ABV vs Fresh Herb Cannabutter

sydnee

Vaporus Majorus
I don't have enough ABV to make a batch of edibles, so I'm considering using fresh cannabis. My question is, what is the ratio of butter to fresh herb for making cannabutter? For example, the recipe I'm looking to make calls for 1 cup of cannabutter...how much bud do I need?

Thanks in advance!

Depending on the quality of the herb, i use anywhere from a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz of bud for a cup (2 sticks) of butter.

It really depends on Potency.
Are you using Chronic or some garbage?

If its good you can get away with a lot less. Like 1/8-1/4 oz for a cup of butter

Maybe a 1/4 at the lower end (personally) per cup of butter. At my tolerance it would be a waste to make less, but some people might be good at 1/8th that just seems really low to me since I usually hear people running a 1/2-3/4 zip into a cup.

We're here to fuck shit up.
My personal preference is 5 grams of fresh bud per stick of butter, roughly triple that for ABV.

Indica or Sativa make the best butter? BTW, my 'recipe' is 1 stick (1/4 lb) to 1 oz bud, plus water. But I have some a couple different styles and am hoping to get a little info before I get to it. I currently am having problems vaporizing and edibles seem imminent and I want to make the proper choices. Looking for, I guess, the most bang for the buck in terms of quantity. Although I would say if I smoke 1/2 oz/mo then I would probably eat about 1/2 oz of bud to 1/2 of 1/4 stick butter, plus water. If that makes sense. I'm frankly figuring the quality will be good in any event as the bud is VG+. Any input greatly appreciated.

I don't have enough ABV to make a batch of edibles, so I'm considering using fresh cannabis.

My personal experience is that I have found myself and others JUST as satisfied with my baking with abv as opposed to fresh herb. Therefore I will Always choose to vape all of my fresh herb Before using it in edibles, sure you use twice or even 3x the amount of abv, but this way you lengthen your time/use with the "special" ingredient in the long run.

That all being said, I've only successfully used abv butter once, I usually go with recipes requiring oil so that I can twist and cold infuse the oil for a couple days. My one success was recently for a friends Thanksgiving I made a batch of Get You Stuck Stuffing. Called for 1/2 stick of butter which I infused with 12g abv. Everyone was VeRy pleased with results including taste and pleasantness of experience. Most of the people that tried it were not Heads or Med users, but knew that it was "special" and still tried a little. I just got a random text only last week from a non-user Thanking again for bringing my contribution to the meal. Apparently it was That good of an experience!

Overall Sydnee, my 2cents are to wait with the fresh herb, vape it all and then Eventually make the edibles, unless for some reason your in a time crunch, in which case I can always bring some friends to help you Vape through your stash! ;)

you need to decarb the fresh bud, which in a sense is like turning it into ABV.

i would just run fresh herb into ABV and cook with that. this way you're getting stoned with a vape then turning around and making edibles. that's pretty much my cycle.

i prefer ABV over fresh herb any day. unless it's trim.

180 degrees for 10 minutes in an oven type thing you talking about?

yup, i normally just brown it a bit on my cast iron though, and that's normally not the best quality of greens

for dank i'll run it through a vape before i cook with it

if you wanted to cook with fresh dank, i'd probably stick it in the oven at 180-220 for the 10-15 mins instead of using the stove top, real easy to scorch it in the cast iron if you're not careful
