Discontinued Thermovape Cera (Original thread, closed because of chaos)

If there is a momentary switch on the bottom, that means to activate the cera one would user the pinky? Or two hands? It seems like the best place for a momentary switch would be close to the thumb. Just wondering how easy it's going to be to press the switch for e-liquid vapors, who probably take a lot more hits than the MJ users.

Maybe the grip will be less like standard ecigs, holding the cera by the base with fingers, allowing one of the fingers to press the switch? It's hard to tell what the experience will be like until actually using one.

Ugh, not exactly the update I was hoping for, well it is what it is. I just hope the people who ordered are informed what the changes/differences might be. I liked the idea of standing it on the button to load it so a dome button kinda kills that. No big deal if we get the intended flat one once their available.

If people could stand it on its end like that they'd just be knocking it over all the time and breaking stuff.

You know one night late I was watching Noah trying to use Cera as a bat to get a standup double out of the coffee cup and it suddenly occurred to me what we need for him is a short chain for Cera like the pens at the bank?

You know, make him bend over near the desk to get a hit so he doesn't end up taking liberties? Might be worth a try......

Wait they are replacing the bottom switch? Like the one that was supposed to be illuminated? Or the top switch closer to the MP?

Because with the normal bottom switch it should stand straight up right? It was flat, when it was pressed in it looked like it went in, not out.

So the bottom SS or TI switch is dome? Or the top switch near the MP is the dome?

Super confused, sorry!

The change is the switch in the end cap. The slide switch might not even survive as a switch but might be replaced by some sort of lock out pin instead (I saw 3 different versions of that idea today).

The end cap switches are commercial products, SS (I think) externally, plastic body, gold plated contacts. Very conventional but about an inch in diameter. The bezel ring glued into the end of the tube is Ti or SS depending but the body of the switch is SS or chrome brass most likely where the threads are. For sure it's not Ti.

The dome aspect is modest, I'd say it sticks up less than 1/8 inch in the center, it's just not flat like the latching one is.

Sorry for the confusion.

Gotcha, hmm, so is there still the illuminated option then?

EDIT: question, what else is SS and/or Ti other than the core?

Not sure about the lighted switch, the correct version of that wasn't there either. That's a topic for later I guess since it was known to be delayed we didn't really get into it. AFAIK it's happening still, I just haven't seen the parts or one working.

Aside from the threaded ring and end cap the switch plate (the part the cart screws into) is SS or Ti. The idea is to not have corrosion freeze the cap on or the cart in I guess?

Ok let's get this right. The ottoman switch is going to be replaced with a round type on off switch? And the safety switch will not be on the actual model and we will have to toggle the cera via the bottom switch? That isn't very practical is is for toggling on and off while holding this vape wouldn't you suppos? Part of the selling features I liked about the Cera was the on off safety switch which I believe would be the easiest way to control the power on the cera IMO using your pinky of finger to continuously to shut it off and on, to me this will be uncomfortable and not a practical place for a toggle on/off switch, a standard on/off switch yes but I believe the extra toggle switch to control power was a major asset and strong point of control for me, if people don't like it that way remove it dont change the cera from the original concept especially since this is the model and set up which has been sold to me and advertised to me for on this now even on the website the picture and description shows a working on/ off toggle safety switch which I want and need.
Now of said something about this change might effect the Cera LL why?
I suppose this other switch will effect my light switch then? Or not.
I really don't believe removing this toggle is a good idea make it a option for the consumer , give them what they want and need if it is a remvale pin make it that a removable on/off safety switch which you can utilize or remove and choose the bottom switch I for one hate the idea of loosing the switch I think it's a great feature and it was a selling point for me by the way and I feel like the product I ought is becoming a totally different vaporizer then what I was shown on the web and what I paid for and was sold. Battery change, switch change x2, safety switch gone?,
Man this has really bumbled me out you know.
It's like getting a brochure with all the pics and options of a car and then weeks before you get your car that's in the brochure after choosing all your options. The dealer calls you just before release and says by the way we changed this and that removed this even though we sold this aspect of the car to you for months we decided not to make this car like we said we would but you'll like it anyway even though we haven't told you directly. This is not a prototype it's a product being sold as is with certain features s to the public how can you just change something I paid for allready wit out consulting me after all it was sold to me with a 2 switches. 2900 mah 18650 batts, and lighted switches and such but now I'm being sold a cera with no safety switch, different on/ off switch of different design, and batteries that weren't designed or tested for this vaporizer so is this really the same vape anymore.
I'm not that difficult but a am a consumer on a budget and want the actual produc I was sold which I allready paid for and actually picked out the style and options I liked and wanted now its becoming different again.
Better change the website then picture doesn't resemble the Cera I'm getting by the sounds of it, isn't that bad advertising or is it deceptive or is it right? I don't know what t think quality not a issue communication an issue.
Man I'm so bumbled out I don't know what to think or do for that matter.
I'm so confused and frustrated with what is being sold to me now and what it is changing into its not the Cera I see in the picture on there site just read the desction of the cera and what has allready changed from the. Original one which was sold to us over the net.

