Discontinued The Inhalater INH004 Phytotherapeutic Rechargeable Portable Vaporizer

I've been on vacation the last 1.5 weeks and during that time a buddy and I have put all my various vaporizers through some heavy stress testing. It has been a damn good holiday :D

I am now confident saying that the INH is my favorite vape of all the ones I've tried so far. Took going back to some others to confirm how much I like the INH. Thought I'd list my reasons here. I will look at 4 things: Taste; Vaporization thoroughness; Ease of Hit; and Design.

We tried out the INH004, the Herbalaire, the Cloud and the Volcano. We had some "Blue Russian" that was simply ridiculous which benefited all the vapes equally but we mixed things up to make sure it wasn't just one strain being really good for one vape. We almost always used a waterpipe, except for the occasional dry hit to gauge raw taste.

On Taste, it was really close. My buddy actually said the Cloud was slightly tastier to him. I disagreed. The cloud's metal ELB leaves a very very slight metallic aftertaste for me. HA was good but the slight Teflon taste is detectable compared to the INH/Cloud. PlanetVape is coming out with a glass replacement part soon and I plan and re-comparing then. The volcano wasn't even in the running in this category in both our opinions. I think the INH wins this category.

On "Vaporization Thoroughness" I think the INH and Herbalaire are tied. Several pages back I had some issues with sub-optimal vaporization with the INH but later determined the cause to be overly moist herbs. Properly dried stuff vaporized perfectly in the INH up to a dark brown at MAX temp (honestly I like to vape at MAX on the INH alot). HA is awesome for the no-grind (i.e., just cram a nug in there, it'll vape it very well). INH I prefer because it has a screen opposite the airflow, which means it's self-filtering to some extent. I get less fine particulate out of INH than the other vapes. The cloud is actually pretty close on this category, but sometimes requires stirring the ELB, and the next category affected this one.....

On "Ease of Hit" the INH is in a class of its own. The HerbalAire and Cloud definitely both hit nicely as well, but once you are past the best 3-4 hits, they tend to require longer draws to create dense vapor. I think that's because they are convection-only. Between hits the herb cools slightly, and the long hits bring the temperature back up. The cloud was the worst for me in this regard. When trying to "ABV-Cache" a capsule ("ELB") on the cloud, I quickly tire my lungs out. After 2 back-to-back ELB's I am literally exhausted and need 20-30 mins to recover. This limits my intake. That's why I also knocked the cloud down in "vape thoroughness" as well. It's harder to get there IMO even though it's capable of matching the INH if you work at it.

With the INH, my waterpipes milk up almost instantly and it performs like that until the capsule is "cached". The vapor just takes on a lighter slightly bluish color as it exhausts the supply. Even though technically the draw resistance itself is higher in the INH, it produces vapor with less effort so to me it is easier to keep hitting it consecutively for longer periods of time than the other vapes. HA was probably the closest 2nd.

This surprised me, but I consistently found the Volcano bags to be harsher than any of my other vapes. Yes I used water filtration. I now am almost certain it's because the volcano blasts so much airflow through the herb that it's also dislodging far more fine-particles. Water filtration will only help so much with those super fine particles. I found myself sneezing a bit when I started using the volcano. This was after using other vapes with no issues. Weird. It's definitely been a while since I used the volcano this seriously but it wasn't as nice as I recall.

Now finally "Design". A mix of "fit and finish" as well as manufacturing quality. Visually, I prefer the Cloud. I also prefer the Cloud's all glass air path over the other vapes. But I don't like how it gets so warm to handle. Also the cloud has terrible serviceability: if the integral glass stem breaks, the unit is irreparable according to the manufacturer. I only learned this AFTER buying it but it makes me fear using my Cloud somewhat.

HA I don't care for the visual design or the Teflon materials choices. No idea about its component quality TBH... The volcano "just works". Nothing really to say there good or bad. It's like my old retired workhorse :)

I kind of feel the same about the INH as the 'cano in this category: It's no frills design that just works. I don't care for it visually but I don't hate it either. The dual convection/conduction design is simply brilliant and it's what separates it from the pack in my testing. To me it's pretty amazing that the 250 dollar portable INH can keep up with the 400 dollar desktop cloud or Volcano (minus minor battery issues for long use, see below) and even surpass them in many categories.

The INH I like everything except for 3 things:
1) Sometimes auto-shutoff engages on me from the motion sensor even while it's in motion. This is usually while it's suspended in a glass piece being passed around. The sensor seems not to be sensitive enough for when the unit is being moved carefully. Would almost like an override sometimes.

2) Sometimes the battery dies even when the unit has been plugged in during use. But to be fair this is usually after an hour or two. Still, this is the only thing keeping the INH from being a 100% cloud replacement IMO. Maybe it could bypass the battery in a future version and operate off USB power???

3) It's been said, but the capsules are too pricey. I want to buy 10 or 20 and preload them all but just can't justify it.

Sounds like the XP will solve issue #2 for me. I will most likely be ordering myself one because at the very least two INH's must be better than one :) Actually my friend really likes the INH too so I'd probably sell mine to him if I get the XP. He is a smoker that I introduced to vaping and he is being converted over. Currently borrowing the HA :)

Happy New Year!

