Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

Slightly Medicated

(SliM) Iron Lungs
I have a big tub of PBW actually. I never can bring myself to use it. I don't change habits very easily. Been using ISO for 9 years... so I am not very hopeful I will be able to change the cleaning method. ;)

Edit: Today is picture day... That means new products are just around the corner. ;) I should have had the pictures done already, but this holiday weekend was crazy busy.

My bamboo has started to twist a little bit and move up and down is this bad?

general maintenance cleaning of the body and joint plus the customer's lack of options if the joint breaks are the only two things holding me back from buying a cloud (and the lack of stock on dry stem version...that is also a huge factor). I've read countless ELB cleaning methods but how are you guys cleaning the main joint and whatever is beneath it?

Yeah!! At least my unit made it to VapeXhale. I just checked the tracking. Now, just waiting on the return. This is torturous.

The new Cloud has a joint (washer or whatever) in the Bamboo at the bottom about an inch or so up. The older ones never had that so cleaning was easy with a rolled up paper towel to get the tiny black dust bits of ABV. I can see this black ABV dust on the inside of this washer joint but have no clue how to clean it out without filling the bamboo with ISO (which i'm afraid to do). I tried compressed air but no luck. Would pipe cleaners be able to get in there at all?

Nice report, vape4life. :)

Re the "joint" or "washer", I haven't seen the new units but I suspect it is a retaining ring. The flare on the old bamboo kept it from moving up too far; I think the retaining ring now serves that purpose. Therefore isn't the ring mounted on the outside of the bamboo, i.e., there is no actual joint? So I wonder if the dust you see isn't on the inside at all? I suggest this in the blind obviously, so I may be way incorrect. But it seems like a good guess.

When you order a cloud do they send you shipping info? I ordered Monday (totally understand they were closed for the holiday), I paid for the express mail ($46), how long does it usually take them to ship?

VXL is using the Post Office. The tracking is not consistent and IIRC mainly captures the initial pick-up event and the delivery after-the-fact.

How old is your unit? As described by vape4life above, does it have the flare or the ring at bottom?

Q-tip with ISO when unit is cold. The key is to not let the resin build up too long. An occasional swabbing is all that's necessary.

Yeah - they just emailed me the tracking info and its not working. I'm glad the email at least confirms that it was shipped and it went express mail. It's gonna be a cloudy weekend!!!

Usually takes quite a few hours for the tracking to start to work with USPS.

VapeNStone,
Ok, so I think my cloud has finally past on, but not before Santa came by for its last session. I got some good footage of him, but need a decent vid-edit program for proper presentation. Any suggestions?
Also, I'm patiently waiting for an email back from my submitted(week ago) ticket, so I know where to send my unit tomorrow.

Oh man, I know the feeling. Good luck. Hope everything goes smoothly. As for Video editing, free is Windows Movie Maker, and for Mac is iMovie.... Not sure if they work for you.

USPS is horrible. I have no idea why people don't go through UPS exclusively. It is marginally more expensive but I have run multiple businesses where the impact on profits from shipping costs never outweighed the positive customer experience with regards to order tracking. I have, several times with several vendors, been left wondering, "what are earth is going on with my package" when USPS is involved.

I was also recently made aware by a USPS supervisor that the wireless pads the postal carriers use to record deliveries and signatures are NOT online. The data is downloaded via a docking cradle at the end of a route. Sigh...get with the times

You should acquire the Adobe Create Suite and use Premiere Pro. I love the interface and it is pretty powerful yet much easier to work with than Final Cut Pro.

I wonder how long the Cloud dry stem version will be out of stock for...I am 100% kicking myself for not ordering it 10 days ago when it was in stock.

Every 2 to 3 days I run a rolled up paper towel moistened with 99% ISO up and down and twist around in the bottom and then top until no stickiness remains in the joint (usually takes about 15-30 seconds)

Thanks for the suggestions fellas... I tried the PBW, although i'm not sure if it's it exactly (it's purple powder, but when I asked for it at the Brewery they were clueless?), they gave me some powdered detergent so I assume that's what it is. Anyways, it worked okay, similar to ISO in that it gets it almost 100% clean, but I still have some holes clogged just on the bottom. I'll try some sort of brush as well instead of just the soak and hot water rinse. I notice the same thing on my Evolver Circ... right where the vapour hits that first inverted dome, there is a dime sized area of resin that is impossible to get clean without a pipe cleaner.

