Different Purchasing options for different prices! Criteria = Stop abusing lungs!

Hi there,

First of all, Happy New Year to you all!

I'm on the autistic spectrum. I think it's been close to a year since I found out that weed has such a great calming effect on me. I'm also able to think more clearly and my tunnel vision ( both literally and thought process wise ) - gets a lot better. It varies a lot with different strains..And I have been relying on weed more and more. I think in search for a relief for my "head", I have been abusing my "lungs".

I would like to invest in a vaporizer without any harmful parts. I have been reading as much as possible but the sheer amount of options literally overwhelms me. I'm hoping I can get some help to narrow down the options.

Budget right now = $100/$150 but this is just for now. The more time I wait, the more I can increase the budget ( let's say 2 weeks from now = $250 ) I don't want to set an upper limit but the goal is not to spend as much as possible..but maybe to find out the healthiest options I can get at different price points...

So for $100/$150 = What ones should I look at?

Let's stop at $300 for now? If I need to invest more for get a really healthy option, I will. I will try to do as much as research as possible on every suggestion I get!

Thank you

First off, welcome to FC, Shad0w, and Happy New Year to ya.

LOTS of choices for ya in your price range.

So, let's try and narrow this down a bit and let me ask you a few questions.

Do you want a portable or a desktop unit that requires AC power?
Do you want to primarily be hitting your vapor through a bong or bubbler?
Do you want a vape that provides super thick, rich hits, or do you want a vape that will conserve your bud?
Will you primarily be vaping by yourself or vape with friends?

Answering the above will help to narrow down your choices.

don't forget about medibles. longer lasting effect (imo) once you learn the right dosage for yourself.

but get a vaping option also because smoking is just plain foul for you.

Thanks for the reply and welcome!

I browsed through a few forums before registering here! Everyone seemed very friendly and nice here. I rarely join forums..

Do you want a portable or a desktop unit that requires AC power?
Portability would be nice but would I be making sacrifices in terms of component quality compared to a desktop unit?

Do you want to primarily be hitting your vapor through a bong or bubbler?
No preference there. I bought a Mini Borosilicate Glass Bong on Christmas. That's when I learned that such things as vaporizers existed. I didn't have any good teachers... :)

Do you want a vape that provides super thick, rich hits, or do you want a vape that will conserve your bud?
Not possible to get a bith of both worlds? If not, I would go for conserving the bud.

Will you primarily be vaping by yourself or vape with friends?

Myself.

Thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate the help!

Hi there Shadow, welcome to the world of FC

I browsed through a few forums before registering here! Everyone seemed very friendly and nice here. I rarely join forums..

I am the same, but I think that you will find that the community around here runs in contrast to most of the other kinds you will find on the net today. I hope you like it and stay, I did

Portability would be nice but would I be making sacrifices in terms of component quality compared to a desktop unit?

Not necessarily, it's more of a compromise than a sacrifice with some of them. There are small and quick vaporizers like the MFLB and the PuffIT that don't have vapor output anywhere near that of the desktop units, but there are also portable units that "bride the gap" between portable and desktop vapor output. For example, the Arizer Solo, which can be had for about 160 dollars, is about the size of a soda can, not necessarily pocket size but can run off batteries for a couple of hours and hits almost as hard as a desktop.

No preference there. I bought a Mini Borosilicate Glass Bong on Christmas. That's when I learned that such things as vaporizers existed. I didn't have any good teachers... :)

How do you smoke you herb? I love hitting the bong and my main way is to vape through my glass. You can take much bigger hits than normal when you water condition it.

Not possible to get a bith of both worlds? If not, I would go for conserving the bud.

It is possible, it's just that some types are much better at conserving than others. For example, the log vapes (like the underdog and epicvape) are extremely good at conserving herb, and people can get happily blazed off of .1 - .2 of a gram with them. The solo is very similar in design to a log vape and is very good at conserving on the higher levels.

Nope. Component quality of portables is no less than that of desktop units, but typically, some desktop units can provide a thicker, denser hit than portables can provide.

Certain vapes work better through glass bongs than others.

Kind of diametrically opposed to one another. If conservation is at the top of your priority list, look at the log vapes such as the UnderDog.

If you are not use to vaping, I would just like to point out that almost all vapes will conserve bud when compared to smoking it, at least as much has been my experience.

And there are many choices, but have you considered going even less expensive for starts? The vapor genie coil is $35, is small and extremly portable, and my experience with vaporgenie has been very good. You have to still use it with a lighter, and there is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the technique down it is fantastic.

My other suggestion would be arizer solo. It is an electric portable with the strength of a table top. Also, its pack isn't that large so it can help with conserving bud while still giving a monster rip. Another observation, the solo is great for solo use, but it is also very well suited for small groups.

Welcome to the community, Shadow. The Arizer Solo has made many instant vapor converts IME - it sure did at the 12/30 Further concert, people couldn't stop tapping me on the shoulder and asking why I was smoking out of a phone charger. Anyone who I let try it was instantly impressed. It has great hit density and quality, better battery life than its competitors, virtually no learning curve and mates effortlessly to glass. I think it really is a steal at the current 160$ price point, and should you get a hard-hitting desktop vape like the Vriptech or Vape Exhale Cloud in the future, then it'll be a complementary purchase which won't make the excellent, portable Solo superfluous.

I'm trying to read as much as I can about everything you guys mentioned. I have a few quick questions about some of the things I have been reading.

