Looking for an idiot-proof vape...

Howdy all, first post. My apologies if this has already come up before in its own thread (point me to it if it has), but I couldn't find anything.

I've been using the MFLB for 18 months or so now. Quite happy with it for the most part.

However, the one aspect of it that I dislike is that whenever I take it to a party or gathering with people who have never used a vape (or worse, think they know what to do because they have some other vape), I always get people combusting and generally making a mess of things. Hardly unsurprising, as there is a learning curve to proper temp management with the MFLB.

So what I'd like to find is an idiot-proof portable vape that I can take "out" and not have to worry about explaining to friends with a couple beers/tokes in them (or with a couple beers/tokes in me).

In terms of personal opinion, one of the few things I get tired of with the MFLB is the fact that I always feel like I'm carrying a bag of parts with me every time I take it somewhere. Yeah yeah, I know. It's not that much stuff. And honestly, I really am happy with the MFLB for my own use, home or away. But I'm also tempted by the "all in one" vapes I see out there. So if one of those was a good "idiot proof" choice, I'd probably think it was cool.

The Pax looks like s strong choice and is well reviewed, but $250 puts a hurt on the old wallet. The Iolite Wispr seems to have a lot of fans, is a bit cheaper, and would be something different (butane) than I have now. But durability and malfunctions seem to be issues. The puffit looks kind of cool and seems pretty simple. But battery life sounds terrible. The original iolites are out there for cheap prices, but I decided against them when buying my first vape, so I'm unlikely to be excited about them this time around.

Just looking for something that I can hand to idiot friends and have them work it successfully. If I have to spend $200+ to do that, then I guess that's what I have to do. But I figured I'd ask here in case there was something I was overlooking.

The Arizer Solo is by far the best party vape of the portables in my opinion. I have converted 4 people to vaporists based on they're using my solo. Literally every person I have let use it has asked me how much it cost, where did I get it, and can they get one.

The solo is two parts, so not all in one. But it is under $200 at $160, and is very much so idiot proof, just tell 'em to hit it. The only problem I have seen people have with it was people saying the drag was hard, but if this ends up being a problem there are after market stems that improve the situation for like $25.

Thanks for the opinions thus far everyone.

I don't know all that much about the davinci or the solo. I should do a little reading. The Solo's $160 is a nice price range, that's for sure. The Davinci seems to be around $200 unless there's a secret code for it as well.

IMO the advantage of the Da Vinci over the Solo lies in its one-piece design (no glass to break) so it works well in environments that could be detrimental to fragile glass.

If that's not a concern, then I'd go with the Solo for sure.

since the stock glass stems on the solo are somewhat fragile, you can buy one of Ed's wooden stems for when you take your solo to a party. the only other drawback might be the battery life. but you should be able to get more than 10 bowls out of a single charge.

I've learned randos and vapes don't mix well, especially with the MLFB. Worst thing is, you try to be polite and tell people to pull slow out of consideration of not wasting herb and for them actually getting a hit and you get the response "I've hit bowls before man, jesus you think I'm stupid? (in a super passive-aggressive voice)" and then what 15 minutes later you're ripped and the same self-named-combustion-experts are complaining that they aren't medicated.... Who's to blame for elitists moving into the ganja circles? Is it hipsters?

Aye then you watch them hit it and you can see the herb swirling like a cyclone in the chamber

I feel your pain. My New Years Resolution is just to not have so many friends who are idiots.
But evolution is just not fast enough to weed out all the idiots who infest our world,so I'm thinking maybe a sniper rifle would speed up the whole process?

Too much radical, aren't you? :D A genius could say this and kill everyone. It's a miracle that we still have intelligence rooted in our DNA considering how much we have already messed up our genome. And to be on topic, I vote for the Solo too, possibly with the wooden stem considering it will be used where alcohol is present. Other vape not mentioned here is Cera, a lot of people are anticipating tht vape, it's not out yet, but seems soon.

I hear and agree with your frustration, but you're going off topic- this isn't a rant thread. And some of your terms require an urban dictionary- randos? Someone fitting an 'elitist' definition isn't allowed to use mj? Everyone doesn't fit neatly into a 'personality box'.

Some of your friends, and a lot of people who think vaping is as easy as smoking, may be idiots, but in general it's more ignorance than stupidity, and a lot of people just aren't interested in taking the time to learn how to vape properly when smoking is so simple. There has to be some kind of motivation, and for many it's just not there.

There are very few vapes that don't have some degree of learning curve, and no portable can be hit hard, as some will surely do, and still maintain vaping temp. The best vapes for newbies/groups continue to be bag fillers, since you can't screw up when sucking vapor from a bag. The Cloud is, by far, the best 'smoker converter' with no learning curve, but you don't want it handled by a bunch of newbie/impaired people. If you want something you can just pull out of your pocket, hand it over, and have it be positively received with no instruction (and without screwing it up), the technology just isn't there yet. You'll have to compromise somewhere.

I agree with the bag being the most idiot proof system. So nice to know exactly how much vapor you are inhaling and the flavor is great. That is the beauty of the Vapor Lung. Plus it can be made to work with any vaporizer and the price is right. Just make up several for a party and have less worries about your vaporizer getting messed up. I bet the VL would work great with the Cloud. You could probably keep 5 bags continuously filled and rotated through the party.

The Amazing Vapor Lung!!!

I suggest you get an inhalater, it seems the best idiot proof vape that is portable and with no breaking parts and difficult to combust.

If you want to go cheap i would get a VG coil, it still is difficult to use at first but if the idiot combusts, then all you have to do when you get home is boil it and the taste is as good as new.

The lungs are a great option as well, although i don't know if it is pratical considering you have an mflb.

A bag filler would definitely be a pretty easy vape for new people to enjoy. If your looking for something a little more portable I will give another vote for the Arizer solo.

I would say, have you looked at the Pax? I have converted many smokers to Pax lovers :-)

I realize that there is some level of learning required for any portable vape. But I think most would agree that the MFLB is on the higher end of the difficulty spectrum for a random person to use.

I see the advantages to bags, but that's not really what I'm looking to have to deal with in this instance I don't think. A unit like the pax or the solo is going to be a much better compromise of ease/portability/etc for me.

FWIW, I'm leaning towards the Solo. The price is right and the reviews are all pretty positive, even for beginner users. I love the "single unit" aspect of the Pax, but I'm having a hard time justifying the extra $90-100.

Again, thanks to all for the suggestions so far. I appreciate it. Good community here at FC.

Also, keep in mind the Pax requires much more maintenance than the Solo. My reccomendation for you would be the Solo or Inhalater. They are both portable, easy to load, and very easy to use.

Solo is better than the dv but the glass stems on the solo can be broken easier... Davinci if ur lookin for full idiot proof

I can totally see that. But the wood stems on the Solo look like a decent solution to that. Assuming they ever return to being in stock anywhere. Or perhaps I'll just try to make one myself. Be a good shop project.
I was in the Ed's thread early and i read that the last batch of solo stems for a while, 120 or so if i remember correctly, would be available in about a week or two. I suggest you get one, can't go wrong.
