Check this thread. A dude replaced the battery and could not get his pax to work. Saving you trouble
He probably said you have to put it on the charger to "reset" it before it will turn on... I put a better battery in my Pax and it works great but if Ploom open and inspect it they will see it's been changed.

My Pax all of a sudden will not get hot.

Im aware of the mouthpiece heating issue as I've been dealing with that since day 1, but now, even when the light is pink, it wont get hot. Stays completely cold.

Is there a way to fix this, or am I dealing with a warranty issue?

It's working, pictures coming, gotta use high drain 18650 cells. I used batt contacts out of a AA battery box spring on a plate on left is spring and on right it's flat plate... I snipped them in two, positive is plate. Negative is spring... Shortened the spring and glued them to end caps inside. That made a very strong holder, tight fit, strong contacts, wide contact area. Look at the main wires, and I know to get anywhere past the hour mark on full tilt these batts only deliver 2amps safely, 2.5 is where the protector cuts out. Oops no protector, but guess what... The original batt has no protector bms(battery management system) it cuts out when volts low, or high or current pull is in excess of its output driver fets..(field effect transistors). The pax heater coil is some where in the1.4-1.8ohm range I did a quick multimeter prod to temp and heater terminals. Really must des older to get true reliable reading so its a guess. But3.7/1.4=2.642amps! So still in the spring loaded battery holder range, any more than 3.5amps and it would be pushy. Well now pax has been on high, in party mode for over45mins... Shake... What do u kno... It's green! Now pax replaces ciggies replace the batt drop em on charge two by two... The guy who tried got only 30 mins on his batt.. Oh his would have showed orange fast I'm guessing... Bad contact. Ps most of your automobile connectors are small and pass more power 12v*2amp=24watt or stereo system stock, 12*7.5amp=90watt, not rms tho. They have blade fuses too, very small contact line from the spade female connectors they plug into. Fuse is on plus supply too, all current flow thro it then to load... See. He just had a loose wire, when pax warmed up there was no spring to take the slack. It was not easy but I got the spring to fit and had to shorten it lots to boot. The battery is soo tight to fit it might as well be soldered. 52mins later on high still green. There's more juice in this cell.. Even tho it was abused in the provari e cig. I'll be back to edit, add final times, looking like over the hour still green.. We shall see. It's been over the hour by 8 mins it just went orange two shakes ago, 2seconds for none Aussie. That oven is done now reloading. It went 1 hr 55 mins on high with new battery I used minus its bms.

Edit new findings... When one disconnects the battery only the charger will reset the low condition. So if pax looses juice it will shut off, hard. Only the charger wakes it.... Or 9volt on the charge pins for long enough to lite up the x. So I made a 9volt battery connector to charge pin connector adapter, add a 9v battery and then keep that with the base plate. It wakes up upon insertion. So all who wants more autonomy... It's another launch box deal, carry spare power baseplate and that 9v batt... I'm looking into the latest 18650 cell on the market. Soon I'll have enough bms units to make a nice pack up for a lantern...

This party mode is so good. No more standby. And waiting for a puff. Now I charged two cells at once, they are ready.. Time to brown the mind.. Happy paxing fellas

Only if you can solder and use a multimeter, check:
Look at the solder connections, that foil Pcb is actually near if not underrated for current; load stress will exist at coil connection (heater element) or solder point to Pcb. I'd suspect the solder point more considering the temp changes and how close they are to the oven base too... The element would be crimped type connection... That should be ok but if solder is not dry/cracked/not shiny, then smell for burnt electrics if not that element has gone open circuit maybe.. For most it's a warranty job.. Sad day. Poor paxie

Happy happy new year to all. Just wanted to say the new black pax has arrived directly from Ploom. The polish doesnt seem to be different then me purple one though. Also, I didnt receive any lube in my shipment, but I did receive the lube in an envelope for my purple one. Ordered on Tuesday got it today, not too shabby. 2 Pax is better then 1 :)

Pax has emailed me today saying my brand new pax will be arriving at my door any day. I mailed mine out from the east coast on the 26th, Jan 2nd it shipped. Not bad. I am amazed they are sending me a new one, I almost feel guilty :D They have great customer service, I was thinking of selling my pax while it's brand new, but after how good they were It'd probably be stupid to get rid of, knowing I'll always have a working pax under warranty. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future if they do a redesign. (If they'll exchange broken old models for newer models)

Lol I have the blue and although I really like it I wished I had ordered the black I just like the stealthiness of the black more. My brother has a vinyl plotting machine and as soon as we figure out the exact dimension of the pax we're gonna plot some vinyl pax skins out.

share the wealth if you do, I already mentioned I have OCD and will cry if I get so much as a scratch on my pax haha- I like the blue I think it looks a lot less suspicious than black or purp for some reason  .

