I put a tiny drop of coconut oil on the end of my mp tube, and inserted it into the pax, and gave it a few presses. It has been running smoothly, and I barely used enough to see it shine on the end of the tube. I didn't notice any change of flavor from the coconut oil, and i will say, try at your own risk... I don't know what the long term use will do. I don't reclaim from the pax.

Quick question:
Can the Pax be used right out of the box or does it need to be run empty a few times for burn off?

You will want to burn it empty for about 5-10 minutes to burn off any matter. I forgot to do that at all, though, and vaped it right away and it didn't seem to harm me. The dude still abides. Still, be on the safe side...

A friend just received one of these units a couple days back and I got to give it a go today.
I must say, I like, I like a lot. Airflow a little restricted to what I'm use to but could get use to it. The taste is very nice and sweet without feeling much heat. Cloud size was good with device set to high.
Definitely added to my wish list.

Will do, thanks. Kids hurt makes me cringe. What a crazy world we inhabit. Such sadness such waste. Took pax for a drive today, drum tobacco thins out fast in pax, but there's lots left after taste was gone, no vapor output on exhale... Was good for topping up during kids Chrissy show.. I was being silly last night and popped a drop of eliquid on my tobacco in the oven. Smack in centre of load one ever so small drop so it does not touch oven wall... Drum tobacco and drumbeat juice flavor from juice whore store in aus. Big billowing clouds and a nicotine rush like I was hiding a smoke in school toilet... Took me back indeed. When the taste went I popped oven open to see load still has a round left so I added another drop. The E liq is flavor only.. Or else one can get nicotine poisoning... Try that cigarette... Ha. Cleaned out oven and it looks new still, I clean pax lots, love her, she thanks me with good rips on low and long lasting taste. Mj needs no kicker eliquid so pure so right. Now I'm off making my convection vape, thin kanthal wire and high ohm to allow low current. I will make my heat core rebuild able. Thin wire don't last but might simulate the cigarette effect, suck and be smacked in seconds with nice vape. Than the load will not roast till its hit. Hope I have success. Has any one removed the hex screw at back under ploom logo to see inside? I'm getting another pax so I can charge one whilst I vape the other, them batt too short run time for heavy vaping that I do... Will return to edit and add to this after I build that bitch up.

I'm back, built it up. I use ego changeable atomizer and reworked inner atomizer head that had burnt out. Tried it on 4.8 volts and she smoked... Oops. Tried at 3.8v and it vapes. It's a 2.8ohm coil. Loading up pax for a trial of the insert foil trick lets see.

Before I get onto pax, remade the convective vape coil ended up at 3.3ohm. Works good, need to make mouth piece now. Rest of this can be followed on the DIY thread where it belongs. Sorry y'all for tracking off.. It's not happening again.

Back to pax.... Just finished dinner and pax is now a warming up. Green, it's fast. I'm on low setting with a oven packed till bursting point, in fact had to tamp down the cover lots :0. I'm making the room blue! On low. My wife started to bust my chop... Tha smell :o I've lost count on hit rate it's over15 now. Still big vape cloud. I'm holding till I cannot. Pax nails the mark... Supremely.

I've always smoked heavy cigarettes so I've always mixed in the joint; made big trumpets for over 20 years. So I loaded that oven like it was going into a joint. The point is it has saved me from ever running out, and now like this in pax on low!! Yea I cannot believe it but that's so. I have saved 35 bucks a week on my tobacco and feel better free of smoke. Now it thins out but I had another 10 pulls. Still on low, now I suck really slow. Very thin cloud now, going to medium after 4 more goes...medium putting out more now; taste just left the building. Clouds return now... I watch more mythbusters and vape till it ends, throat hits walked back in too. Pax is the best for its size is just perfect too, great looks to boot :) right I'm back episode ended... Medium now has zero output. Will look into oven. Ok still looks like some left! I stirred and packed it. Medium is all out.was on high, got 10 pulls, had a little nap. It's running low on vapor and battery. This was my third session tho. So pax is right. It's like an electric joint or cigarette using good old leaf, pure. More healthy now and more effective too. Now I rest. Goodnight and pax on....

