Arizer Solo

The label on the charger is:
Class 2 power supply
Model: SW-120100
Input: 100-240V AC
50/60Hz
Output: 12V DC 1000 mA
Manufactured by: Shenzhen Jiayuanxing Electronic Co. Ltd
(same as here http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/arizer-solo.3833/page-101#post-163902)

The voltage here is 230V@50Hz, so it should fit.

What disturbs me the most is the red led flashing during charging (I've taken a good look now and I get 5 green flashes for each 2 red flashes).
That is not supposed to be happening right?

The green light never gets to stable green it's flashing all the time.

the red light comes on while the solo gets up to the temp you set. So after charging it, I unplug it, press the up and down buttons at the same time and press the up button until it reaches 3, then let go of the up button and wait. When the solo reaches the 3 temp the red light goes off for the most part and all that's left on is the idle light on the bottom, which is blue, and the 3 leds. The red light does flash on and off intermittently. By the way, my charger has exactly the same numbers as yours, so that could be the issue.

Ugh I hate frustration.
To answer the one question that wasn't answered your charger plugged in will have that stupid red light always on whether you are using it or not. It is just an idiot light like power strips. I now have a nightlight solo plug lol.

Ok so let's go one step at a time.
Plug in to charge
blue light and green flashing light go on...green one blinks
yellow comes on to current charge which you said it at 7
NO RED LIGHT SHOULD BE ON(makes me wonder if you got a pass through plug instead)
When fully charged green goes steady and all lights(not red) will be on steady

If this is not happening then something is wrong. Personally, I don't suggest doing it, I would stick my finger in the bowl to see if it is getting hot. If it is my thought is you have the plug that you can use the solo while plugged in instead of the charger...just a guess since you having found an answer yet.

Hop pretty much took care of you. Someone from Europe will chime in with the answer if it is the correct plug but I remember reading you just need an attachment.

Actually it's
- blue (idle led) flash once;
- only the (single) "7" yellow led turns on and there is a beep; then the led goes off,
- blue (idle led) tuns back on and red power led (not green) turns on,
- all 1-7 yellow leds turn on, both red and green power leds flash; -- it then stays in this state

The heat led is never turned on (red led means red power led).

I did check the temperature with my finger before because the solo was making some strange hissing noises- it was cold, and the noises stopped after plugging the charger in and out.

I also tried doing some random stuff with pressing or holding the buttons both together and separately - no visible effect.

It looks like my plans to stop smoking for the new year just went down the drain..

Not really you just may be a week or two late. Just return it and get a new unit. Either the charger or the unit is broke so you need to exchange it.

I think dreamerr may be onto something with the pass through.

where did u purchase from? seeing what they offer for the solo will perhaps confirm or rule out this possibility. did u have an option in your "shopping cart" to choose between 2 different plug ins?

I know this sux for you, I'd be totally bumming I know, if it were me. I wish you the best of luck in getting this issue rectified.

Yea can't be a pass through since he felt no heat when plugged in. Unless there is a special way to use the pass through since I don't have one yet.

Have you tried pushing the up arrows while plugged in to heat?

Dreamerr,

vorrange

Vapor.wise
The pass through works at 8,5V and 5A so that can't be it. The charger you mention works with that specs, just have to watch out for the connector since it is not 2,1mm like in a power source for a log vaporizer.

It seems that there is something wrong with the unit, wether its the battery or something in the unit's programming.

When its charging there should be a blinking green light, a blinking red light means its heating.

I see some solo on eblay for @ 140 that say they are authorized dealers.

I state this as reading this thread I've seen warranty issues and we should be buying from authorized dealers plenty of times.

I visited the arizer site and could find no authorized dealers list.

could these eblay sellers actually be authorized sellers of the solo? or is that BS? any clues anyone?

160 at PIU is very good but 140 is even better.

============

model or version #'s this is VERY confusing, what should I be shopping for m107 , m108, m1xa,b,c,d? or is there even a difference between these mentioned?

