my gpen arrived today. 100% satisfied as I knew I would be (with glass tank - to repeat my self I will NOT be using wick carts, EVER)

Rips fatty, loads easy, really no complaints yet. I know its not perfect, but its already made me way happier than my thermovape ever has (ive ripped an omicron, and it was OK at best. I am not sure exactly what type of concentrate was in it, though, so I'll at least give it that)

But anyone who is interested in a cheap, stealth alternative to dabbing id say this is definitely it.. I got two whole units (battery, tank, mouthpiece) 2 chargers, a carrying case and extra tank for like $122 so pretty much $50 per whole unit

A few things:

I have the new microg. While some have said it is just a rebranded Ovale Eclipse I don't think that is the case - but can anybody confirm? The body and battery 100% are, but the element is more an exposed heating filament wrapped around a wick in a (possible ceramic?) cup that that you add your dab to. I believe the Eclipse is more a spike that insets into a fluid bottle. There are alignments for this bottle, I believe, so it could just be they tore the spike off to expose the element. Either way, I get some big rips off it and he filament seems robust enough to last repeated use. We will see.

I also have the new gpen glass tank. I have some issues with it. Seems I add a dab to the nail, get a rip, then it all melts to the bottom of the tank and I just get some slight vapor. Is there actually a bottom heating element in the tank in addition to on the nail? Someone said that, but I don't see it. I had the original plastic tank, and it died after two uses. I have the new updated original tank in glass, but haven't used it. I find those original style tanks odd because it seems the wick just saturates to the bottom and never never gets the oil pulled from the wick.

Just my experiences so far.

I also have the microg. I took a lighter to the side of the cartridge and tried to melt the oil off the walls...until I realized I was pulling the plastic off. So I need new cartridges, I THINK it is the elips atomizer, low resistance, with the metal spike pulled off. Need to replace that cartridge, and buy more, not available for sale yet, thinking about buying a few just to try. Feel it gets too hot, may try to buy a regular elips atomizer too. There is a video showing a cloud pen, and this, they really appear to the same product....would be a lot easier if they tweaked the cartridge and made more available for sale.

Is the Gpen micro good for brick brown hash? I see there's a unit called the Cloud which is liek half the price. Thoughts?

i know everyone hates these tanks that have wicks in them so...... how does the 710 pen (http://www.710pen.com) that uses a "funnel" in it's cart and no wicks (that i can see) compare to the G-Pen??

The 710 pen mini does sound interesting. Love to know if it's good with hash.

I asked grenco back in march and they dont recommend it (atleast for the normal g pen so I don't think it would work with the micro g)

Very much appreciated. Researching the 710 Pen mini now to see if it might be more capable in that regard.

The only difference I can tell between the g pen and the 710 mini is that the 710 has a funnel above the heating coil (wich is in the middle). The g pen and the 710 are really just reworked e cig technology and were made for e cig liquid so they have a long wick running trough the sides to vape the e cig liquid. But if you try to put your concentrates on the sides where the wick is it will not vaporize it(trust me I tried lol, and wasted oil). So the 710 guys put a funnel on top so it lands directly in the middle and not on the sides so you do not waste oil like me lolz

unless it fully melts... i don't THINK any pen vape will work. Thermovape's Cera will do loose leaf herbs and plant matters (bubble hash, Keif) that do NOT fully melt but that is surely not "pen sized"

^yup you can only use these g pens/cloud vapez/trippy sticks/710 pens with full melts

the only real question i have about the 710 pen is..... i am short on cash right now so i cant afford a new pen system. i already own an EGO-C upgraded battery pass through (this battery has two modes, regulated 3.7v and unregulated which is 4.1v depending on battery charge), could i buy a 710 cart and thread it on my EGO -C (it is 510 threaded) and would it work?? are there any real differences between the 710 pen bettery and the EGO-C??

It should work, I only used a g pen battery before but those work with many different carts. I think it was 3.7. But I'm pretty new to diffrent voltages tho....

You should shop around because there are a lot of carts that fit, the lowest priced one I seen was the g tank for $20 and it hits almost as good as the micro g. I tried the glass tank and it was alright but it broke and its expensive. ($50)

but don't the g tanks have wicks in them?? from all the videos i watched.... the general consensus was wicks are bad and waste your oil.

A lot of these e cigs type vapes have wicks

710 cart:

The 710 cart is just a small wick only in the middle

P.S. if want your cart to last make sure the wick is always hydrated or it will burn out
(No test runs,dry runs etc.)

One of my micro g tanks lasted less than 24 hours becuase I put the oil above the wick ( on the outer top edge of the bowl) and I kept pressing the button, letting the heat from below melt the oil down to the wick and it burned out.

ok so i am confused. i was under the impression when we spoke of "wicks" we were talking about little pieces of fiber (or rope like) inside a cart and the metal part (like what is pointed to in the picture above) was called a coil. i was under the impression wicks were bad cause they wasted oil cause they had to be saturated with oil to produce vapor

In general, wicks go through the center of the coil and extend into the load. They bring hot concentrate to the heater much like a candle wick delivers melted wax to the flame.

sooooooooooooooo confused!!!

It's not all that complex. Look carefully at the photo above and you can see the center part of the wick inside the coil in the center. If this was an Omicron cart, the 'tails' would be half an inch or so long and extend through the seals into the oil reservoir. It it's an e-cig tank, they might be an inch and a half and extend into the tank. If it's an e-cig cartomizer long ends would b folded up the walls and cotton (or other) batting added to soak up the juice like a Zippo lighter.

In practice it works like an oil lamp wick.
