Discontinued Pax Vaporizer by Ploom

thought you implied that if you did get to black, then you combusted.

I don't think that's accurate. If I go on high until the oven is completely diminished, I get pretty black-looking abv, but it has not combusted. The abv coming out of my friend's Cloud looks about the same, and it has not combusted either. I think it just uses absolutely everything that can be gotten short of setting it on fire. With that said, I don't usually like to take it that far simply because it tastes pretty crappy. I have been stopping on medium recently and have been very happy with that.

okay so i just got my pax bloom a week ago, it was working great and still goes when it works properly. The problem is, sometimes it flashes orange randomly, i find it does it when its too cold or when i'm hitting it it goes orange then back to the pinkpurple to green. Also sometimes when i'm hitting it, it shows the color of the mode it's on, so i usually have it on high so itll flash red when im hitting it or moving the mouth piece.. and ideas? yeah i just hit it again now and it goes back to purple and its like it has to heat up again just from me hitting it, im hitting it slowly just like i have before.

i just thought that he said that if your avb is black, then you combusted.

Has anyone taken the Pax skiing yet?!

I used it in a blizzard the other day and it worked great. Set it on high and with a 2/3 full oven it was good for 4 or 5 clouds before needing stirring. I was hesitant at first because water probably not a good thing but i kept in my pocket to heat and stored it in a ziplock bag. Pretty convenient

Are there people on here with a PAX that have never had a temp light issue ever? just curious, because mine is really bad, and new.

I had just received my Pax earlier this morning and no temp light issue yet.

I don't wanna say for sure but I find when I draw from the Pax on Party mode it tends to give me a slightly more visible hit. Haven't heard anyone say this before though.

Visibility of the vapor has much to do with your filler. I have ran many strands through it in the week since it arrived and played with all the temps on each strand. Also I have not had any issues at all with my pax! (maybe I'm one of the lucky ones) although it's still been less than a week so I'm not going to jump to any conclusions but I will say that (so far) I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase! And I don't know about you guys but I blow HELLA clouds with my pax, so for those of you not getting noticeable vapor, just keep trying because when this thing works as its intended it is the shit!

And Merry Christmas Paxers!

SO THIS IS IMPORTANT I HAVE NOT YET READ THIS ANYWHERE! Ok so, a few things with this. Customer service seems great, managed to fuck mine up in less than a day even after making myself aware of the mouthpiece issue. The important note that I have yet to read, is when I took apart the mouth piece for cleaning, I lost the little ring on the stainless tubing. Wasnt sure it had a function other than being a spacer or a washer, turns out it does! yay! haha learned this the hard way. I put my mouth piece back on with out the little washer, decided to trail and error the situation and now the mouth piece will not release. I removed the plastic and tried to remove the small stainless tube with pliers, no luck. I'm betting if I force it out it will break the locking mechanism on the mouth piece, so be careful if you decide to be brave and remove it. guess itll go back unless anyone has any info on removing the stainless tube. Please dont tell me to heat it up or iso it, that wont fix this, its not stuck from resin, its stuck from having no clasp. Also people have cleaning tips, one I have that I have yet to see is for the screen, use a torch lighter to heat it up red hot, looks brand new afterwords! I use a big piece of aluminum behind it and it makes it cool evenly which gives it a bit different look than if you were to heat it up while holding it with pliers.

Pretty sure to release it you have to remove the torque screw on the back and release the mouthpiece manually. There's a post with pics a page or two back.

I have a feeling a lot of people are loosing this washer or ring with out even noticing. I lost mine and noticed, but its so small I have no idea where it went, saw it fall too. Sense they encourage heavy cleaning, they should have a small note telling you how important that little washer is. I figured worse case if that washer was important id take out the mouth piece and just get a new mouth piece, or find the damn tiny thing on my floor and reassemble it properly. Now I'm uncertain how the locking mechanism works on the interior, otherwise id just yank the damn tube out and buy a new mouth piece. They need to publish some work arounds for this on their website as this is a MASSIVE design flaw and yeilds a very expensive product useless.

thanks for the help, ill give it a shot

He says that there's a rubber o ring that u will ruin if u take the aluminum body off! Says it made no difference in how it performs but if you ever have to send it in then ploom will surely know that you've been into it.
Are you guys taking the plastic mouthpiece off of the stainless tube? Is that how your losing the washer?

The pics are on page 247 of this thread in a post by pakalolo.

thanks for the warning i took that into consideration prior to even reading that and decided not to tamper with it. I'm really sad about this. had it less than 2 days before screwing it up. I think people are doing what i did with out realizing it. Yes I lost the washer when i took the stainless tube off the mouth piece, wanted to run the pipe cleaner clean through the tube, which isnt possible with the plastic tip attached.

its annoying because you could easily put a second clasp on the tube to prevent this washer from sliding off. It is very unclear from looking at it that that ring would have any effect on performance, and I think anyone trying to get it very clean would think to pop this off eventually.

Merry Christmas y'all. I see about the battery needing soldered then and also see batt life issues and there I agree it's short. I seem to get more if I charge it and remove it within ten mins of getting green light. Will look at pictures and buy a Nr 2 pax to hit whilst Nr 1 pax charges. Then I'll pull mine apart and play batt. It vapes so well on low and I love pax, longer batt is all she lacks. Brought pax to chrissy dinner today, sweet taste ang happy times. Good night hope y'all have a great new year too.

Interesting. I will try that.

Yes, please try it and let us know if it works for you. Like many other problems, the temp light issue appears to be a cleanliness issue. As resin builds (even light amounts that are barely or not at all visible), soaking the mouthpiece in ISO is not enough. It needs to be thoroughly cleaned/scrubbed.

I've tested this... I've cleaned my Pax the same way everyone does and still had the temp light issue if I don't scrub the mouthpiece. If I then thoroughly clean the mouthpiece stem with ISO and steel wool, the issue is resolved until it gets dirty again.

I encourage others to do the same test:
  • When you have the temp light issue, clean your Pax as usual, which I assume includes soaking the mouthpiece in ISO
  • After cleaning, see if the temp light issue still exists or if it comes back quickly
  • Then clean the mouthpiece stem with ISO and steel wool, making sure to thoroughly scrub in all the grooves, including the upper part of the stem that moves
  • Now see if the issue is gone
One thing to be careful of is that the small magnet in the mouthpiece will attract pieces from the steel wool when you clean. Make sure you remove any of this before usage.
Good luck!
