Outrage: Texas Women Cavity Searched by Police Over Alleged Marijuana Smell

A civil liberties disaster.

So you say you don't smoke pot, so how could the War on Drugs affect me?

Watch that video. It's in Texas, but it could be anywhere in America... well, except now Washington and Colorado, because marijuana is not contraband there, and the smell of it in a car is not probable cause to search its driver and passengers.

In the video, reported by the UK Daily Mail and all over the national and international media, a trooper pulls over two women -- a woman and her niece -- for allegedly throwing a cigarette butt out of the car.

While talking to the women in the car over a littering charge, the trooper claims he smells marijuana. He then searches the car and finds no marijuana. He then administers a sobriety test, which the woman who was driving passed. No marijuana, no impaired driving, and the observation of a police officer that they might have littered from a car that smells like pot.

So, naturally, he calls a female trooper to the scene to search the women for any contraband marijuana they might have been hiding under their breasts, in their colons, or up their vaginas. Because sober littering driver pot smell drugs are bad, mmmkay?

No, really. The female trooper puts on a pair of latex gloves, tugs on the bras and feels up the underboob of the first lady, then reaches down the crack of her ass to insert a finger into her anus, then turns her around to reach down the front of her pants to slip two fingers into her vagina. Then the female officer repeats the process with the other lady, without changing gloves.

Why? Because marijuana is contraband. Medical marijuana doesn't fix this. Decriminalization doesn't fix this. Only legalization makes the possession of marijuana the possession of something that is not contraband.

When one of the ladies, in shock, expresses the outrage she feels over being sexually assaulted by people with guns for allegedly littering, the male trooper actually says, "It's because someone's a daily [pot] smoker in that car, you can attribute it to that."

When they started the "Don't Mess With Texas" anti-littering campaign, I do not think this was what they had in mind. What was the government's interest here, protecting other drivers in case one of them whipped out a blunt from her lady parts and lit it up while driving? That they may have been drug mules trying to smuggle... well, how much marijuana do you suppose they could have been carrying up there, anyway?

The women are, of course, suing the shit out of the state troopers involved. It also turns out that one of the ladies' legally prescribed bottles of hydrocodone was missing, last handled by the police during the search. The women never gave consent to be searched and when questioning the searches were told, "don't worry about that." And the state troopers have been ignoring consistent complaints about this kind of punitive strip searching activity.

Wow, got the back to front treatment.

That's disgusting.

I would sue the shit out of them as well.

Jesus. Somehow I missed this little detail. That's really atrocious and dehumanizing.

Texas is the state that slapped a guy in prison for a 10 year stretch for possession of one joint years ago, then kept him there even after the law changed and the penalties for possession were lowered. 'Don't mess with Texas' is a good slogan when it comes to any kind of legalities. Seems like every time I hear about someone getting legally screwed, it ends up being in the Lone Star State.

Santa Claus got arrested in front of the Capitol in Austin, just before Christmas, for writing on the sidewalk with chalk, but the charge was evading arrest.

Indeed, like insult needs to be added to prejudice! Because, euh... I simply dunno.

Only a few days ago i thought handcuffs on a 5 years old child was settling the age limit to expect for police abuse but it seems now i should Google around some more:

...plain forgot about women biological cavities being a perfect stealthy way to hide criminals!!

With no anti-cannabic laws/treaties this wouldn't be allowed to happen. I guess...

I do know someone who got some really good hash back from Jamaica that way.

Since at the time cannabis was already a target, of course. Otherwise that person would have put it elsewhere, in the luggages for example...

But why all this? Because when caught with it cannabis makes one "guilty" it seems.

That's hell and i wasn't told!

I grew up in Tx and I was striped and cavity searched at 14. If you think this is bad in open view, wait till you read up on the young girls and boys that are "searched" behind closed doors with no video or anyone to help. Also read up on the by-standard effect and also authroity realtiy subconcious tricks.

How long would the local town sheriff stay alive having his troll feel up women around town. Eventually some ones father, uncle, brother, friend, anyone with a pair would take that offical out....in 1890?

