Volcano Vaporizer is it worth the price?

Is $300 a good price range on a used volcano classic? I think this one works fine, just needs a bit of cleaning. I am just trying to decide if I want to make a trade with a friend for their volcano, and I just don't know much about how the value holds up.

They hold up their value pretty well. A new one is about $539. You would definitely get your money back and maybe then some if you chose to sell it for any reason. Even better if you can get it for $250 :brow:

yes I would snag that up. maybe offer 250 first and just see what they say, but yes I'd pay 300 for mine if i needed a new one. :) that's an easy choice :) mine is 3 years old now. works just like it always did. it's a really solid thing! I even lent it to 2 friends for months at a time! and both of them were disappointingly disrespectful of it when it was in their care...

*edit of i see Tweek beat me to the 250 offer already. :p good job man! :)

yeah, starting to look like that trade may not go through after all, but I did set up another trade with another person for my BL saxo, in exchange for a HA 2.1. I don't know if I will end up with the Volcano or not. Thanks for the help though.

THE VOLCANO VAPORIZER, being the most expensive vaporizer in the world
is it effective ?:/

I use the vulcano easy set every first week ( even more )in a month for 50 $

never had other vapos, but regular vapos work similar.
get the vulcano 4 month ago.

Its a good trade.

Just thought i'd say that iv'e had the volcano digital for more than 5 years and it's still working in perfect condition as when i first got it, and yes it gets used daily. People might complain about the price, but i complain more about the quality of things in life. Back in the day everything used to last for a lifetime, now when you buy something cheap you know it's going to break unless you treat it like gold, and even then it doesn't necessarily mean it won't break on it's own.

I caught a huge steal on my Digital Volcano. 350$ shipped, in mint condition.

Kid accidentaly spelled Volcano V-a-l-c-a-n-o on eBay. He purchased the unit one month earlier in a headshop for 700. He kept it in immaculate condition, and because he spelled the name wrong, practically nobody saw the auction on eBay.

It's a great machine. I can understand why some people are averse to buying one, the price, the reputation etc.

There are other GREAT vapes out there for much cheaper than a Volcano, but this machine will last forever. It's a conversation piece, and it's best served as a social vape.

Some might think the hits are diluted, but they always taste like heaven to me. This would be a great vape for a sick medical patient, you know the build materials are 100% honest, proven, safe and of the utmost quality. In addition, some grandma is not going to fare well taking monstrous tokes off my Buddah, I'm pretty sure the coughing alone could break her back.

The Volcano is not made to put out thick, milky hits that will make you cough. It's best enjoyed as a lighter, pure, tasty hit vape. I personally use my unit the most in the morning.

I wake and bake like many, but I don't prefer to be stoned out of my mind first thing in the morning. The Volcano is like my cannabis breakfast, light, tasty and affords me the energy needed to push through the day. The feeling it gives me is definitely upbeat, and it's more of a creeper effect than my conduction style vapes that hit you right away.

The fan that blows up the balloons is what gives the light, misty quality to the vapor. Or as some might say the airy, diluted hits. To each his own, but the Volcano deserves respect mostly because of it's build quality, materials, design, longevity and purity. It might not be your cup of tea, and you might despise their marketing and the huge reputation this device has acquired, but it's honestly a rock solid device.

Nothing but love here.

They are well built and reliable, but like any other electromechanical device, they can and do break down, and switches, no matter how high the quality, do eventually wear out. Some years ago they had to upgrade/redesign the inner tubing, due to a tendency to get kinked and block air flow. Long term realiability is a process. What's important is that the company tries to correct problems and improve the design, and S&B does that. OTOH I could say the same about my herbalAire-very reliable and a great company to do business with.

It can certainly pay off to find the auctions that most shoppers aren't seeing. I noticed a new member here today, calling his unit Valcano.

I already have other vapes, so I really wasn't looking for another one. But I still like to watch craigslist just to see what might pop up. You never know.
Recently I was shocked to see a 2 year old digital volcano in good condition listed for $60. Even though I was skeptical, I contacted the seller right away and it seemed legit, despite the crazy price. So aware of volcano's big reputation I jumped on it even though the seller said that the thermostat was punking out in high temps, over 390. I figure I can always bring it in for repairs if there is a serious problem . But so far so good, I cranked it up over 400 just to see, what would happen, even though I preferred vaping a few bowls from 370-385 no problemo. I doubt I'll do much vaping over 400 anyway. i can see why a lot of people like the volcano and the bags taste great. Its also more efficient than I imagined and very potent. will I eschew my other vapes and only use the Volcano? Unlikely. The volcano is possibly the best party vape, but its a bit of a production to set up for one person compared to say just clicking on the solo. Its an impressive machine, though, and I'm looking forward to using it.