Some vendors sell on ebay as well as there own site. It should have the vendors name. If it is just a persons name I would stay away. If it is a vendor post it here and someone may know the vendor or you can google them to see if they have a site. I know othersideofvapes sells on ebay.

as far as eblay sellers I msg the two I considered buying from, now just see what they say.

and as far as "authorized goes and warranty claim's. I pulled this from the vaporpedia solo page
Arizer eventually clarified that they will honor the warranty for units purchased from unauthorized vendors, but since this will be factory service it could take time, and might involve cross-border shipping of used units.

now I have no clue if the VP is fact or not so take that with a grain of salt if need be.

@bochen, good luck , hope you have a speedy turnaround and all goes smoothly thereafter.

Peace ;)

I like the flavor a lot better on the lower settings. Its a very clean taste with the solo. First draw on 3 for me is pretty light, but after a few slow draws the herb seems to heat up a bit with more visible vapor. Regarding your point about temperature variations, i wonder how much variation there is, model to model or unit to unit.
I have 2 105s. They are substantially different in terms of both charging time (how long a charge lasts) and temps. Very different. 1 I use at 4-5, the other 5-6. One lasts a couple sessions, one lasts seemingly all day (although I do plug each in when not in use and not in pocket). So, there is much variation as far as I'm concerned. And of course I'm using the infamous 105s which everyone else says run much cooler (in spite of the fact that they all have temp settings).

Return the solo it should be a steady green when charging.
Had one that did the same thing.
And most eBay sellers handle the warranty themselves ,just ask them.

If you want it to charge, while plugged in hold the solo by the top and slap the back of the solo(opposite the buttons)
against your hand until the charger light stays green and it will charge. That's how my defect was.

Stone Monkey personally I wouldn't want to send it to arizer. PIU for example gives you a label for a return and they are also fast. I think that alone is worth the extra 20 bucks. Randy also treats all of us very well. Now if your ebay guys will do what he does then I would consider it with first asking who has used them here. I have two vapes that haven't needed a return. My ssv which was used so fully tested and my DV original when they first came out which I never had an issue with. All the rest even the MFLB had to be returned.

In my case the plug is sticking out of the socket about 1mm ( I mean the plastic part of the plug is not touching the bottom of the solo - it's separated). Could that be the cause of problems or is it normal?

Also I need for vaposhop to reply to my email since this is what they explicitly tell people to do on their page.. (I want them to pay for shipping too).

stoner how long have you had your solo? Hasn't it been a while if I remember correctly which I don't lol? As much as I hate returning stuff these things are not cheap and if it is failing now what will happen in a year...get a new one.

FWIW I haven't heard of that issue yet but I could be wrong. It really seems like there has been some battery and circuitry issues with some of the newer units. I have had no issue with my replacement and it has gotten good use.

@bochen...does the metal of the plug show if so not normal.

Not too long, since June of 2012. I just ordered a charger and will be using my friends SOLO charger today to see if the problem is the unit or charger. sending it back would be the last thing i want to do:( but ill do it if necessary.

We all hate sending stuff back no matter what it is cause it is a pain but with the price tags of this stuff we have no choice. If it is the charger you will still need to get a return on that. Why pay for a new one when you can get it replaced. It is great your friend has one for you to test it.

June is a while so I wonder what caused it to fail. Most of the other units IIRC failed in a week or so including mine.

My M103 is still going strong. Actually I haven't used it in months, but when I can vape again(mid January) I'll give it a go to see if it's still operational.

i didnt know the charger was covered by warranty and i just dropped 30$ on a charger via vapenation  oh well. I emailed PIU about my issue.

edit: randy already emailed me about returning the charger. awesome!!

Gee I admire that you can take a TB if that is what you are doing. I unfortunately can't since I would need drugs to replace vaping which is not kewl. I try to cut down when home since I can sometimes be ok if home.

I am fairly sure it is since that is what they thought was wrong with mine but told me to send both in just in case it wasn't. It wasn't the charger but I do believe it has the same warranty unless abused as always.

Also don't forget Randy takes good care of us in either respect.
