Hi guys, I've had my SSV for a few months now and LOVE it to death. I've been lurking here every once in a while but never felt the need to sign up. I saw mendoheads DIY mod and was wondering if the power cable is a weak point on the SSV? I always wrap my cable around the ssv and pack it away after every session but I don't want to risk damaging it.

Welcome to the forum or jungle...You might have missed it but in one of his posts he said when he opened it it was quite secure and he didn't real need to do it.

Take the base off and look inside the ssv. you can see the power cord on the inside of the unit, and there's some putty or something thats hard (some sort of sealer i guess) as a rock holding it it place. i can see if the sealer got loose or cracked, then there may be problems, though the stuff is hard.

But, i still did the mod beacause i dont want to take a chance of my ssv having any problems just from me moving it around.

I feel (IMO) like unless you are wrapping it too tight to bend it where it comes out of the housing it should be fine. The ssv has a very thick durable cord, compared to my other vapes at least.

While the cable on any device is a weak link, the SSV cable is very secure.
My SSV has been in one room for a year, but prior to that it got moved about and used all day every day in a variety of locations... for 2 years.
The cable has had no problems with stress or overwork, from this activity.

i would just be pissed though if it somehow got messed up by my dumbass moving it around. i feel like i have averted a potential 'long shot' problem...

Imo You can never be too careful with your SSV, I know when my power went out I was dying to be able to use my surfer again. Not an experience I want to repeat anytime soon. All my others vapes work, but its just not the same

i dont remember if i posted this here or not, but i recently got a Mendo Mulcher 2" vape grinder which was a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to the cheap $5 wood grinder i had. I dont think its a placebo effect when i say the high is better..

Conjecture.......Maybe a finer grind is exposing more trichomes to be vaporized at once causing a more intense peak.....

I've had my ssv for a few weeks now and I'm really impressed by it. The one issue I am having however is that sometimes it's too harsh on my throat, and it can hurt for 10-15 minutes after using it sometimes. I can keep this under control by taking smaller hits. Is there a good way to cool down the vapor before inhaling it?

Anyone have the 6-Arm percolator water filter?
http://silversurfervap.com/glass/wcfm/water-filter-cooler-moisturizer-93-straight-6-percolator.html

Recently got an SSV and I love the thing - I wanna upgrade into water filtration, but I'm not sure if I should go for the water filter linked above or just get a water pipe adapter and pick up one of those 8-inch SSFG Travel Tube (http://ssfgglass.com/shop/product.php?id_product=13) and hook up the SSV to that. I've been kinda itching for a mini bong lately anyway, so if you guys think the SSFG would deliver as smooth and big / thick hits as the water filter, I'll probably have to go for that.

Although I do remember reading from someone on here who claimed the 6-arm perc hit better than his 12-inch bong when hooked up to the SSV, so I've really got no idea what to do....

Opinions from the pros?!

I've got one of those 6-arm filters, they are very nice.

The overall volume is very small, I found that with an average SSV draw speed, you can only have the water level up to the slits in the tree, any higher and you'll get water splashing into the Sherlock arm.

The entire bundle is an awesome deal IMO.
You get the Sherlock arm, WPA, keck clip & some hose, which all separately would cost almost half the bundle cost, and the 6 arm itself is pretty nice and certainly worth the money IMO.

Having said that, I find it a bit too small for my tastes, so I'd probably go with the SSFG travel beaker (definitely upgrade the downstream to the showerhead) out of those 2 options :)

Here's an update ! Last week I was starting to worry since I haven't been notified of when my order got shipped. Today I just received the mail ticket and my package will be available in two hours at the post office! I just couldn't have asked for a better ending than to receive my SSV for Christmas. For future Canadian customers, I would add that the order shipped on December 11th and arrived home today. So count around 9 business days via USPS Priority.

Now let's get to real business. What do you guys recommend as a good starting temperature setting? Any things I should be more careful about? Just looking for some quick tips here. I really can't wait to get my hands on the SSV!

I will definitely update with pictures later on ! Happy Christmas to everyone
