that's sweet. I cant get anywhere near that level of cloud. Typically i pack the oven 3/4 tamped and get 2 small clouds, maybe once in the ten times i have used it i got a cough inducing cloud. Seems like the budha i have is more efficient or maybe i have it turned up too high and am burning it. Anyway maybe i expeiment with diiferent strains

How do i get a hold of some of this pax lube i hear about?

Just hit up the support chat on the PAX website and ask them to send yo some I guess, thats what I did.
I did a google search for "food grade conductive lubricant" but its most large companies and such hard to find this stuff.

I have that set on High, and it seems to me, that I used to get even thicker vapor when my pax was new, granted I didn't load a full oven, just did about a 1/3 pack on the 65T vid, but look at the pax milking Ion vid:

Dry material, fine grind, packed tight.

Also, never underestimate the importance of vaping quality herbs. Lesser quality herbs will not give you the big clouds that herbs loaded with trichs will provide regardless of the vaporizer you're using or the methods of using it. The Pax does seem to like a full oven, though.

I was getting the best results from fine ground tight packs, but only filling it half way. At full compacity the top wasn't vaping at all and required stirring, everything after the stir tasted bad anyway, so I just save me self a step and only fill it half way

Read the post just above yours.

No one knows yet exactly what kind of lubricant it is, so the only source currently is Ploom themselves. If we can figure out how we can get it widely, I promise you will see it discussed here.

i saw that, i was hoping i didnt have to hit them up for it...but what the hell...i'll hit them up for it.

My remedy for the temp light problem:
  • Clean the stainless steel stem of the mouthpiece very thoroughly with ISO and steel wool
  • Even a small amount of resin in any of the grooves can prevent the circuit from being completed
  • ISO and steel wool all along the stainless steel, including the upper piece of the stainless steel where the small piece moves up and down.
Over time, light resin gets into the grooves and soaking the mouthpiece in ISO is then not enough.

This has been an easy and stable fix for me. I now use steel wool to clean that area in addition to soaking/wiping with ISO and it relieves the issue.

Have any of you tried this yet? Just a quick scrub of the stem with ISO and steel wool and it works like new.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I'm afraid of creating micro scratches on the mouthpiece vapor tube with the steel wool. More resin will just build up in those micro scratches.

After about 4 days of receiving my Pax I can say it has been working fine, I have cleaned the oven once or twice, but I can say on High I can get some pretty good clouds for awhile, one thing I like to do to make it 5x better is pack like 2 layers of kief between the flower. No temp light issue here yet.

I know I've seen somebody post it on here but I can't seem to find it... Can anyone tell me what the best attachment would be to hook the pax up to a water pipe? thanks a million guys :)

I use soft silicone tubing stretched over the mouthpiece. 1/2" works for 14mm but is a pain to stretch, you can go larger (3/4"??) to fit 18mm

I use an old top hat grommet from a non glass on glass bong. Works perfect (I mean fucking perfect) a lot of head shops still sell these types of bongs, so replacement grommits shouldnt be hard to find. I had cut the rubber pump on the turkey baster down to this shape first and that worked really good too, and I have a feeling some of you might have one of those on hand :D. with this I had the rubber covering the aluminum too which I kinda liked, gave it really hard pulls.

I use a fine wool and don't get have any scratches at all after 4 months. It's the same stuff we use on our expensive stainless steel cookware.

I was thinking the same thing, I use #000 on my car which is the finest second only to #0000. It doesn't scratch the stainless steel exhaust bits

Do you know what number you have? #00, #0, #1, #2, etc. get progressively rougher... I think it goes all the way to 5 or 6!

Any steel wool will cause micro scratches, even #0000 wool will cause scratching. They may not be visible with the naked eye, but they are there.

Actually I was meaning to "rough up" the inside of the mouthpiece tube with a rougher wool because when it's cold the little imperfections should scrape away the cold resin better and make clean contact to prevent the temp light. I have a feeling steel wool could have a double positive effect of cleaning and preventing build up effecting the temp light in the future through micro-scratches digging through the resin.

Fine wool won't do harm to stainless steel. I've used it for years on expensive cookware and wheels. We're all already using all kinds of items to pick, scrape and scrub the airways in our Pax and the mouthpiece stem is probably the most durable part of all.

If you're still uncomfortable using steel wool, try your favorite "gentle" scrubber. Steel wool certainly does the trick, but one can presumably also use a rough towel, a magic eraser, a bent pipe cleaner, etc.

The point is, the temperature light issue is a cleaning issue and not a defect. Soaking in ISO is not enough. It needs to be scrubbed with something.

Add a 'stem-scrubbing' to your cleaning regimen and the temp light problem goes away. I've tested this multiple ways and it solves the problem 100%.

I wonder if a Mr clean magic eraser would do the trick? They are supposedly non-toxic, but I can't say for sure.
