it doesnt really need to, if u dnt clean it.. it will STILL work, unlike the Pax.

So you can basically say cleaning the stem is optional, plus dropping your stem into a pool of ISO doesn't take much work.

By that logic, log vapes, the Cloud, Da Buddha, the SSV, or really any convection vape is cleaning optional as well.

Every vape requires some cleaning to keep it working at 100 percent. It is no secret that the Pax requires a little more care than other vapes, but it's not the labor-intensive regiment so many want to make it. Krinkle's point was that ALL vapes require some cleaning care. That is true, even for the solo, unless you want to vape through some nasty, resin-coated glass stem.

whats your current take on the pax? worth hanging on to? I'm debating on selling mine to my friend who wants one, and buying a cera.

Good point, but there is a big difference: My nasty resin-coated stem doesn't keep my Solo from functioning; an unclean Pax might not work.

I love my Pax. It's slightly finicky, but it is the perfect stealth vape. I bought the Pax specifically for that reason so that I could vape at bar-band shows that I go to a lot. It is the perfect vape for that purpose because it is easily palmed and looks like some kind of Apple product, so no one gives it a second look. I have vaped literally standing right next to someone, and they had no clue at all. It is a little finicky, but once I figured out how to care for it, I have had zero problems for two months now with daily usage.

The Cera looks promising, but TV made big claims about the Evo also, and I was not too crazy about it. It was a HELL of a lot more difficult to get it to work well than the Pax, and I am not too crazy about the looks of the Cera. It looks like you are sucking on a tampon. With that said, it could be the vape to beat all vapes. Only time will tell.

Personally, though, I have never regretted buying the Pax and have no plans to sideline it at this point.

Ok, I do not think it has anything to do with Resin, or physics :) haha maybe when you put it in your mouth you moisten the stem some, so that kind of acts like the lube does and makes a better connection. Water is a good conductor of electricity, like the lube, but the lube does not evaporate.
I have them sending me a new MP and lube, and I’ll let you know how it goes.
The cleaning on this thing does not seem bad at all to me, and I hate to clean stuff, my other bongs and such are always dirty. I do not use it tons thou, I pack it maybe twice a day when its just me using it thru out the day. I think people make it sound worse than it is because of this temp light issue.
I can clean the bowl very easy, and the stem seems to get dirty more towards the bowl, a pipe cleaner in ISO really cleans the stem pretty good, and not waiting till it gets really bad seems easy enough, it does not get anything close to as bad a bowl or bong stem that combusts, I also dump out the material when it gets dark brown, but I don’t let it get black, so that might help cleaning.

Another thing, I had mine 2 days before it started to have the temp light issue, it started right after my first cleaning, an email from support said this and got me thinking.
"Please know that on the mouthpiece stem” that they are sending me “we have used a small amount of food-grade lubricant to replicate original factory conditions"

So maybe the new unit had that lube on the MP when I got it and I cleaned the stuff off when I first cleaned it and that started my temp light issue. It also says to put a small drop in the inside of the stem and on the outside of the stem, but I wonder in just the outside is really important. So I am going to try to put some on the outside only of my current stem first and see if that helps, then when I clean that MP I am going to try not to clean the outside of the stem at all, in fact I might wait for a very long time to clean the MP at all, because even the inside that gets vapor is pretty clean after lots of use, I have cleaned my MP several times and it never seems dirty at all to me, even thou there might be tiny bit of build up, if the outside stays fine with lube on it, ill see how long that lasts.

I have only tested wetting the outside of the MP a little bit in my mouth twice now and it does seem to help, I will have to mess with that more, but I do not want to over wet it where stuff gets inside the unit at all, so I just barley wet it. I am waiting on the lube!

This is the same exact reason I bought it. I see people with atmos raws all the time where I go and It took me a while to catch on what it was before finally I was like, dude, is that hash?

Thanks for your input, I clean everything ocd status so that's not really going to bug me as I would have done so anyway. I literally got to use it 6-7 times so I hadn't made up my mind on it.

Is the Cera only for hash and Oil or whatever, hate to sound liek a noob here, but I have never used oil, and even thou I had had hash, I do not get ahold of it enough to use it like this. The video I watch on the Cera showed a wax ball, and lots of others seem to be made for that kind of material. That kind of material might be the best and the shit! but I can not find any consistantly so it wont help me

This is the Pax thread. We have a Cera thread. Even a quick look at it will tell you that the Cera is modular. For more info go to the Cera thread.

My opinion:

Agree x1,000. The Pax is elegant, easy to use, and provides a level of medication not before available in a portable of it's size! The omicron/mflb are nice but the Pax is truly a vape ex smokers will enjoy.

The Cera is a very well/over-engineered device, super hi-tech and undeniably cool, but the flower version is a convection-only unit and that just takes more power than conduction, you can see in the videos the clouds just aren't quite as impressive as the Pax. I suspect heavy flower users (like myself, I admit) will be more satisfied with the Pax's ability to vape truly massive bowls. The oil version of the Cera however is very attractive to me :D, the videos are almost beyond belief and I eagerly await user reviews and longevity reports!

However if you've never tried it, a thin amount of wax/oil in a sandwich of flower layers is fantastic in the Pax!

It could be they send you a new Mouth Peice to make you happy and a thing of Lube make the 250$ purchase not hurt so bad as a internal company joke. I will find out! :)

I think these statements are bang on. I have no doubt Ploom is targeting the converting smoker, which is a smart move into an attractive market.

cleaning is unavoidable. If you're looking for something you dont have to clean you should not buy any vape ;) Haha nice name

Haha I like your name as well, kudos. However I disagree with your viewpoint. Besides the stems, ive never had to clean the solo, the wispr bowl and mouthpiece only needs to be cleaned every couple weeks or so. Both the stems and the wispr pieces i just soak in rubbing alcohol for a couple minutes and they come out brand new. I have the same cleaning schedule for the vivape and my old ssv as well. And none of those vapes NEEDED to be cleaned to function, it was just more of e preference so they dont smell so much...

We're here to fuck shit up.
I thought I posted this, but I guess not.

I had contacted Ploom about getting a new mouthpiece because of temp light issues and the mouthpiece becoming overly loose fitting. They sent me a new mouthpiece in a small baggie with about a packet's quantity of lubrication in it and two small packets of lubrication. I have not had one temp light issue since, without cleaning, and the lubrication seemed to solve my buddies temp light issue as well. I lubed up the old mouthpiece as well and while it was still loose, there was no temp light issue. It leaves no perceptible taste that I can tell either. Plus, I haven't even had to open a packet of the lubrication yet because of what was already in the small baggie.

Another plus for Ploom customer service in my book.

I'm sure the engineers at pax took plenty of time to design this almost perfect portable vaporizer, what I don't understand is why don't they redesign the on and off switch away from the vapor path and mouth piece and eliminate most of the problems. Aren't they getting tired of people returning their product? Just think of all the money they could save.

Does anyone know what can be used as a replacement for the lube sent by Ploom? My warranty return came back without any lube in the box :\

That's the big question right there. I just emailed Ploom CS and asked for some. They replied very quickly that they were sending some my way. Expecting it any day now.
