Dry herbs in "pen style" vape. anyone try the Persei alternatives?

Hello all,
wasn't sure where to place this post but i think this is the right place.... i have an EGO-C and have been doing alot of reading on "pen style" vapes these past few days. now i know most people use them as "oil rigs" and most likely i will be using mine for that as well but while reading on how i can mod my EGO to use Omicron carts (i found what i need i believe) i came acroos these other companies with "pens" that say they not only do oil, but with their "attachments" can do dry herbs as well. after being on these forums for quite awhile now i was under the impression that the only "pen" that could do dry herbs was the Persei and you had to get their attachments (first the bender and now the hercules and soon the universal). no offense to a great product like the Persei but after buying the Persei (which is quite pricey on its own) a user has to spend more big $$$ on those attachments. i am sure they are awesome and well worth the money but i am seeing alternatives claim they can do dry herbs as well and without the hefty price tag. on top of that these attachments are already threaded with the 510 style so my EGO could use them.

i am very hesitant to be the first to "try" something so i was hoping someone in this massive community had tried one of these alternatives and just didn't post about them (i did do a search). here are the alternatives i found:

http://tristickvape.com/shop/tristick-dry-herbs-attachment-2/

and

http://www.gentlemansvapes.com/collections/cartridges/products/blank-dry-herb-cartridge
(i did read the entire 22 page thread on Gentleman's here but it was more about the batteries than the dry herb carts themselves)

if anyone could enlighten me a bit to these products (if you have used them) or any other similar products i would be greatly appreciative. ***please note*** i am NOT knocking the Persei in anyway and if i could afford it and the attachments needed i would not be asking these questions

Thanks

I think there is a thread for the gentlemans and it wasn't very positive.... i think that you should stick to the alternatives here at the forum.. even then you should be careful like what happened with the atmos raw.

thanks man but i did state that i did read the whole 22 page thread on Gentleman's but that thread talked mostly about the pens and the batteries not the attachments. what was mentioned in there about carts were about the "medicated" pre filled ones but i am in a non-mmj state so i could not get those anyways.

what i would like to know is there "pen style" vapes that do dry herbs other than the Persei. i included two links one being Gentleman's and the other a tristick. both companies offer a dry herb cart that will fit "510" threaded batteries like my EGO-C but i cannot find any real review like info on the attachments themselves

Okay, missed that part, sorry.

I think the ones that exist are pretty much similar to the RAW and not worth giving it a go, but i honestly don't know where i read it. Somewhere here at FC.

Well there is the inhalater... but that's more of a cigar size than a pen size. And I'm pretty sure you knew about that one already...

Skyda makes a herb pen vape; but like everything skyda; you don't want it.

really i would be interested in a whole pen only if it was something special and did not have 510 threading. what i really am curious about is these dry herbal attachments or cartridges (depending on the MFG) like the ones i listed in my OP (if you click the links they take you to the attachment being sold) and not really the pen itself. i was curious if anyone from this massive community heard of or tried them. i really don't want to be a first tester but it seems like it may be the only way.

i only mentioned the "pens" themselves cause from reading in this forum the Persei claims to be the only "pen" or "pen like" device can do dry herbs and oils. but the Persei is WAY outa of my budget!!! so i was looking for a more budget friendly alternative and one that possibly was 510 threaded and i came across the links in my OP. now if delta9 made their dry herb attachment for the omicron as well instead of just their biggest priced item (cause the necessary attachments are also pretty pricey) the Persei maybe i wouldn't be searching for an alternative. i own a EGO-C with 510 threading so it would make more sense to me to find a dry herb attachment for it

Has anyone tried that Tri-stick with herbs??? It looks too good to be true.

If it does what it claims to then I'm sold, the one thing my SSV lacks is portability and the feeling of a spliff between your fingers.

