Fine wool won't do harm to stainless steel. I've used it for years on expensive cookware and wheels. We're all already using all kinds of items to pick, scrape and scrub the airways in our Pax and the mouthpiece stem is probably the most durable part of all.

If you're still uncomfortable using steel wool, try your favorite "gentle" scrubber. Steel wool certainly does the trick, but one can presumably also use a rough towel, a magic eraser, a bent pipe cleaner, etc.

The point is, the temperature light issue is a cleaning issue and not a defect. Soaking in ISO is not enough. It needs to be scrubbed with something.

Add a 'stem-scrubbing' to your cleaning regimen and the temp light problem goes away. I've tested this multiple ways and it solves the problem 100%.

Take a piece of #0000 steel wool to a mirrored piece of stainless and you can see the clouding that appears on the surface of the mirrored steel. That clouding is a bunch of very fine, very small scratches. All steel wool will scratch stainless steel.

How am I supposed to clean this thing without getting any rubbing alcohol on the temp button? It's damn near impossible. I use a pipe cleaner dipped in rubbing alcohol and the temp button is now very stiff, but still moves a tiny bit.

What kind of pipe cleaners are you using? And are you soaking the cleaner or just dampening it?

I use the bristly pipe cleaners and just roll them in an alcohol wipe and poke it through the air stem and then work it back and forth a few times from the oven side. It's easy with this method to not get any iso even near the temp button.

Fair enough. I'll restate--I don't think fine steel wool is harming the mouthpiece stem on my Pax.

Anyone else trying anything else--towel, magic eraser, pipe cleaner, cotton ball?

Plastic bristled pipe cleaners, wooden toothpicks, plastic dental picks, and q-tips for the mouthpiece and vapor tube. Mr. Clean magic eraser for the oven and screen.

Aluminum foil works to remove rust from steel without leaving marks/scratches. Presumably it would work.

And hold the unit so it is upside down, putting the pipe cleaner up into the tubing. Gravity will prevent ISO from going onto the temp button by doing this.

Unboxed to0k 1hr 20 mins to fully charge n turn green.

Dry fired for a couple mins (no mystery vape..lol.. inspected w/ laser) n tossed in some kiefiZzle. I been playing around topping bowls, str8 kief n topping bowls w/ pg.

The mouthpiece gets hot as hell not really like cigars cause I blaze stogies. I start at medium temp n work my way up in cash on high temp. The draw is slow but manageable. I'm hoping to get a water attachment n solve both those issues.

Clean after use while still warm w/ Q tips, ISO n pipe cleaners w/ bristles.

I told some guys last night playing poker at my boys that it was an e-Gar (e-cigar) n they believed me..lol

I wonder if a Mr clean magic eraser would do the trick? They are supposedly non-toxic, but I can't say for sure.

Tweek, there were a couple of pages in this post where we debated this method of cleaning. I believe what was resolved was user preference. I, personally, use the magic eraser to clean the oven and the screen then I use iso to "sanitize" where I used to magic eraser. I love it, it works great.

Ok, off to clean Pax.

The trick is to intentionally draw slow (like being delicate at the very end of a joint)

If the MP gets hot it means you're pulling a lot of warm air through it, slow down, let the air get hotter in the oven, and you get a cooler MP and bigger clouds!

This way even low temp gives you nice vapor (and tastes so much better!)

I have had both the Ultra Light and the Eterra for nearly 10 years and these do not have to be
cleaned. But I love cleaning my Pax. I think all the vapor being concentrated into such a small
enclosed space causes the issues. So it is the price you pay for such a great small device.
IMO is the on and off switch being in the vapor path that causes most of the problems, but the people at ploom doesn't seem to be in any hurry to modify that because customers are willing to put up with it being such a popular vaporizer.

month and a half with the pax without any real problems and its treated me very well but the problems i believe have begun. My battery goes from green to red in a matter of ten mintues on constant use. Ive never run it all the way down so i guess it could last longer than i think but it still is worries me that it could burn out mid sesh at any time. secondly my mouth piece is now becoming very sticky and every time i press the mouthpiece in it comes up very slowly. Ive been regularly cleaning it so this shouldnt be to much of an issue. I know this has been discussed but i dont really want to sift through 255 pages of this thread

anyone have advice for a sticky mouth piece that comes ups very slowly?
has anybody had a faulty battery light that doesnt accurately show how much power is left?

Clean your MP and your vapor tube with a pipe cleaner thoroughly and then get some of the MP lube Ploom is sending out. This should fix it. Hope this helps!!

I just wanted to chime in and update my experience with pax since i've now had it for a few months. Can't remember exactly when i bought it, but got the first wave of second generations that shipped out. I use pax as my daily driver and have used it quite frequently throughout the day, every day, over the past few months. I mainly use it on the medium setting. I clean my pax once a week and i'm not ocd about cleaning. I've changed the screen once and have replaced the mouthpiece once.

Pax is still going strong. For only a short time i had the temp light issue when trying to heat up a bowl. What i found this to be is basically just an indication that i need to clean my mouth piece. Best solution i found is to get a q-tip and stick it in some 90% iso and then roll the head of the q-tip in your fingers to make it thinner so it will fit inside the tube of the mouthpiece. Stick it in the mouthpiece tube and work it around. Do it a couple of times until you feel its clean. You'll definitely see resin. Usually this will do the trick and my pax is good for another week, but if not, then i use a pipe cleaner and stick it in the mouth piece that is inside the pax unit and clean the od. I'm able to fit the mouthpiece in there and move it up and down or twirl it with my fingers around the outside of the tube.

Other than that, i still love this thing. Continue to work like new and still pull thick clouds. Nicest thing about it is the convenience. Easy as loading a bowl. Proud to say i haven't combusted since i got it. :)

At this point, the only source is Ploom themselves. Email Ploom and tell them what you need, and they will send it right out. That was my experience at least. We don't yet know exactly what kind of lube it is or if we can get it widely available.

Read through the Vaporpedia article linked in my sig if you haven't already to see if you can find any additional help there.

TheDudeNextDoor,
I have to tell you guys that I love my Pax so much I got a cobalt one as a backup. It's so beautiful - the oven is so shiny, no temp light issues and best of all, I'll never be without a fully charged Pax

I too am combustion-free since I got my first Pax in October - I find the burnt taste of combustion kinda gross and definitely unsatisfying now.

I looked at a lot of vaporizers and chose this one because it not only looks great and is pocketable, it's also a completely one-handed device once you get it set up. I love that I can water the flowers outside with my Pax in one hand and the hose in the other, and the neighbors be none the wiser :peace:

Oh cool! I'm expecting some lube from them soon also. Wonder if they included goodies like this for me as well. It's Christmas all over again!