Lol sounds like me Jamband!! I would reach for the coconut oil for anything. But its oil, and I know it doesnt work with everything(theres speculation that it may not work with latex) so I can not say how it will affect parts like those made from petrol-plastic. Hope it works fine! csause that would be much better then some chemical lubricant(I would imagine what BittenBagel got was a silicone based lube)

So I haven't been on the thread latelyso I do not know if you Paxers have covered this but 4 days ago I finally got my Pax shipped out after alot of procrastination and it arrived at Ploom HQ yesterday(Which is pretty fast having that I'm on the east coast). I received a email from my Ploom chat support guy telling me that they have fixed my issue(which is when the mouthpiece is attached, some pressure on a certain side will make it think that the mouthpiece is not attached(off) and wont warm up aka yellow, orange, red light). He told ume they fixed the issue by applying "on the mouthpiece stem we have used a small amount of food-grade lubricant to replicate original factory conditions. No need to do anything to clean this off, as it is ready for use (feel free to sanitize the black, plastic part as desired)."

Then I asked, "Thank you! Hopefully that clears up the issue. But what happens when I clean my pax? Will it completely rub of all the lube and return me back to my original problem?" and replied, "Thanks for the follow up. We're currently working on a new cleaning kit that will contain specialized lubricant packets. If you would like, I can sign you up for the delivery list of said kit?"

And of course I said I would like a shipment for free. So just a little heads up for something new Ploom will be offering for DIY fixes for this certain Pax issue *If it resolves my issue". Vape On

So I received my Pax back and the food lube seems to be working for the problem I had. Though it is a little messy. When I first took out the reclined mouthpiece there was some lube around near the metal connection points where you dock and charge it. I hope that the lube wont have any effect on the charging aspect of it because I'm not sure if any got in it or not. There was also a bit of lube hanging around near the temp button. So for now, this is working but now my goal is not to touch the lube crap when I pull out my mouthpiece which is going to be on more thing to watch out for. And I also need to be careful where I place the mouthpiece because you don't want any dust or other miscellaneous things to get stuck on the lubed up part.

Here is a picture of where they lubed it up (mainly the metal piece that moves)
2E6C8C66-FBDF-48B2-A6D7-C72685B9BD2D-2939-000005FD48759BA4.jpg

So I used my Pax right out of the box after I wiped off some of the lube from the inside area were the mouth piece goes. I turn it on and my friend notices a sizzling/boiling sound. So I check it out and realize that it must be the lube heating up. I didnt want to bother to explain it to him so we went on and vaped it up. Then when the pack got to be about finished and not so tasty i noticed a faint faint bitter taste on my tongue which I never tasted on a beat pack before this lube stuff. Usually I tasted a beat light light sweetness. I emailed my costumer service dude for the heads up(did mention the light light light bitterness) and told me, "No need to worry of the PG, it will not cause harm to inhale." Not saying this is a this is a bad thing at all just something I noticed. Note I only noticed this while having my tongue in from of the mouthpiece air way. And what is PG? Im guessing the lube?

I just posted a full description of my "Pax Pac" a few pages ago. I don't refill while driving, but I do often Pax while driving. If I need to refill, I just pull over, tamp into my hand and release out the window and refill from my Pax Pac and off I go.

Here's my setup:

Oh man, I totally looked over your post because I did not see until now. That's exactly what I was looking for, but I have a suggestion: instead of the glass jars with the corks, I use the little travel sized pill containers. There are different sizes, the name brand Dramamine ones don't work to well for holding a lot, but the Advil ones are PERFECT, it keeps it fresh and hold up to 2.5 g of grinded material. There are also generic ones at drug stores such as Cvs that are slightly different shaped and can hold even more. They sell them by the counter and at a lot of convenience stores. I know I'm not the only person to think of this. But yeah that's tight, I pretty much have the same one already, are those the zen brand pipe cleaners?

So, you vape tobacco with pax? I've been wondering how that would work out. Do you grind the tobacco or just pack it in as is?

It is a vaporizer. Vaporizers can "vape" anything. Now if you go into technicalities then it is a here and a there. But I think it is pretty much universal: all vaporizers are made with the idea that it is a smoking cessation device, thus not smoking cigarettes because you now supplement with a vaporizer.