Oldie, i'm not really quite sure what you mean, but there is a black rubber retaining ring on the outside of the bottom of the bamboo which the older units didnt have. What i'm referring to is the inside glass part of the bamboo. On the older units (perhaps yours) it's hollow and you can roll up a piece of paper towel and fleece the bamboo. With the newer units, there is a glass type joint or narrowing or whatever, that prevents that. So 2" up from the bottom there is a little glass shelf with a bunch of black spots of ABV that I can't reach. It's the same stuff on the inside of the gong after a while, black abv dust. I do use a coffee grinder and like a very fine grind so perhaps i'm more susceptible to this. As of now, I think filling the bamboo up with ISO is the only way to clean it?

I also just wanted to add to the thread that after having used the Cloud on and off since its release, my VAS has been CURED!!!

^^ Great to hear from you again, are you back to full time vaping ? :)

Is the new cloud protected the bamboo better ? (if water spills) or we still have a major issue ?

Sorry, I guess I'm not following you. What you are describing sounds to me like the same lower orifice as on my older unit, 2" from the bottom of the tube. Looks like a glass washer inserted into the tube, just like the upper orifice about 1/2" below the lip of the joint. IIRC this question came up once before, except re the upper one??? Wasn't the solution an ISO soak? And if you're getting ABV dust down below, I wonder if you're not grinding too fine? I clean the bamboo infrequently and still get very little residue. Just guessing, but perhaps a little of your extra-fine grind is escaping the ELB and getting baked on?

Hey Mosh, not sure about "full time vaping" but I am regularly vaping (more responsibly, in order to keep that tolerance down)! I personally have never worried about the bamboo and have never had issues. I use the Cloud as intended, and even with ice it's not something that i'm prone to doing. I also have never had any issues with ELBs not fitting, and i've gone through dozens of them with having 4 Clouds now. I have never had an issues with the Clouds except for minor QC issues with some of the glass HT's i've received. I'm super anal, and would like some kind of HT that is as close to "perfect" as possible, like a Mobius, Sov, etc. would be wicked. But Evolver does make some pretty good stuff, I love my HydraCirc, have had 2 and they have both been pretty close to flawless.

You nailed it Oldie! I do bet it's the fine grind, but the vapour production is so fantastic that I like using it. No biggie, it doesn't cause the Cloud to stink or anything, and once I get the proper cork or stopper i'll do an ISO fill and soak once every few months or so. The top washer joint is easy to clean, although that damn resin ring is super stubborn and I think something i'll just have to live with.

T-dub's HT Flush Device FTW

I have a nice Moen kitchen faucet that I can kinda use as a flush device, but it still even with hot water won't clean that spot. I just need to get some pipe cleaners and i'll be good.

What is the ration of PBW to hot water to clean the ELBs or glass?

My SD HT can leak if you inhale while there's water and on a certain angle...is that not normal?

Depends, I supposed if the angle is high enough then yes. Sounds like you need the Inline SSFG :)

Again, I never have issues with any leakage, spillage, water going down the tube, or anything like that, and I do use it on an angle without issue.

When I had my SGW SD I would fill it with water and let the water naturally settle and keep it at that level, which was right just about the slits. With my Evolver, if I do that the water level remains somewhat higher than the slits, so I always end up dumping a bit out so it's even. Perhaps my conservative water usage leads to my successful use?

If you have a straight HydraTube, you are not suppose to tilt it. That will cause water to go into the bamboo.

It depends on your water level and how much you tilt it. I can tilt a ShowerDome with no problem, but the water level is appropriate for tilting.

^^^ Yeah well my solo died because of that and my cloud died because of ice....isn't there's a better way to secure the downfall of the water? I mean give a noob the HT and he will have a big chance to ruin it. (2 out of 2 for me lol)

Maybe in the future there'll be more safeguards and warnings. I can't speak for VXL. Meanwhile, ice melts and raises the water level. That's just the way it works. HT's can be tested for safe water levels (tilted or not) before being connected to the Cloud.

Evolver is making a tube with a splash guard at the bottom to protect the bamboo. Or the HydraLine has a pretty good resistance to water due to the vapor path.

Not sure how effective either are. I'm still rocking my original HydraTree.
