Thanks for the info TheDude, i will order from Ploom then. Can they ship overnight? What does the new mouthpiece look like compared to the old one btw?

It looks mostly the same, but it work much better according to reports. The old mouthpieces apparently had some issues that the new opne resolves. I do know that even recently, someone bought a new Pax from the dealer and had problems, so they sent him a new mouthpiece that solved the problem. This is what really convinced me to just buy through Ploom directly.

I don't remember if they have next-day shipping, but I would be surprised if they didn't. I can tell you I ordered mine on a Tuesday (with the free shipping) and had it on Saturday.

Hands up everyone who has ever cleaned the spring and the area in which it resides and found lots of resin down there. If you have, I'd like to know how finely ground your material was and whether it was dry or damp.

Now, those of you with sticking mouthpieces: did you find the sticking resulted from resin build-up? If so, where exactly was it? Also, same questions about your material as above.

Thank you for participating in the continuing Education of Pakalolo.

Edited to rephrase the question about dry vs damp. I did not mean to imply that dry can't be sticky.

I think Ploom (ploom.com) ships free to Canada.

Thanks sooo much!!
I just checked it says that Canadians have to cover all Duties, Taxes, and Fees. Anyone know what that might be to ship to Edmonton, Alberta?? (I just don't want to spend like $40 bucks to ship, already going on a limb spending $250 on a means to smoke refer lol)
Has any Canadian friend ordered/found one anywhere else??

When I clean around the spring area I find that the chamber that holds the spring does not build much residue, but the spring itself can get very tacky. It can get tacky to the point where I can remove, place it on a piece of paper, and it will stick to the paper.

Oh yeah, my herb is very dry, but still sticky. I always load a full oven. I get as much as I can on low and then bump it to medium before I dump the load. I rarely ever use the high setting. My grind is a fine to medium mix. There's never any huge chunks, but it is not all finely ground or powdered either.

I notice small amounts of residue on the end of my air path tube after some use, and get the temp light often. I clean around the spring area with dental brushes but do not remove the spring. I use a med grind and usually pack a full load. My herb is usually pretty dry and not too sticky.

I don't remove the spring; however, I clean in that area with a Dentek teeth cleaner with ISO on it, and I do find that there is definitely resin on the Dentek. I use both dry and damp material, finely ground. It gets dirtier faster with stickier material, to the point that the temp light issue will happen in just a few ovens as opposed to the several days I can get with drier material.

As far as the MP sticking, with my first MP it started sticking within a week of my having it, even with diligent cleaning. I chatted with the peeps at VapeWorld, where I bought it, and they sent me a new one free of charge. My new MP doesn't stick unless my Pax is really gummy, but I clean it immediately once I feel the hint of it sticking.

i finally bought myself a cobalt pax for my birthday today!!! got home put it on the charger, took some dabs and what do you know, i see the green "x" . packed some finely ground SFV OG practically full after being packed. THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. i have owned the MFLB for several years and have been displeased by the batteries mostly and small hits. I just finished my first pax session and im instantly in love:love:.

Yes. Pop off your mouthpiece and look at the tube. Shake it and you'll see what's making the noise. That little circle of metal is part of the retraction mechanism.

I'm seriously considering picking one of these up. I have a Genie and an MFLB, as well as a Zap I rarely use due to long heat-up time and low temp. This looks like it could be my ideal device--portable, reliable, and down with spontaneity.

This is a long shot, but I'm going to swing by my LHS tomorrow to see if they stock them--my other half disapproves of me spending large chunks of money on things she considers non-essential, so ideally I'd pay cash. Otherwise, I suppose I can fill a pre-paid Visa or whatnot and order online.

New toys are the best.

i went to my smoke shop and they charged me around 315, but it was my birthday so i got 25% discount and it came out to be the normal price is costs.

Alrighty guys and girls.....it's been a bit now so I thought I'd share my review. Where do I start....The Pax vape has changed the way I thought about vaping. This thing works and works well. Im still perfecting the technique but I think I have it down. At first I was noticing too much heat but I think its all in the way you hit it. When I say too much heat I mean between two people after a hard session. Its becoming less and less though as I'm learning how to hit it. I think for me personally low takes too long to get me where I want. I start on medium then work to high. If I really need to be quick about it I can start on high for some strong hits, however medium will do the same. As far as conserving, I think the ONLY way that is going to happen is if I smoke the ABV. I tried some the other day and to be honest it wasnt bad. It was actually "smoother" than smoking green believe it or not. Taste was obviously not the best but screw it.... I'm figuring if I take advantage of the abv it will stretch me out alot longer. So.....in the morning I start out with a bowl of abv to kinda mellow me out. It doesnt get me super high or anything but does the job until I hit lunch later. Ahhh at lunch I sit back with the Pax and go at it on Med with a full oven. Then of course at night I'm at it again. I just want to keep my usage under a G per day and Ill consider this a success. Also at night after vaping Ill hit a bowl of ABV to put me where I want to be. That is the way I believe I will be able to cut spending. Although I appreciate the health benefits of vaping and the high....this was primarily a cost reduction experiment more than for health.

I really havent had issues with my pax, although I'm kinda upset that there are no replacement screens available currently. I rarely get the temp light sticking issue but when I do....I pull out! Thats right gentlemen....don't wiggle....pull out or turn upside down until it heats up enough. Works for me at least :)
I just got paxxed a bit ago and I'm finding the heat really to be a non issue. Suck slow my friend....suck slow ;)

I'm also finding no issue with missing the "body high" (can I say that?) associated with burnt cannibus. I still get exactly where I want to be....only I'm alot less lazy. lol

I had to come back to this post some hours after I started so it might not flow as well now. All in all, I'm a pax lover! I will however be getting a home unit for true conservation. Can anyone suggest anything? I would love better conservation but if it doesn't produce vapor and give me that "hit" then I don't want it.

Also, I made a really cool/ghetto bong with slit on the side to shove the end of my pax mp in. Works awesome and you get great hits. If I don't talk to everyone for a while have a Happy Holidays! Peace.

Johnathan,
You can get a pack of three replacement screens directly from Ploom for $10. Glad you like the Pax! I'm still loving it myself.

Just bought an amethyst Pax yesterday to replace my iolite wispr and I'm completely in love. This is the future, people!
I have a question: how long on average would you say a packed oven will last? Roughly how many hits? I'm never quite sure when it's done and I don't always want to keep popping the lid off to check!
Also, is the oven sealed enough to keep stuff in there a while?

ILoveCollege

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
Working on a smaller bong.. If I like it the bigger one might be up for sale.. Or hell, I might just give it away..

I just keep hitting it until it tastes bad. Some days I keep it on low, and that can last me the entire day.. sometimes two if I push it to med the next day. And when I am going to a friends house, I will pack the oven and let it be.. I am sure that you can leave it for a while.. I have left it for a couple days packed up.

Thanks dude. Was just readin the Vaporpedia article on the different effects at different temps. Do you find there are different effects from the various Pax settings or is it just a question of intensity?

This is for me. Low is a good clear head high. Medium makes me tingle and then high just puts me in a very very relaxed state.

ILoveCollege,
A while back I saw someone put a 15mm rubber boot on his pax and use it in a bong. Where can I find this rubber piece?