Anyone have any trouble flying with their PAX?
actually had a similar problem when i first got mine. i thought i was broken or something:lol:
i noticed after the first time i cleaned it really well, it 'worked.' so from then on, my theory with the pax is even if youre getting vapor production and seeing clouds, it might be too clogged to let the 'needed' amount of vapor in your lungs. so try giving it a good cleaning, see if that does anything for you.

this is just my opinion, it could have been a considence, i might be totally 100% wrong but it worked for me.

OK, so trickfire wanted to show another version of a "pax pack" (as thedudenextdoor dubbed it). This is all of it in a vatra coffin case. It is heavily padded and can be bought at a local smoke shop or online. What will end up working just as well for most people is a case that came with a good pair of sunglasses (trickfire used to use a maui jim one). Please note that this particular case is slightly bigger then the vatra capsule that is use daily. Trickfire wanted to show this as it is the setup used for travel.

image_zpsd8d1745f.jpg

Here is everything out of the coffin case:
1 or 2 travel sized pill containers preferably the advil brand ones. They hold up to 2.5g of dried, shredded material (whatever type of herbs that you have a similar consitency to dry tobacco). Use a velvet-like bag to put the pax in for protection from scratches being the body of the pax is aluminum (highly recommend but not necessary). Also as a rule of thumb always contain alcohol wipes for cleaning, obviously if you already own a pax you should already know this.

image_zps8738be7f.jpg

There is a tube like container that is about the size of the pax itself with these items inside that are for cleaning which will most likely be needed: Tweezers, pipe cleaners, paper clips, (the best all around tool), some form of a razor blade (one such as out of a carving set), and last but not least the little brush that comes with the mflb, or any tiny paint brush. Some people also swear by q-tips, which are also handy but it all comes down to preference.
image_zpsb31925cf.jpg

OK the one on the left is the vatra coffin and the one on the right is the vatra capsule that is used much more often and is also padded with elastic straps on the inside to hold all of the items in place. The outer body is very hard, honestly would trust dropping it with the pax in it from a 2 story. But feel free to share any suggestions about variations to this setup. Hope this helps somebody at least!

image_zps56847a95.jpg

image_zpsf8541cf8.jpg

And here are some items that can also be used: Revlon brand tweezers which are very helpful because these particular ones have an led light in the middle which makes filling the pax in dimmer light. The 2 bags are just examples of some that can be used to put the pax in or to organize other items. The 2 little black containers are good for storage especially different type of matter eg. solids, waxes, powders (you can find these at a camping store or you can use a pill fob). Another universally good tool is a safety clip.

PG is propylene glycol which is widely used in ecigs and many other applications including asthma inhalers. I have some on hand so I will experiment with my next Pax cleaning.

been a while since I've been one, this thread was only 20 or so pages long last time I posted so needless to say I don't have the time to read through 180 pages. maybe someone can point me in the right direction if it's already been covered:

the first cleaning of the pax was np, the second cleaning however has left a nasty taste in the unit, I think it's iso that got down into the outer part of the metal tube in the unit. anyone have suggestions on how to clean this thing properly? I know a lot of you have the same problem with me with resin build up around the mouth piece tube and then it getting resin on the outside of the tube in the unit. it's frustrating and the answer isn't immediately apparent to me, any ideas or share what you do to clean your pax in that "problem" area

suhbliem,
Finally dropped my Pax for the first time today, with a brand-spanking new, fully packed oven of course. It was a cushioned landing, so no damage to the Pax whatsoever, but the oven lid flew off and scattered my green everywhere after I gotten only one starter hit. Why is it if you're going to drop your Pax, it will always happen at the very beginning of the session rather than at the end?

pax can indeed take a good beating. i posted in this thread, idk maybe a couple hundred pages back, about me dropping it behind a wall. i eventually got it out, and it was in perfect condition after the 7 foot drop.

I've had my Pax apart, and it doesn't look like a delicate device to me. You might ruin the sleek looks of your Pax but you probably won't break it by dropping it, unless you're a couple of stories up or something. I've dropped my Pax three times, and the oven has popped open and spilled the load every time.