60$ is a highway robbery my friend. In the past, I have purchased a standard bowl from a head shop for over 60 and it was some cheap-o China glass. 60$ for a wonderfully crafted, medical grade device is an insane grab congrats!

Supposedly Storz and Bickel is pretty good about repairing units that are no longer under the original manufacturers warranty. Granted, you might have to pay a little bit, but you could be looking at a Digicano purchased, rehabbed, and repaired for under 200$ total. That is a steal if I have ever heard of one. I paid 200 for an original iolite when it first came out, paid 225 for a Wispr, you got yourself a great quality desktop vape that should last you a lifetime if you maintain the device yourself and send it in to get serviced for the things you can't fix yourself.

You are totally right, rarely do I ever take my Volcano into the 400 range. About the only time that ever happens is if I am vaping some oil. I usually go 365 on the first bag, 375 on the second.
The Volcano vapor is also super easy to hold in without tickling the throat or lungs.

Really happy that someone else was fortunate enough to land a device like this on the cheap. I know I wouldn't have mine if I had to pay the full 650$ retail price. I probably would have splurged one day, but with the same amount of cash I got myself a mint digicano and da Buddah to compliment it. Happy Vaping

the trade I was after for that older volcano fell through, and the guy decided to ask $250 for his volcano but it just didn't feel right in my gut. I knew that he never cleaned his, and it was in need of some TLC to get it back up and going again. I just didn't want to take the chance, my gut said pass.

I did get the HA in another trade though, so I guess it's a reasonable substitute for blowing up bags.

So far, I'm very impressed with the Volcano. I had never given bags much thought since I already had a solo, a dbv and some portables. I tried a bag with the extreme q once and wasn't impressed. But the Volcano is so easy, efficient and quick that filling a bag takes less than a minute with just enough herb to cover the screen. And the valve system traps everything in the bag. Hitting the bag is airier than with solo or dbv, but satisfying in its own way and extremely potent. I've been getting 4 bags per bowl. I can see why this is such a great party tape.
The thermostat on the one I bought seemed a bit dodgy, sometimes failing to achieve temperature, so I took it into their repair center. Looks like it might cost me around $60 to tune up/repair, plus I bought a box of 6 easy vape bags for $60 that should last me about a year or more. I’m also getting their kit that has extra screens and o-rings. Is there anything else I should get while I’m there?

I feel like at this point I’ve got all my vaporizing bases covered with a DBV for whip, a solo, and an iolite and MFLB for portables. I might try to sell my Extreme Q since I have the DBV for whip and the Volcano for bags.

Craigslist has treated me really well for vaporizers so far.

6 bags for a year sounds pretty optimistic to me.
I usually change mine every month at a daily use.
What you could think about is purchasing the solid valve bags, cause it's pretty easy to put these into the easy valve system. And what you should never do is throw away the mouthpieces. Especially for parties having more than one mouthpiece is a very hygienic advantage.

That's a nice little collection you have going on..... I have DBV as well, she's my newest purchase... Got a Digital Volcano with solid and easy valve, and I have the Wispr as my portable..... Pretty much suits all of my needs.....

The vapor really is very lovely, especially if you make sure to keep your parts cleaned thoroughly and keep a new bag, you'll be golden..... Wonderful device, I waited probably 5 years before I splurged and bought one.... Got laid off and recieved one additional check after I had been let go....... Yeahhh I was feeling like that money's definitely disposable..... Money comes and money goes, the Volcano will be here with me and probably last forever.... I'm not one to sell something off like this, it's too sentimental to me.....

As it turns out, the used volcano i bought required several replacement parts, including the display, etc. luckily i live close enough to the repair center that i was able to take it there myself and pick it up. Repairs plus parts came to $160, plus i bought new screens and o rings. So for $220 I have a totally refubished volcano digit. Its a very efficient machine. I can get 3-4 bags worth of vapor using about the same amount of flowers it would take to fill one solo stem.
One question. I've read that there are benefits to vaping at temps as low as 350f. I was wondering what temps other volcano owners use. Precise temperature control seems to be one of the volcano's chief assets.

I've had my Volcano classic easy valve for 7 years and it still works great to this day. Every time I use it I find myself stoned sitting there on my couch with a half empty bag next to me, after only a couple bags. It's paid for itself for sure.

very intrigued by their new vaporizer, wish I had extra cash like I did then!