One thing I keep reading a lot here but not sure if it's a legitimate concern is the necessity for the "all glass" path. Is it for the taste or for health reasons? I'm extremely taste sensitive. Are the log vapes going to have a nice taste to it? I also read about how the owner of underdog was helping a forum member. That was so nice.

That is indeed an incredible price. I didn't think any recommendation would come from that price range. How are these compared to other vaporizers when it comes to conserving the bud? Stainless steel shouldn't be any concern, right? It looks like a good first time vaporizer. I could also get the hemp wick holders which many mentioned here.

Arizer solo seems to have lot of fans here! I read some posts about smell concerns and coating/paint flaking? Anything to be worried about?

Thank you

Choices!

Vapolution 2.0 + AIWB for $120 shipped. If I wanted to use a bong or bubbler with the AIWB, how would I achieve this? Everything I have read about the all glass flavor = I like it!

Underdog Ash for $190 - converve bud king???

Arizer solo for $225 - All rounder?

If you guys had to pick, which one would you pick?

Thank you

I would go with the UD, and then i would get a portable since it seems you don't care much about portability.

OTOH, the solo could do both at the expense of a bigger bowl (less conserving). It is also at 160$ at puffitup, don't go for where you found it at 225$.

In my experience, the Arizer Solo should be at the top of your list (note that I do not own nor have I tried a log vape like the underdog). The Solo pairs great with a bong, hits nice and extremely clean, with a glass pathway from a stainless steel bowl, heats up in a jiffy, has 7 different temperature control settings and while it's not as portable as say the Magic Flight, it's small enough to carry around relatively inconspicuously. It fits nicely inside a red bull can. Plus, it's priced right at Puffitup, one of the sponsors of this forum, for $160. Even if you move on to a desktop vape, the Solo will remain useful. That's the one I would get. Welcome to the forum, Shadow.

The more you read, the more questions you seem to have! I read that some of the UD like the ash ones are glue ups. Is that something to be bothered about?

Looks like the Solo is highly recommended here!

I'm interested to know why everyone recommends the Solo over the Vapolution? Is there something about the Vapolution that I don't know about that makes it not suitable? It does suck that the AIWB can't be used with any kind of water filteration. I was intrigued because on the Solo thread, I saw some users raising some health concerns about the Solo and I didn't come across anything like that on the Vapolution thread. Is it because solo is more popular and more people have it and hence people posting concerns?

Thank you

Other than the old concern about the ceramic bowls, which are no longer in production, what health concerns do you have with the solo? From what i've read, the vapolution seems like a good vape too.

I was just reading from the beginning on that huge thread... didn't realize things are stainless steel now. That's good to know. The $160 deal seems hard to beat. comes with a grinder too. It feels very hard to commit...feels like I should read and read to make sure. My condition can make me very repetitive some time.

What's your guys opinion on SSV? I was just reading through the whole forum and it came up on lot of places. I read that it has a a clear air path. Portability is really not a concern. Any bad comments about it?

Thank you

I don't think you are going to find many people who don't love the 7th Floor vapes. But if portability is no concern, then I would save the money and go with the vapolution. But if you think that you would like to take your vapor on the road at all, I'd go with the solo.

I don't own a Vapolution but i prefer the Solo over it because of it's portability. Both are very efficient with your material, and have great taste. I believe, from what i read, that the Vapolution has an all glass vapor path (someone correct me if im wrong) which is always a big plus imo.

I wouldn't be bothered with the glue because i believe it is not in the air path but others might be. It really is up to you but i think the UD is a very good option as well.

The SSV has two problems imo, although "problem" is not actually the right word. First, it uses a whip which is more pratical in many instances but i taste it in my buddha after the terpenes are gone compared to my WW for example. And it has a big bowl which is not helpful when you want to save on material.

I feel like i need to recommend a solo, i got one, and now everyone i used to smoke with owns a solo... its by far the easiest to use, turn on, set temp, enjoy. I've owned three solo's personally. Anouther thing i like about my solo is that Arizer has a year warranty, so if it does break, yes it occasionally happens, you don't have t worry about it, just put it in the mail and a month later you have a new vape (in my experence).
I recently won a Magic Flight box and for stealth and supper portability you may look at one of them.
MfLB is made in San Diego California and has a life time warranty, however the box has needs to be treated a certain way to get rips, (cuz its battery operated with user controlled vaporization, no computer parts to maintain perfectly accurate temp). If you have any more questions feel free to PM me, I always like helping to convert combusters.

Great Scott!
Now this recomendation for a portable is 100% blind, but I'm going to say the pax LOOKS like it'll be a perfect beginner portable vape.

I should be getting mine in the mail today so I don't want to say anything I don't know first hand, but other member reviews seem to be pretty favorable for this thing. I am anxiously awaiting mine today.

If the solo's year warranty impresses you, the TEN year warranty of the pax will blow your socks off. I can say with confidence that I won't be using the same portable in 10 years. If battery technology doesn't improve significantly in 10 years, I'll eat my hat.

As a owner of a SSV, Solo and Underdog, I would say you can't go wrong either way, all great quality. But if you want something that can conserve AND create huge hits, I would recommend the Underdog. A solo if you're away from the house a lot. The SSV requires larger loads, but is more of a hands on experience, if you like that sort of thing, like I do.

Yes, I completely agree with that. Having not owned a Solo, I can say that I absolutely love my Pax. I chose it due to portability and stealthiness, but it is a great vape! And 10 year warranty like darkrom said! :-)
