The light is supposed to "pulse" as it is running, the Temp light and the green light won't pulse.

Edit: Really, jamband? My green light pulses just like all the other lights. Interesting. I wonder if that is a design change.

Yes, my green light pulses as well.

So does mine. Sorry to break the bad news, jam, but this means you'd better ship your Pax to me for testing to be sure it's safe for you to continue using. Hurry, it might already be too late. Don't forget to include a supply of testing material. Hang on, I'll get you through this.

Good news! Let everything soak for about 1.5 hours in 91% ISO and it now seems to be working like a champ (unpacked at least). No more air flow around the light, and the dental pick brushes really helped get rid of the temperature issue. I guess this is like an antique car, it works great, but you need to keep it maintained or it gets bitchy :)

Will try and talk to some folks about getting something to fill it with and report back. I may even try some ABV just to see if it does the same thing it was doing.

As for the lubricant... does anyone know where pax HQ puts it? Is it around the spring? On the little slidy part on the mouthpiece? The very tip of the stem on the mouthpiece?

No, I just got that part wrong, my bad, I wasn't staring at a ready to use pax when I posted. My green full charge light is solid, but the heating light is pulsing.

Hey guys, I'm finally back :-).

So here is my story. Everything went splendid with the Pax. Took an international trip to Aruba :-). I cleaned the Pax thoroughly, using Coarse Steel wool for the oven / screen, soaking the mouthpiece, and using pipe cleaners for the tube. I used alcohol pads for the magnetic cover and used paper towels to clean and dry it. Made it there no problem. The medicine down there is moist and was kinda difficult to use, but it worked out. VERY EXPENSIVE. I'm pretty sure I paid $120 for 4 grams. I didn't have a scale. One time I was able to get a deal for $85 for 4 grams but still. But medicinal needs are necessity. And the Pax (in my opinion) needs a bit to operate best. I did use light loads at times, and it worked definitely.

Coming back, I soaked the mouthpiece for 30 minutes, same steel wool for the oven / screen, and pipe cleaners for tube. I also brought down the Vape Mini-Tool, and a plastic grinder from got vape. I soaked those in rubbing alcohol too (70%). I also had a pack of Borkum Riff in there as a ploy that I didn't even open, LMFAO.

I opened my suitcase back home, and everything was there :-).

The Pax is amazing. It worked extremely well in the tropical climate. I didn't need to clean it as often as I thought I would. The clean before the trip allowed it to work pretty well for most of my trip. Every once in a while it would get stuck a little bit, and then I'd clean that tube area and it worked.

Thanks for sharing this! I am doing some flying this Christmas and I was worried that my PAX would be confiscated by the airline. Did you keep it in your checked bag or carry on??

Got my Pax today and thats pretty awesome, then I noticed a smell from the cooking chamber. It smells like tuna??? I did a burn 10 minute off on high before using and I have cleaned it. I don't smell anything when the chamber is empty and set to high. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this??? By the way, I ordered this off Ebay and the listing was labeled as new, but at this point im questioning that very much so. May just be time for a return.

I have been using the same herbal blend with my EQ and it doesn't smell anything close to tuna nor does the dry material.

No problem. I was very nervous but it turned out to be no problem whatsoever. Just clean it as best you can. It won't even smell :-).

I put it in my Checked in luggage and I separated the mouthpiece from the unit so they wouldn't be able to activate it unless they found both pieces and knew what to do :-).

Imagine a TSA worker goes 'Hey, its a Pax without the mouthpiece. Where is the mouthpiece sir?'

Hahaha, that would be awesome. But they would have to call me off the plane, it was the checked baggage LOL :-). But it was also clean :-). It was no problem. :-).

Hi all,

I have finally decided to go combustion free, and I figured I would start it off right and go for the gold. I just ordered my purple Pax today, and I am beyond excited!

I do have a question, how often do you recommend cleaning? I did read through this thread, but forgive me 243 pages was a lot to cover so I am sure I missed this somewhere. I will be a daily user, probably 2 sessions a day, sometimes more.

Thanks all!

Great choice on the color. :)

I would clean it every 3 days if I wasnt so tired after working. I clean it every weekend, once a week. If you are truly lazy, or dont have ANY time to yourself, then blow into your mouthpiece before each use from the metal side and scrape the edges of your oven every couple of days to make sure you get good clouds and not 10x baked buildup.

I tend to be the type who heats it up, takes two puffs, and then puts my pax away. So I usually give it a thurough cleaning after every bowl pack. You will want to get isopropyl, pipe cleaners, and dental picks for cleaning. In your case if you're doing a full session and emptying the bowl, id say clean it every other day maybe? That could be a bit much.

Sad but LOL. I think im just going to return it. I cant bear to use it again with that smell. :disgust:

Its odd you say that because I had someone tell me it reeks really bad with that doo-doo looking face. I smelled something when I first started using it also, but nothing in recent memory. Anyone else smell anything odd? All I can smell is finely ground high grade these days. :)

I've had my Pax on the nightstand next to my bed and noticed the oven "reeking" in a not so pleasant way after I had run it a couple of times and the load inside was toasted. I am sure that was what I was smelling was the ABV in the oven because I put my nose up to it to see if that was the smell. It wasn't "tuna" but it did have a funk to it that most noses might not be able to pinpoint for description purposes. I imagine your bud strain/smell will determine what odors linger. I did not smell that "funk" when I was using a piney sativa that didn't have a funky smell to it. This blackberry kush sure has some funk though. Maybe the previous owner was running some skunky bud through it. Hard to say if you bought it from Ebay. I don't think it would be the pax itself, based on the lack of reports of bad pax odors.

It doesn't seem to be the Pax. I've been running it on high for about 20 minutes with an empty oven and there is no stink. It's just odd to see such a difference in smell from one vape to another.

When my friend smelled the odor it was during use. I think you might be right with the different bud strains and when they burn the odor they produce, along with the abv caked inside burning yet again.

Hey guys just a question about the pax.. I see most people are using the high setting, which I am too. To be honest I'm not getting that high off of this, has anybody done anything to the screen? Have you poked holes or made a new one, i know they made the screen a certain way for this pax, and i find it really hard to pull through. I've seen videos of people getting some decent clouds of this thing and like I'm not getting those results, maybe if I packed the oven full I would, but then i feel like i'm wasting weed i thought this would save me weed to be honest.

You are pulling too hard.

If you want to know more try reading the thread or even just searching it for "hard pull".

I've read quite a bit of the thread, but man there's about 243 pages, that's a little much just to learn how to use this device properly. I've tried slow pulls too, but how long should they be, mind explaining?

Think less in terms of being able to freely pull, and think more like a really tightly rolled joint. You have to pull slow and steady.

Also, if you're concerned about saving bud, make sure you start on the low setting first, and stir occasionally. Once you get nothing out of that, then move up to medium and repeat, then move up to high.

I know it's 243 pages, that's why I said search for "hard pull". This is explained in detail in several posts.

Basically, if you feel resistance you're pulling too hard. It's by design and messing with the screen is not a solution. How long you should pull is up to you.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
I tell myself I am in a competition for the longest and slowest inhale..

Another way to check and see if you are doing it right is exhale shortly through your nose as you are inhaling.. I have found that I can check myself and make sure that I am doing it right.
