I'm now the extremely proud owner of a Wychwood special, in black palmira :love:Stunning piece of kit!! Will post some photos later.

Haven't been able to try it yet, as I just arrived back in my home country and don't have any greens yet.

Question for those who have experience with the various stem options. I'm ordering a GonG stem to go with my Wychwood, and I'm wondering if its worth getting the All Glass Tube as well? I understand the GonG stem can be used for direct draw. Does it hit any differently than the All Glass Tube?

I'm looking forward to your photos, bleak. This will probably be the best photoshoot of the WW to date as I've seen a lot of your work and it's excellent.

Thanks a lot Stu!! Glad you like my work :) I do take my photography very seriously (its my profession), thats why I can't bring myself to post a quick and dirty photo, I'd rather spend some time and do a proper shoot to really show this thing off!

I have both the GonG and the all glass tube. I find the GonG itself gets a bit hot for direct draw, but only when vaping a few hits back to back. The vapor, on the other hand, could also be a bit hot for some straight through the GonG, so I only use it with my bubbler and the cigar tube. I would say go for the tube, I really like mine. I like to fill it with approx .02 and from that I get a really satisfying cloud or two.. but that's more down to the WW's general efficiency as opposed to the tube itself. The taste is really good, the vapor is smooth and it's cooled down substantially thanks to the distance it travels. The only thing is, at first I found it so smooth that I accidentally took larger hits than intended, but I learned to watch the vapor being pulled through the tube as a guide. Excuse my rambling.. I've been using my WW :)

I was wondering why you still hadn't shown off your price yet Bleak, must be quite a culture shock to be back aye? Are you home permanently or at least for now, or are you just 'visiting'?

Just a tip, but the mouthpiece that comes with the GonG stem makes a pretty good temporary mouthpiece for a take-down bubbler when combined with a male to male adapter, if you ever happen to need one :p

hi Wonderfox, thanks for the valuable info! I've decided to get both the GonG and the Tube stems, then all my bases are covered.

Another WW-noob question: What are you guys using to 'buff' your WW after applying the wax? Just any piece of cloth will do?

@OhTheAgony - Its a permanent move (at least, I have no plans to move back to EU, but who knows what the future holds?)

Hi JRR Tokin,

I have posted a long question on your website but have had no answer from you so it seems you use this forum more than your own site!!
I'll copy and paste that post on here now and maybe you or some other FC-ers can answer my questions as I really know nothing about log vapes.
Cheers all, sorry for the newbie questions.

I switched from smoking to Vaping almost 2 years ago now and used a VG to get me off combusting, then bought a MFLB which I’ve used every day ever since.
I am now looking to up-grade again and I recently went to
Amsterdam and got to try the Volcano and Verdamper which were great (but not suited to my needs or price range)!
I thought I’d narrowed my choice down to either the Extreme Q, Herbalaire or Silver surfer/Da budda but then I came across your vape!

Having read the whole of the thread for the Wychwood on FC I thought I’d get your opinion if you don’t mind so here are my needs:
-Efficiency is very important and I’ve loved the MFLB for that.
-Ability to get BIG hits when I want them which helps me to convert my smoking mates.
-Fairly discreet (the verdamper is just too big to stash at the back of my sofa!)
-Very little smell emitted.

I’ve never really looked at log vapes So what I need to know is the following:
-Does it have a temp control? I get the absolute most out of my herbs and can (eventually) get it to a VERY dark brown dust on my MFLB. Will this be possible without risk of combustion?
-Is it ok the only turn it on when needed. I read a lot of people leave it on 24/7 but I couldn’t do that and would only turn it on as and when I wanted to use it.
-I sometimes use my water pipe with a 14mm attachment, would I need to buy extra parts for this and what other methods of draw are there (I assume bags aren’t possible but thats not a need for me).
-Is it an easy vape to teach to newbies? I have found some trouble convincing people when trying to get them on the VG or MFLB. I’m a massive preacher of vaping and have so far got 4 other people to get a MFLB (wish I got commission!)
-Can it be fully cleaned to take abroad on flights?
-Do you need to stir/shake it up after every couple of hits?
-I also read that you are doing a re-design of it. Would it be best if I waited for that one?
-Is the temp controlled by draw speed?

Hey Simo,

welcome to FC, I'm sorry no one got here sooner.

Let me see if I can help you with some of those questions perhaps.

-Temp control is soled separately at you local hardware store (or cheaper on ebay) in the form of a variable voltage power supply.
-it's really hard to combust with a log-vape ime, I've never been able to do so myself anyway. Of course this will depend on how high you turn up your voltage and also perhaps on what kind of stem you are using, but it's not something I'd worry about if I were you.
-you can turn it on just before use if you want to, although some of the logs will develop some play in the fit of the parts from heating up and cooling down all the time. Not sure if that's the case with the WW or not so I'm leaving this one open to J.R.R. It'll take roughly ten to 30 minutes before it'll be at proper operating temp so you better turn it on in time if that's the way you want to use it. If you get a variable voltage power supply you could just turn it down to 9V in between bowls as well if you want to to keep it a bit more ready to go and shorten heat up time.
-The WW comes with a GonG bowl that fits in a 14mm female ground glass joint.
-I've never had a lot of success with my WW tbh. It's pretty easy to get vapor with it, but I found it hard to get the ABV the color I want to be with the WW I must admit. I blame this mostly to the stems it comes with though, & not to the vape itself. Not everyone seems to share that experience though, so I'll leave this one open too. I would say it's easy to use up to a certain point, for me it gets harder as the end of the bowl nears.
-I don't believe you can take it apart to clean (someone correct if I'm wrong please), but in essence the vape won't get real dirty unless you are a very messy user perhaps. You can swap the needed parts with ISO anyway, I'm just not sure if the screen could be pushed out for thorough cleaning too. Anyone?
-I'm a firm believer that stirring helps you get the most out of your herbs with almost any vape including this one, but the opinions on that seem to vary a bit.
-I have no idea where Cookie is at with his redisgned core at this moment, so I'll have to refer you to management for that one.
-yes, well, in the sense that drawspeed will effect the vaporizing temperature with most vapes anyway. The faster air moves the quicker it cools down, & the slower you let it move through your herbs the hotter it'll get. Up to a certain extend of course.

