait to see about off gassing...
It's using li-ion batteries, not butane, so no gassing problems.

The glass stem goes directly into the glass lined bowl, so any off gassing is not even an option. The DV was also not actually off gassing, I'll update that in the DV thread though.

Also, someone asked about the breakage possibility of the glass. Given that the entire bowl and stem is hugged by a silicone sleeve, breakage is unlikely as long as the stem is recessed, not to mention the glass is Pyrex, so pretty strong. Now if you happen to drop the unit while the stem is pulled out, of course it could break. The entire unit has the ability to be disassembled, so replacement pieces are available. The industry (you guys) have been asking for a pure GonG vapor path on a portable, so we listened and built this...but as with any materials there has to be some type of compromise.

When I get in the office in the am, I'll post some size specs. I wish I had good pictures of the unit, but we're all going to have to wait just a little while. We're still working on the outside aesthetics, so our testing samples aren't pretty enough to post just yet.

If anyone is attending Big or Champs in February, come by and see me and I'll show you the units personally :)

Well, I'll try to be on here to answer questions as much as possible and will give you guys all the info that I have. Unfortunately, coordinating a product launch is time consuming..but trust me I'd rather be on FC all day! We know that your insight is extremely valuable to our launch and overall success.

Thanks for the answers. I was the one asking about fragility. The GonG design will deliver terrific taste, but does the Ascent continue to heat the load when you aren't drawing on it, a la the Pax? What's the heat up time? What's the temperature range? Did you bring me a cookie?

I know its already been kinda mentioned that your wrong, but you Might wanna check your facts before you post,

Won't have more cookies until Monday!

Well, regarding the heating of the load, I think that anytime you have material in a hot bowl, it will continue to heat. This is especially true if its at a super high temp like 400F. I've never really noticed it being a problem with the DV though..same thought process on the Ascent.

Heat up time is around 45 seconds, and it will heat to 405F. Thought about changing it to 430, but it just seems so unnecessary.

Thanks kushcabbage! We really wanted to use real wood grain, but the heat and humidity was causing it to crack :( Looks like the wood model will use a high tech printing, the black one is simply matte black aluminum. We are playing around with 2 more styles right now including blue and silver aluminum and wait for it.(peta may not be happy)........real croc skin!

I actually like the 410F range that I get with other ones. I would like it a bit higher, but believe that it is probably unnecessary. :-)

I really like the design of this thing. It's pretty awesome. :-) Can't wait to hear more info :-)

As readers of the Pax thread know, I am always pointing out that constant heating of the load means that flavour deteriorates faster. It'll be interesting to see how much flavour the all-glass path preserves. As for the range, I think the low end is just as important as the high end. Did I miss the low end?

The low end is Zero. Ascent has digital temp control, so really the temp is up to the user. I agree with the constant heat, but unless you have a flash heat the warmth in the bowl will not dissipate that quickly, especially if you leave the heating element on. Logically, only the material touching the actual bowl will continue to be hot, not the materials in the center. That requires airflow.

For the connoisseurs of temperature control out there, the Ascent will have a function that allows the user to adjust the setting of vaporizer temperature automatically. For example, you set it to stay at 360 for 3 mins, go up to 375 for 2 mins and then to 380 for 2 mins.

Once these hit the market it will be interesting to see what settings people are using to extract...er cookies. Everyone in this office is a temperature junkie...so we always ask "What's your Vape Temp"? I'm a 372.

Oh my! Can we get the JTAG connector and its accompanying development kit as an option?...

Euh... Ah! Ah! Just joking a bit - well, sort of...

DV... If it's possible, do this.

Allow the user to set up a few profiles that dictate heat settings.

I would love the ability to "free-vape" and have Preset 1 set up so that it vapes at specific temps. The way I see myself possibly using this is having Preset 1 be my "emergency shit hits the fan I need hard vapors STAT" kind of thing. I get random bouts of nausea that don't wait for me to sit down and set up my vape. When it hits, it might creep in slowly over an hour, or it might plow into me within the minute. I would seriously appreciate the ability to have the emergency setting there, the peace of mind of having it go straight to high temps and deliver CBDs would be a selling point to me!

Ideally it would be uploadable, like a recipe of sorts that I just set temps and times and "export" it out. If that makes sense...

Will be closely watching this one, unfortunately my life took a turn for the worse again and have been in the PCU (right under ICU) at the hospital since yesterday afternoon, so there go any spending fund I had :/

Cheering from the sidelines,

Q.