I actually had it plugged in the whole time during those long sit down sessions. Still died after 1-2 hours of continuous on time. Wasn't an iphone charger, but a regular micro USB charger from my cell phone. Yea I have one of those phones without any data plan :)

Are you saying the iphone charger specifically will give more power eliminating these drop outs? Or maybe the detail about it being plugged in was lost in the overly long post of mine?

Later I want to get a picture of the INH being used with my medium sized bubbler. It's a perfect fit.

There is NO motion sensor that should turn off you INH...maybe you are thinking Pax. It shouldn't turn off unless it is dead or done with the ten minutes.

It will die while plugged in cause using it takes more juice then the plug can give. So for example if you have used it say for 6 capsules and you are trying to go 6 more by plugging it in it won't happen.

ye the iphone charger has double the power of a normall one as my brother told me... and also charge the inhalater faster!!
So as I understand it gives the power to inhalater to charge and the the power to use it at same time!!
It has to do with the Ambers the iphone charger provide over inhalators one, but i was abit medicated and didnt gaved close attention :D

Right off the charger itself, 5 volts 1 amp.

I beleve the inh charger is 0.5amp i have to check it one sec :)
(if anyone have the charger next to him would be helpfull )

If I'm not mistaken, wall plug-in usb ports are 1 amp at 5 volts and the actual USB ports are generally .5 amp at 5 volts.

Are you plugging your inh into a standard usb port or into a wall outlet?

I am doing the wall like they said to. I do recall the post where they said all wall were the same. I had an issue with there plug freezing my cell so I still have to use separate usb plugs which was fixed with any INH that were gotten after me.

Healthy and happy new year all!!!

The iPhone's charger gives 1Amp while most of the wall USB chargers give less. Nook's USB wall plug for instance gives only 500mA, Inhalater's gives 550mA and iPhone's gives 1000mA. When my battery craps out the iphone's charger is the one that keeps me vaping. You don't need time for the battery to get some charge. True pass-trough according to my experience. I realy think Inhalater should change their wall plugs at some point with a 1000mA ones... It would make a great difference for all day vaporists! :)

Hmmmmmmmmmm I will have to check out all my chargers to see what they put out. I wonder why the INH one freezes my phone. Does that mean that one puts out to much for my phone? I have a mytouch slide 4G.

ok I managed to get some surgical spirit from a chemist as ISO does not appear to be readily available in the UK. It contains industrial methylated spirit 95% v/v, diethyl phthalate, castor oil 2.5%, methyl salicylate 0.5%. Is this okay to use and if so is therea guide to cleaning the INH?
Thanks

TOMMOROW IS THE SHIPPING DAY ?!?!?! :D cant wait cant wait!!! 2 months without any vape...

I've been about a week without a vape. If it weren't for vaporizers, I'd quit altogether. Smoking just isn't nearly as enjoyable, feels dirty, harsh, ect.

lol guuuuyyyyyssss

The Inh will charge as fast as it's onboard charger will allow. The only way to charge it faster would be to take out the battery and put it on an actual lithium battery charger. The current ratings on usb adapters are just maximum ratings, look at the tablet chargers and you'll see they put out 2.2a (2200ma) because the tablets have a powerful onboard charger to deal with their big batteries.

You can connect your Inh to a 2200ma charger no problem because the charger inside the Inh will only draw what it was designed to draw (probably less than 500mA) but it won't charge any faster unless the charger they ship it with is under-powered...

Dreamer: Phones have their own problems... they're basically computers so there are hundreds of things that can make them freeze: https://www.google.com/search?q=mytouch slide 4G&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS492US492&oq=mytouch slide 4G&sugexp=chrome,mod=4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&safe=off&tbo=d&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS492US492&sclient=psy-ab&q=mytouch slide 4G freezes on charger&oq=mytouch slide 4G freezes on charger&gs_l=serp.3...4493.4984.0.5062.4.4.0.0.0.0.80.286.4.4.0.les;..0.0...1c.1.gHg6FE4OhQU&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=4923ca7c4da5ccfb&bpcl=40096503&biw=1920&bih=955

So why does it work like that only with my iPhone charger? With every other charger it needs time to recharge for some time before it can heat up again....
I would prefer Inhalater to answer this question, otherwise your answer makes me look like... I see things.... :uhoh:

lol...I believe...we all see things after using our inhalaters...:D I remember the manufacturer telling us that they used unprotected lithium batteries and that the micro-chip?(not sure if this is the correct name) creates a protected circuit. So I would assume, and would have to agree with JoeKickass, they limit the charge allowed to the battery.

lol! Sorry I didn't really get what you were saying, but you could certainly be right:

The Inh charger is going to have a set amount of current that it takes, but the extra current available must be able to be used by the Inh heater when it's turned on if it does indeed work when the battery is really really dead. So I'll amend my lesson:

A different usb adapter won't charge your Inh battery faster, but it sounds like it enables simultaneous charging and vaping which, if the factory charger doesn't, is a pretty big plus!

I think that make sense...and I am very interested to purchase one of these chargers..I dont own any apple products but I assumed they dont use micro-usb on their products. Natural Farmer are you using the supplied cord with an apple adapter?

Well at least I was mostly right with my post that it will die while plugged in and it takes forever to charge no matter what usb I use wooohooo one for me today.