I hope this helps a bit, good luck with your research

Great tips OTA, ;)

I don't have extensive knowledge on all the stems Cookie provides, just the all glass tube but i can chime in on some questions too.

I find the WW, the most efficient among the ones i own, and i usually leave my ABV dark brown, and very even. If i use a low packed bowl, it is not as easy to leave it as dark though.
A good way to make sure to leave it dark brown is to use a little morocan hash.

Not as dark i would leave my MFLB though, but with the MFLB i would crumble the material almost to dust, which i don't do in the WW because the screen isn't as fine and i don't feel the need to anyway.

To use at any temperature you want, a VVPS is a good add-on to the log experience, although not mandatory or needed. Most of the times, it is enough to control the temperature by manipulating air flow and screen distance.

Thanks for getting back with some answers OTA. I've been up in London the last few days.

Hi JRR Tokin,

Really sorry about that but I didn't receive it. Maybe you posted in the comments section instead of the Contact Us form?

I'll copy and paste that post on here now and maybe you or some other FC-ers can answer my questions as I really know nothing about log vapes.
Cheers all, sorry for the newbie questions.

I switched from smoking to Vaping almost 2 years ago now and used a VG to get me off combusting, then bought a MFLB which I’ve used every day ever since.

-Ability to get BIG hits when I want them which helps me to convert my smoking mates.
-Fairly discreet (the verdamper is just too big to stash at the back of my sofa!)

I’ve never really looked at log vapes So what I need to know is the following:
-Does it have a temp control? I get the absolute most out of my herbs and can (eventually) get it to a VERY dark brown dust on my MFLB. Will this be possible without risk of combustion?
No temp control but the user can effect temp with packing, draw speed and grind consistency.
-Is it ok the only turn it on when needed. I read a lot of people leave it on 24/7 but I couldn’t do that and would only turn it on as and when I wanted to use it.
No worries there. It takes around 10-15 minutes to get to operating temperature, so just put it on before use. OTA is right about leaving it on idle at 9v then it takes a few minutes to get there.
-I sometimes use my water pipe with a 14mm attachment, would I need to buy extra parts for this and what other methods of draw are there (I assume bags aren’t possible but thats not a need for me)
I do sell a GonG bowl that fits directly into a 14mm joint. The basic stem that comes with the kit also fits into most 14mm joints too with the silicone making the seal. Other than that you can use the WW with 'direct inhale stem', 'whip' or if you get creative you can blow bags using the 'Lung' technique (please ask for more details if unsure)
-Is it an easy vape to teach to newbies? I have found some trouble convincing people when trying to get them on the VG or MFLB. I’m a massive preacher of vaping and have so far got 4 other people to get a MFLB (wish I got commission!)
Personally I think log vapes in general are very easy to use. A bit of technique is required to get the best out of them but I think even newbies to log vapes will get the most out first time round.
-Can it be fully cleaned to take abroad on flights?
As OTA stated it can't be disassembled but swabbing the metal with ISO and giving it a decent burn-in, unused, should do the trick.
-Do you need to stir/shake it up after every couple of hits?
Yes to avoid hotspots and encourage an even extraction.
-I also read that you are doing a re-design of it. Would it be best if I waited for that one?
That's totally up to you. I'm still in the R&D stage and won't be ready till some time next year. Also right now you can pick up a Basic WW with the Xmas discount for £105 or a Special for £120.
-Is the temp controlled by draw speed?
Please see the temp control answer above and if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask :)

Cheers guys,

Just tried out my new VVPS (Hazy's found it and OTA has recommended it to me, Thanks! ) with my WW, and i just got a nice dark bowl, cleared in on milky hit and 2 or 3 wispy ones at 13V.

It was just a small amount, so i am sold to the wonders of the VVPS for some diversity in the great world of log vaping. :D

Still using my made up gn0me stem though, my new stems are taking quite some time with the post. Hope they arrive in time for some Christmas vaping. :freak:

Cheers guys you've all been a real help. I think I'll bite the bullet and go ahead and get one especially with the xmas discount that is being offered!
I would also think it would be hard to get the bud as dark as I do with my MFLB. I actually use a pestle and mortar to grind it up to dust after a few hits but realise that I couldn't do this with a normal pipe screen on the Wychwood.
Anyway I've emailed cookie and am ready to order one, thanks again to OTA, Vorrange and cookie for your input and patience and for the record it was me commenting in the wrong place on the Wychwood website instead of contacting directly....my bad!!

You gotta dig the VVPS you got Vorrange, it really helps the WW deliver. I am running the same rig and find it to darken by stems substantially. 2-3 hits are solid and just what I need.

Hello there! Enjoying my night session with my Wychwood, and my new vvps. It has been my main setup lately, just enjoying some high temp vaping.

Hope everyone is having a happy christmas, and merry vaping christmas to all! :D

Cookie, thanks for the new set you're making me! I still have to answer the email officially, but Cookie has offered to make me a new set of stems i had ordered and got lost somewhere between here and there. Great costumer service as always,

It took me a while to get around to this, but I have some Wychwood porn for you all :)

Disappointingly, I still haven't put the Wychwood through its paces due to lack of herb connections in my new location. But once I sort that out, I'll make a video too. Here come the photos...