EDIT: I've not once even properly cleaned my chamber(i know), although I know If I did I would be getting stronger vapor. I also replace the bags as needed

I started off using 6.5-7 but these days I crank it up to 8 or even closer to 9. Probably a combination of personal tolerance and vapor density

I would still like to add a volcano to my arsenal one of these daze, but it's not a priority, so I am waiting for that little gem to drop myself. I could have had a dirty used one for $250, a few months back, but it didn't feel right. Hard to explain that one, but I like to trust the gut. For now I use my HA for bags, works well enough since we don't do bags a lot.

You already have a formidable arsenal, so you're in a good position to wait until a ridiculous deal comes along, as they do from time to time. I've had good luck on draigslist, though there's always a risk. Having the S&B service center so close made my decision a little easier and their customer service seems very good. It was in and out in a week, even though they'd warned me they were backed up. I would never have been able to make the necessary repairs myself, even if I could source the parts. Now that I've been to their service center, I feel confident going back if anything goes wrong.
Certainly bags aren't for everybody, but I think there's a time and a place for them. Whether that niche is "worth it" is an individual call. The beauty of the Volcano is its simplicity and efficiency. It does just one thing but it does it better than anything else.

I'd say, experiment with it. For example fill it up and put your tempknob between 4 and 4.5. Vape a few bags, enjoy. Next time (leave a few hours in between at least to notice the differences, taste as well as effects), put on the same bowl of ABV but this time on 9; vape a few bags and enjoy. Maybe next time you want the full scale rip and put it on 9 from the get go. 4.2 and 9 are my numbers. YMMV. I had this nice session a few days ago where I started off with ABV @ 9 (vaped it @ 4.2 the night before) and ended a bit later with fresh herb @ 4.2.

Yeah I'll be exploring other temps as well. Gonna need some ABV containers labelled with the last temp it was vaped at...

There is a thread here about different canabinoids and other stuff being released at different temperatures. Read up on there. As long as you stay below 235°C(? I believe ?) you won't combust. And the Volcano classic goes up to 226°C with 5° variance. So I'd say, get yourself ripped and document your findings. That's the way you 'll find your personal best vape temp.

Anyway, I can't compare to other highend vapes, I only have a VG, (and VG coil) wich is great to just get ripped on the go, or for a quick session. But the volcano is just great. For now I don't want to part with it.

Cheers

I say, yes, considering im smoking a .1 of ABV mixed with shake at 400F and as you can see by the dumb ass look on my face, im ripped

Had my digit for about two months now, its very nice. Conserves bud amazingly, evenly heats bud and extracts very efficiently. 2-3 min heat up time, just hit the power button, grind up some herb, load up the chamber (which is easy as hell, I often dont even clean it until im vaping another bowl and it takes about 5 seconds to sweep out with the brush) )im so high I forgot to even finish this sentence so many edits -_-) any how put it on the top of the cano let the air run for 5 seconds and throw some bags on that bihhhh. Whole process takes 5 minutes and I have 3 nice bags of vapor to sip on while I play COD black ops with my girl that will hold for a few hours at top potency (easy valve, solid valve is trash, only perk is custom bags and you can do this with the easy valve with some ninja shit). I've tried hash in the steel screen, again, very little oil, and me and 3 other people got annihilated on 4 bags. Now I cant speak for the solid valve, but the easy valve is the shit. I can go fill 3 bags (as strong as I want them, I use 370-375 for the first two runs for flavor, and 385-390 for there after to get a good amount out of it. Every one of my friends love it. My buddy has an Extreme Q, and it does not even compare, especially in efficiency, he agrees. You get what you pay for all in all. I bought a MFLB as my first vape and it thoroughly disappointed me, but I payed about $100 so what was I to expect? These things are quality, last forever, efficient, and hold GREAT resale value in comparison to other vapes, even ones enduring vigorous use.

If you don't have to keep things super sterile for health reasons, then it is possible to stretch the bags out for a long time. I have used a single bag steadily for 6 months in the past and it was fine. By the time I was done, it was nice and sticky for all sorts of other uses.

One question. I've read that there are benefits to vaping at temps as low as 350f. I was wondering what temps other volcano owners use. Precise temperature control seems to be one of the volcano's chief assets.

Low temps tend to extract more of the psychoactive properties. I generally start low if I want to be more functional, and crank up for deeper effects like pain relief, sleep, etc. Obviously strain comes into play here as well.

I used to spray 95% food grade alcohol and vape at maximum temperature to kill what's however inside.
The volcano is a great machine. I sincerely loved it and never regret any of that money I put into it. Now I'm more into the MV, glass and direct draw.. 6 months ago I was a strong bags supporter. My volcano is now taking the dust but he had a great life. I'm going to put it in the grow room so when we are going for caring and various setup we can chill out with my bud.

Edit : I had it for almost 5 years. I was letting it 24/7 most of the time, never fails

I may get back on using it with my buddy when the tough times are off