While the oil thing does appeal to me, sadly I will not be able to get hold of hash oil where I live (more chance of the Pope sh*tting in my hand tbh). But a pen style you can really vape herbs in will have me shouting "Take my money PLEASE!!!"

the Tristick is one of the links in my OP and i was thinking the same thing.... this is too good to be true... does it really work?? if it does i would either buy the whole pen or just the dry herb attachments as it would fit the EGO-C i already have. although their battery will do up to 4.8 and mine will only do 4.1. i really would love to hear if anyone ever used it and how it works. i can't even find any reviews or users when i search the interwebs

as for the part where you say you can't get oil. i was saying the same thing only a couple of weeks ago till everyone said to look at youtube and make it yourself. after watching so many videos my eyes bled, i found out just about anyone that has common sense to be safe and the time can make their own either BHO or QWISO. my brother and law and i are making QWISO cause we both felt safer working with ISO over butane. i ordered some thread adapters and omicron cartridges to mod our EGO's to use the QWISO. search youtube for BHO or QWISO and maybe you will change your mind about oils too

First off, Persei isn't the only unit doing this successfully. TV's T1 has been doing herbs (IMO extremely well) for a year or so now, long before Bender (the first herb cart from D9).

The issue is power. If you want to 'do it right' you're going to need lots of it. TV T1 and Bender run 30 Watts, many times what e-cig pens can deliver. Even TV Evolution, made to run on lower power, is 20 Watts, still way past what Ego can deal with.

This reduces you to the few Watts available from e-cig carts.....with the poor results they provide.

The upcoming Hercules cart may change this, but I suspect the LV version will still demand more current than e-cig pens can deliver. Didn't G say it's not going to work with Omicron, is 'Persei only'? Omicron is more powerful than e-cig pens by a fair bit and if it can't tote the load I see no chance for the smaller players.

Tristick looks pretty garbage:
(skip to 3:15 for dry herb)

Seems like it's pretty much the same as any brand of rebuildable e-cig atty. It's looks like the worst type of conduction vaporization, and I can almost guarantee it'll combust.

edit: just realized this was a bump. Weird and sorry.

thanks for the video King.... i did not find this video when i looked for it. i agree, even though she didn't show it, i am betting that will combust as well. in fact..... after seeing this video, i would feel safer with an Atmos Raw before this one. there is no protection between the coil and the flowers... it has to combust. the Atmos Raw at least says you can get a glass screen (only from the manufaturer it seems... resellers do not have this glass screen in my findings) that you put over the coil and i could see how that would HELP to try and stop combustion.

thanks again King... after seeing this video i now have another to cross off the list. what do you think of this one i found:

http://www.atmosthermo.com/product/dry-herb

it is made by Atmos but for 510 threaded devices so you DON'T have to buy a new Atmos pen if you have a 510 threaded battery

Given Atmos track record, I'm not really hopeful.

Make of this what you will, it is an Amazon review after all:
Amazon Reviewer said:
placed on Atmos Optimus 510...
plastic part melted & i sucked down a bunch of burnt plastic smoke...
DO NOT PURCHASE -
i had do a few hours of re-engineering to make this safe & functional...

I sent a re-engineered version to ATMOS with melted product - a bill for R&D services & demanded manufacturing change due to safety concerns ...

So true. Bummer is trusting guys with little money to spare keep getting sucked into wasting their money on this junk. Some will pony up again (and again....), unfortunately others will simply revert to blazing.....

It really does hurt the vaporization industry honestly. I know plenty of people who "vapor doesn't work for". Of course they have all used cheap shitty vapes and not something quality. Now they are convinced it is a waste of money. Its too bad, but in the end it is their loss not mine.

So spot on...for what it is. I think it goes past the 'yeah, that shit, I tried that once...' level and that negative attitude can infect the next guy and deny him the incentive to even explore vaping in realistic cases. We are sheep. We need to accept that sometimes actions impact folks that aren't even involved. I want positive vaping experience to spread and grow because with it comes better health for our fellows.

To me this can make a 'pretty good' into a bad idea over all.

Anybody know anything about BudVape? I'm hoping to make a purchase, but I can't find any reviews for their products.

seems like they are just re-branding lots of other pens out there (atmos raw, 710, Gpen, cloud, etc)

Yeah, definitely. BudVape even compares their products to others. Looking to see if anyone's used them though. They have good prices, but I don't want to waste my money if it's garbage...
