Adventuring Through Time and Space
I've been reading like mad on these forums these past few days trying to decide which way to fuckcombustion, and I've narrowed it down to these two options. Honestly, I really like what I've read about both of them and will probably end up buying whichever one I don't order in the next few days later on down the line, so this post is primarily in regards to which one I should purchase first.

I burn recreationally, not medically, so I only use once, maybe twice a week. Usually blazing solo, though occasionally will smoke with friends.

So a few questions about both these units:

1) Smell. I had a cheap plug in vape from a LHS a few years ago and it made my apartment reek no matter what I did. I live in a house now and my roommates don't mind me blazing, but I'd rather not stink up the whole house (my room is fine however). It seems like the MFLB wins in this regard.

2) Taste. Despite my low tolerance, I smoke some pretty tasty and dank buds, and tasting the flavor of the herb is a very enjoyable and important part of the experience for me. Reviews have unanimously favored the Solo in this regard, but is the MFLB noticeably different?

3) Efficiency. As I said, I don't smoke a ton, and it doesn't take much to get me where I'd like to be, so unlike many posters, I'm not as concerned with max bowl size, but rather, the minimum size. The MFLB appears to be pretty flexible in its bowl size, whereas the Solo seems like it has to be packed fairly tight to work properly. I could be totally off base here, so I would really appreciate the input.

4) Glass. I love bongs and bubblers and spent a few hours checking out the glass section on here. Some really sexy pieces. It seems like the Solo is better with glass, but that MFLB adapter looks pretty nifty as well.

5) Group Sessions/ Ease of Use. I do smoke with friends occasionally, some of whom are pretty n00bish in the world of ganja. I'd like something that is pretty easy to use and won't cash the bowl too quick (in stark contradiction to number 3, lol). This is probably the least important feature though.

Thanks in advance! Love this forum and can't wait to start vaping!

I own both and IMO you are better off going with the Solo. i bought a MFLB first and used it but, never really got the hang of it until recently. On the other hand. I bought a Solo a few months later and it is the vape that got me to quit combusting. It's ease of use and ability to provide good satisfying vapor that a lot of smokers need to make the switch is what makes me give it my vote. On top of that I think the Solo more fits your personal criteria which is most important as there is no perfect vape for everyone.

Smell: I use my Solo in my room, and someone sitting outside my room during an extended vape session couldn't tell. The MFLB would be even less of an issue, but the Solo shouldn't be a problem in terms of smell.

Taste: After smoking, both of them will taste amazing. The stronger hits of the Solo give it a better taste though. After hitting my Solo, a combusting friend simply went "Wow, this tastes amazing".

Efficiency: If you want a smaller bowl for the solo, you can put a domed screen in the stem to reduce the bowl size. By default it will hold ~.2 ground up, although it will change depending on a bunch of variables. I've been super satisfied with it's efficiency.

Glass: Solo, hands down. Planetvape.ca for glass attachers. The default stem fits 14mm.

Group session/ease of use: The MFLB is terrible for noobs/groups. You need to use decent air technique to get a decent hit, and you can't set the temperature so someone can toast the bowl by accident. The Solo works well for groups.

Maybe it's because it still has that "new toy feel" but my only regret with the Solo is that I didn't one one sooner, it's awesome!

Solo hands down, in every apartment apart from stealthiness which is overrated IMO

i have both two mflb actully.. i wouldnt trade my solo for 5 mflb. and its nothing to do with knowing how to use them, i know well how they both work.. to me its just a silly comparison. and the pa adapter for the solo with an extension cord is great.

For quite a few portable buyers, stealth is the #1 consideration. And I assume you mean 'department'. ;)

Unless you need a walk around anywhere pocket vape, you'll be better off with the Solo.

What's silly about it? I'd much rather have the Magic Flight myself. I have almost zero interest in a portable that's not a pocket vape.

I meant department correct :)

Portable for me means, that I can take it wherever I want...however the usage in public when there are people around me ... is less attractive for me

I understand there are some who swear by the MFLB but I am not one of them... I actually replaced it with a one hitter because it was quicker, less smelly, and got me where I needed to be. While I do still combust, the solo I hold in very high regards... Cannot recommend it enough!

i guess it seems silly too me cuz the solo is so much more then a portable unit.
i honestly would rather smoke a j for protabillity then use the launch box....much nicer on my lungs and throat then the box.
mine will give of smoke\vapor from under the screen on the wood even when its empty and its not dirty i find this smoke\ vapor from the resin build up on the wood very harsh... and dont think i would want to use iso on the wood. so to me not only is the box infereior in every way to the solo... it pretty much is a disposable 160 unit with a limit life. sorry just my opinoin

Thanks again for all the replies!

Decided to go with the Solo and it arrived yesterday.

Taste great, and the smell stays in my room completely (though I have a feeling the majority of the smell is coming from the grinding of the herb, not the vaping).

Super easy to use and very efficient!

Given your priorities, I think you made a good choice. The primary advantage of the MFLB is its stealthiness. You can take it anywhere and get a good single hit off it, take the battery out and no one is the wiser. The solo is a little too bulky to be that stealthy. If youre out and about a lot and want a quick hit before, or even during, a movie the MFLB is the way to go. And MFLB's new WPA works with both the MFLB and the solo. Maybe even better with the solo IMO.

If you're looking to use the solo with a water device, get either a PlanetVape or Eds TnT stem, it will be a much better experience than trying to hold the Solo up to the foam ring on the MFLB Water adapter.

For me the choice is a no-brainer: Solo

It fits my needs for a portable unit because of the rechargeable battery and huge clouds you can get off it. As much as I hate taking glass with me around town, i'm not a fan of carrying 4-5 backup batteries to get me through the day.

I got my moneys worth from the MFLB but it it's not my preferred portable vaporizer.

are you talking about the old MFLB water adapter or the new one? The new one doesn't have a foam ring.
