I would prefer my home grown charas any time to those heavily pesticide sprayed ones from India or Morocco or wherever else... Just for purity reasons! :)

On a second note, my replacement Solo came back from PIU (thanks Randy! ;)) and it's a M1A3XXX unit with the known battery LED issue. They go down fast but it still has enough juice for many sessions. Other than that it's the best quality Solo I've come by since my M105 days... :D Everything in it is just better aligned, better fitted and better looking! It seems Arizer is paying a lot of attention to the manufacturing process and keeps improving little details every now and then and I guess that's one of the factors they are still selling loads of their little wonders despite all the new high-tech adversaries out at the moment! It is becoming a classic... The one that every new portable vape will eventually be asked to be compared with.
I have to admit my Solo doesn't get much use these days because of the Pod's arrival and it's super fun wide open airflow, but, it's always there and ready to rock in-house or anywhere else!
Still dreaming of Arizer working on something new down in their secret labs which could prove to be the Holy Grail of vaporizers... A mini Cloud to rule them all!
I wish!!! :p :ko: Soloed!

Doubt that it would affect the normal temp range. Maybe faster heat up and battery life, but why would it make the temp profile any different?
It heats faster and holds a charge longer.
Level 3 is plenty and I get more rips than usual!

Just snagged a supposedly latest model solo from Ebay for 140...debating if I need to buy that sweet 14mm PV GonG stem that I've been seeing recently to connect it to my waterpipe or bubbler, since i always use water filtration, but I was always under the impression that the stock tubes are 14mm fit by default, is it really that big or important of a difference?

stock stems work just fine in 14mm bongs/bubblers. the GonG is nice cause it is smaller which makes it easier to handle when using it with a bubbler/bong but it is not necessary to make it work. the stock stems will work... i do it all the time

I agree with mmenzie. I would also be careful about getting the high efficiency gong, it's not for everyone. Most on here seem to like it but I wish I had gotten the regular gong instead. The clouds just aren't as thick no matter how slow I pull.

did you get the regular PVHES with the 4 small holes, or the turbo with the big hole and screen? I found with the turbo, I get thinner vapor, but with the 4 hole shorty bowl, I was getting really thick clouds but with less work on the draw. Just curious if you are having thin vapor on the 4 hole stem. I only have turbo gongs and one 4 hole shorty straight stem.

I've owned the 4 hole and turbo (was a beta tester for the latter) pvhes, and agree with gosaints420, they weren't for me. Although the airflow is noticably improved, the vapour is also noticably thinner. Some may like that, some including myself do not. I may own another Solo soon, and i'll be buying the reg gong or perhaps none at all, the stem mates up in a unique way with a hydratube. I like to pull and milk pull and milk...very easy to do and the seal is fine. Not sure how easy it would be to remove the gong, but i guess it depens on how you use it (what kind of glass).

Got a "highdea" the other day. After using it for a few days with my 14mm PVHES Turbo I'd say it's a keeper (for myself anyways).

Basically, I wanted a way to have an easily adjustable bowl size and high enough microns to keep bud from getting pulled through.

After putting the default screen on the Turbo screen ledge, I put a low/medium density puffball of cotton above that, followed by a high micron screen on top.

While pushing the high micron screen down, the cotton provides cushioning so you can adjust the bowl height very accurately (I found the screen to slip n slide when trying to set it up without the cotton).

The high micron screen is high enough so none of the AVB gets into the cotton, so I don't have to clean it very often.

Adjusting the cotton density allows you to adjust your airflow, if you want.

Plus, you always have some cotton packed incase you have want to pack some bubble hash on the go.

TL;DR Screen/Cotton/Screen/Bud = Adjustable bowl with no pull through.

I got the 4 hole one and I get some decent hits from it but ultimately I prefer the regular stems. Thicker and more consistant for me.

Ya. Man I like to milk the solo using my hydratubes/hydraline made my own adaptor I just stick the glass stem which has a half inch rubber band around the top of the stem and it is then inserted in a 14 female to 18 male adaptor the fit is tight and doesn't move perfect, works great upside down right side up like I said perfect.
I wish they would make a stem with a chamber just a bit longer to put a bit more herb in it but I doubt they ever will.

You can dremel out the 4 hole section or order a Turbo stem and them put a screen at your desired bowl depth. The stems with the bore change look like they would hold a screen there really well.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I tried the milk trick with my solo stem - sticksstones actually mentioned it in the past as he heard it from someone else - its f*cking awesome! I filled a pot with enough milk to submerge my straight solo stem in (obviously full of vapor-honey), brought the milk to a boil and let it simmer for a few minutes until all the ickyness parted the glass and now was floating in the milk. The stem came out clean as a whistle - I added some *bosco* to the milk and enjoyed the best hot chocolate I've had in ages. And by best I mean it got me stoned!

guys, anyone try to continue to heat the milk until it dries? like slow heat towards the end, do you end up with thick oil/thick milk? can it be spread on flowers for vaping?

Also, i have read that the normal solo glass stem can be used with a 14mm bubbler, without need of further glass attachment, correct?

I don't think you'd want to vape milk residue, that would be pretty gross. It's an edible, just drink it.

The stock stems will connect to a 14mm joint but the stem is pretty long and it wobbles in the joint unless you wrap some rubber bands around the stems.

Consider the PVHES stems or Ed's wooden stems if you're looking for a perfect GonG (or wood) seal.

thanks, armerad. i didn't know Ed's wooden stem could mate with the 14mm straight up, that's great!

btw, how do you reclaim from the wood stem though, can it take an ISO soak or a milk boil?

Difficulty of reclaim is one issue with the wood. You basically have to scrape the oil/resin off the walls of the wood, meaning you can't really get a 100% clean for airports/etc.

One mod/tip/trick I saw was inserting a glass core/mouthpiece into the airpath, allowing you to take that out and ISO/Clean it. I don't have time to search it up at the moment, but it's in the thread somewhere.

I noticed I could get my abv MUCH darker using a water tool with the solo than without. Without, unless I really cranked the heat (which destroyed my lungs) I found the abv to not be very even. Using a water tool changed that.

Another benefit of using a water tool is that the nuggetry never touches the stainless steel heating piece, which keeps everything cleaner/etc.

You should never vaporize edible fats.

Cleaner and it reduces the taste of conduction vaporized herb ime.

True if inverted. I wanna get a glass piece just so I can use the solo inverted. With my HT, I find herb getting black/burnt nearly from flower falling out a little. Tastes horrible when it touches the SS.

Need to now find glass to use solo and cloud inverted.