Bottom line this stuff is very hard to watch and read about. It bums out my whole week sometimes. This is the reason national news is a joke. You can't have bodies comeing home draped in flags or kops crushing in a kids scull for skatebaording etc. Kops police themselves with a pretend review commision and are never held to pay for this shit.

Also, if the female officer is homo sexual, then it is indeed as bad if not worse if the male officer did the search. Watcha think? I am of the mind they were both sexualy assulted, humiliaded, etc. Rape can be argued by the penatration. Is giving them 20 million each victim going to fix the system? They will NEVER run out of HUSH money. The government is like the Mafia with a credit card linked to the salary of your unborn grandchildren. A few low level enforcement guy's got caught. No big fish equals no change.

Salutations SickWindsor,

If you think this is bad...

I do.

Bottom line this stuff is very hard to watch and read about.

Indeed.

Watcha think?

I'm wordless since i started paying attention, it's no wonder nothing is changing if everyone is like me: i wish i never knew and we're supposed to be on a same side!! Imagine anti-cannabic bigots...

:ugh:

A few low level enforcement guy's got caught. No big fish equals no change.

Thank you, i've just lost my last illusions about Justice.

My heart bleeds for each new story and tomorrow is another day. I was hoping the president of USA might cease the recent occasions to give hope to his people but it's going to be business as usual i guess!

...and us, lucky Cannuck neighbours, we're being run by a man with even less valour and who already gave up his own independance by sending a Canadian activist to some foreign prison only to get a desease...

I had to look up canuck was a slang word for canadians. Cool.

In the US we have the 4th Amendment pertaining to our bill of rights.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The 5th.
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The presumption of innocence, sometimes referred to by the Latin expression Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (the burden of proof lies with who declares, not who denies), is the principle that one is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Hi again SickWindsor,

...and us, lucky Cannuck neighbours...

As a matter of fact i'm not really familiar with this particular expression myself: as proof lets just mention that i've put a pair of "n", as in "French-Cannabian" actually!... Now, how about that one?!!

:brow:

In the US we have the 4th Amendment...

Canada has a constitution too and the province of Québec has its own charter of rights, though it seems some "social engineers" must have come out of nowhere around the WW1 era and those guys convinced the government of my country to sign an international treaty during these difficult times, and yours plus many many more around the globe i believe.

The stigmatization of cannabis users is an insult, plain & simple; favoured by misinformed peoples hoping for an easy answer IMHO.

...innocent until proven guilty.

Gays, communists, foreigners, addicts... Sorcerers and witches... Black cats! There's been quite a lot of bitching in our common histories and today the elite is creating even more categories where to put us: here in Québec you'd find "students" was a hot topic lately, for example.

The list could go on.

:peace:

Ah Canada didn't take a shit untill recently. You guys where nice enough to harbor our citizen's that didn't wanna be drafted in the 70's. Somewhere past that you guys kinda got courupt like us. Not near as bad by the statistics that I have read. However, you guys are going to go down with the US I am afraid. By historical standards you guys are about 25 years ahead of us or behind depending on how you wish to look at the colapse.

I would love to live there but I am afraid they wouldn't let me into the fucking country. America has me a Criminal on paper which limits travel. I might get a snow mobile and coyote my way in.

I am 31, Born and Raised in Dallas Tx. Texas cops are some of the worse I have come across my whole life. Not to mention Texas has 26-27 Private run for profit prisons. More than anywhere else in the world. I lived on the east coast for a year and a half and it was a totally different story.

Ah Canada... ...you guys are going to go down with the US I am afraid.

Since our successive governments have only been an echo of trends originating from USA, our 1st commercial partner, i'll just point out that our respective directing elites aren't always truly acting in our behalf... Which makes sense since our counties are tied by a United Nations treaty dating back to the great depression (enactment was slow to take place but we see the results today):

Isn't it convenient for our own domestic anti-cannabic warriors to have this guy around??

I mean, is it a genuine coincidence when mister Yans declares something to the effect that « this isn't your father's marijuana » (instead of cannabis) while mini-PET repeats the message in his own way:

...a drop in a ocean of misery...

Yes, that's our mutual heritage it seems.