Heres my kit when I go out http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-TBC-302-FFP-Compact/dp/B005HNF01O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1357251676&sr=8-3&keywords=case logic This is what I use for my Pax case, It fits my pax snuggly, no up or down play, fits a lot of stuff with it http://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Titanium-Crusher®-SCT-2-CCP/dp/B007ILNNR6/ref=sr_1_26?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1357251787&sr=1-26 http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Plastic-Match-Holder/dp/B003Z28MQE/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1357251836&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=coleman match case These are awesome, they sell them at walmart for a dollar, I have always sworn by these over the years, if you look around amazon you can get olive green, and they have nice aluminum ones too if you wana look like a boss. http://www.amazon.com/Exotac-MatchC..._2?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1357251922&sr=1-2 http://www.amazon.com/Tapered-Heavy-Bamboo-Skewers-CMT2/dp/B0019V101M/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1357251956&sr=8-13&keywords=fancy toothpicks these are the best pokers in the world, and especially good for the pax, the fat end is great for the oven. My friend gave me a bag of 500 once apon a time, he does catering, I cant live with out them! If you like to smoke its great for glass pokers too. I could care less when i loose one, if they get dull i cut them with a razor, and im handy with a dremel tool- In less than 5 seconds i can put a sweet little scoop on the end of these for the oven. My kit!
Edit: Sorry for the double post, just realized I did this again, merge if you must :D oh forgot these toohttp://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Titanium-Crusher%C2%AE-SCT-2-CCP/dp/B007ILI40M/ref=sr_1_22?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1357252289&sr=1-22

Well I really wanna be able to press little pre made kief/loose leaf "cakes and throw like 4 to 5 premade "cakes" into a tictac case. That's five or so oven ready to just be dropped in.

You could probably machine one of these, even with a drill press. Trace the oven screen on a solid peice of aluminum. Find a drill the same width, drill two holes next to each other, remove any excess material in between. Even if you gotta use a piece of wood to tamp it down with, the results are the same. If your good at treading stuff it wouldnt be hard at all to thread

Sup people,
I am debating getting a pax vs air q extreme, I am leaning towards pax through a personal reference. I tried looking through some of the pages but only heard stuff about the ganja goodness. Has anyone had any experience mixing chamomile, damiana, or any other aromatherapy herb with the green, or even just by itself? I have only vaped a friends volcano and am trying the pax for the first time in a week before I buy it. But yea, any info on other herbs? Much love.

The only other botanical I have vaped with the Pax is catnip; I used it on low and got the desired effects of muscle relaxation out of it - I usually make catnip tea, and vaporizing definitely was stronger than the tea. I was going to try sassafras, but the boiling points of the actives in it are mostly above the temp capability of the Pax, so I figured why bother. There is an ethnobotanical thread here if you want to check it out, it's pretty interesting :peace:

New to the forum, just got Pax last night. After first session I was already in love with the device. I just have a few beginner questions which have probably been answered in this forum, but seeing as its 260 pages of posts I figured I'd just ask.

1. How should I charge my Pax? Do I let it die all the way, or just whenever I want? Can I leave it on the charger (over charge) and not ruin batt life?
2. Do I need to stir the bud after a few hits?
3. Is having it in standby mode wasting some of my bud?
4. Does your temp button also not have a satisfying click? Mine works, but I'm paranoid after reading people had issues with it that mine could stop working soon.
5. Full oven or half oven?

Any other tips or advice you guys have would be much appreciated! I haven't done much research, kind of a insta-buy but it was well worth it. Thanks guys.

My best advice is KEEP IT CLEAN!!! And don't put it right on the charger while it's still warm. You'll probably wanna let the battery die so you can condition it properly. As far as stirring and oven fullness go it's kinda a personal preference thing. My mouthpiece has a satisfying click but your and my opinions of satisfying may differ. Congrats on your pax purchase, I'm sure you'll be a happy customer!

Thanks for the advice, however I was referring to the temperate button not the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has a very satisfying click, but the temp button makes no noise or click what so ever.

ANTA5,
Start with our Vaporpedia page to answer most of the common questions, Anta5. It's linked in my sig.

Edit: my temp button does not make a noise at all.

Oh I see now. No my temp button makes zero noise as well.

EDIT: and yes the vaporpedia page is your best bet for all FAQs.

3. Is having it in standby mode wasting some of my bud?

Standby mode is 150°C or 302°F. This is hot enough to vapourize the terpenoids that carry most of the flavour, but little if any of the psychoactive and therapeutic components. It's really a non-issue in terms of bud waste because it only stays in standby for three minutes and then it shuts down.

Having said that, you should be aware that except for the time it takes to reach vapourizing temperature (not green light temperature) when you turn it on, the Pax is always wasting your bud unless you're hitting it. It is a conduction vapourizer with a large contact area, and it is always heating the load. It's not easily visible, but f you use a strong light you can see that vapour is always flowing from the mouthpiece.

By the way, resist the temptation to cap that flow with your thumb or something. That will only make the vapour back up and some of it will condense inside in places you don't really want it.

Still infatuated with my gorgeous little Pax!!

Say, I've seen some conflicting info on cleaning the oven door. Is it ok to soak it in iso for a bit to clean it? I know it's ok to soak the mouthpiece, but not sure about the door...