Right so they should change the design because of clumsy people? If it doesn't stand up what's gonna stop it from rolling off anything that's not totally flat? I would be more concerned about this than accidentally knocking it over while standing.

I'm sorry you find this so frustrating, unfortunately it's about 'par for the course'. Check out other 'pre order' products, they are almost always late and different than expected (for instance consider the Hercules, 1701 cart, Iris (finally shipped) and others from D9 right now?).

Perhaps the best idea would be to take advantage of the refund option and wait until Cera is 'off the shelf' and stable? You won't have the use of it in the interim but the anxiety and frustration won't be there?

Best of luck which ever way you decide to go.

exactly. not to mention the materials we are dealing with here. seems pretty normal to me for this industry.

*EDIT* this coming from a guy who didnt preorder... but i might as well have!

Actually I kinda see it as going pretty darn well. Look at the number of sole source parts and hard to source materials they're dealing with. Just limiting it to 'made in USA stuff' is a huge invitation for Mr. Murphy to dump all over your parade.

It could very easily be far far worse.

I guess I've got several unfair advantages here. I know these guys, I know they're sincere and honest (at least as far as I can tell) and I've had the pleasure of actually using the Cera so I know it's well worth the hassles we're seeing now. I really think a month or so from now it will be an entirely different game. Guys will be bubbling over with joy......or mounting armed assaults on the TV shop, depending.

You know, while reading the thread, trying very hard to not let all the aggravation vibes get to me, and respecting pakalolo's request to NOT carry on, and in light of OF's latest tidbits, I was thinking about how I would design the switches on the Cera, and what would work best for me. (How's that for an overly medicated compound sentence?)

Now I'm not thinking about how hard my desires might be to manufacture, just what would work the best. To my mind, irrespective of whether we're talking about herb or oil or juice, I want the safety switch to be on the bottom, and the "working" switch to be on the top. The bottom safety switch should be a latching on-off switch, NOT a momentary switch, and should be very difficult to accidentally switch on, and relatively easy to deliberately switch on. I'd pay for an illuminated version. The top "working" switch should be usable as both a momentary and a latching on-off switch.

Everyone (herb, oil, or juice) would use the bottom (safety) switch to protect themselves when they're not using the Cera. For travel, pocket, whatever. Push the bottom switch in, the top switch becomes active; leave the bottom switch out (in the off position), no power to the core regardless of the top switch position.

The original design for the "working" switch was like an old fashioned light bulb switch. A push-push switch with the "buttons" extending through the tube a tiny bit. If the design of this switch were such that it was pretty easy to slide the switch back and forth, while at the same time it wasn't loose and wouldn't slide back and forth without a push, it would serve both the momentary users (oil, juice), and the on-without-holding users (herb), perfectly.

I can't see it the other way around. It's much easier to work a top switch while vaping, where your fingers already are, and much more difficult to work a bottom switch, where your fingers aren't. I've never tried a Cera, so I have no idea if the top push-push switch is easy to slide back and forth, but if it is, then it will work as well or better than a momentary switch (which you have to hold down).

Seems to me this is pretty much what TET originally designed, though I don't know how easy/hard it is to work the push-push switch (OF?).

So I'm gonna continue to wait, until all the parts in all their glory have arrived, and things have settled in at TET, before I order. Since TET will replace any "temporary" parts that come with the pre-order Cera's, including swapping out your used batteries, and giving you a new switch, I don't think there's much down side for those of you who have pre-ordered. You'll get to play and enjoy long before I will...

this reminds me to learn to do bubble runs for use in the LL cart

A labor of love if there ever was one. We get spoiled around here, the stuff in the dispensaries is so good (at least at the good dispensaries), tested safe and all, and so reasonably priced and with such a variety to pick from.

Then again, cost of living can drive a guy nuts in no time at all.

yeah ive spent a good amount of time over there the last 10 years. im def jealous of all the selection and wonderful options some get.

i suppose i will just have to be a criminal until its legal here... even though my doctor knows i use cannabis daily and encourages me to continue to do so. last time i went in my doc asked "did you hear about Washington and Colorado?" and gave me a fist bump.

I agree i thought the original setup was pretty much perfect.

Absolutely right, I never thought of that! It'll fall off and then break stuff.

They should make it square so it doesn't roll, with rounded ends so you can't stand it up.
