I've been reading through this thread and it's a pretty long read. The HI looks like such a great product and I am a fan of exotic woods. I was wondering, has there been an HI made in Desert Ironwood Burl? This is one of my favorite woods and have a few custom knives made with handle made from it. Amboyna Burl is another favorite of mine. So has there been or is there any chance of seeing an HI made from one of these two beautiful types of wood?

i backed it way down tonight and loved it. went to 12.3 and then 12.0 and got four plus hits off each bowl. so its like you said, the higher the temp the quicker you will run through the vapor. i prefer four lower hits to two higher hits any day, so I am going to keep going down and see how low i can go. what's the lowest anyone is using around here?

Thanks. No Desert Ironwood Burl yet. I just need a piece of wood that is 1.5" x 1.5" x 4" from which to make a HI. I'm always on the lookout for a nice piece of burl wood. Some have even sent me the wood to use for their HI.
There is a very good possibility that HI's will get made from both of those types of wood.

I prefer lower temps with sativas as the sativas I vape tend to be fruity or berry tasting. The lower temps taste better. For Indicas like most kush's,,I bump it up. By the way, right now I'm vaping Obama OG at 12.1.

Obama OG? I haven't heard of that. Is it any good? Is it from Kenya or the islands?

I guess down here in the slums of SoCal, it has yet surface.... at least at the few places left I have around here. Slim pickins in these parts nowadays.

Look,,,I'm tired of having to prove time and time again, that Obama OG is really grown in Cal. :\

But,,,too be serious which I hate to be while stoned which I always am,,,'Obama OG has a clear earthy kush taste'. Then again, so do a hundred other og's. I can't seem to help myself though. I'm a sucker.

Doing some lower temp vaping. Two pieces of glass. Around 11.5 volts. First two pulls on my largest piece... then finish it off with one or two more, off my smallest piece (which is the little SSFG bubbler). "Its goOOod!"

Excellent news. I know a few folks that I can get some really nice pieces of exotic from. Perhaps I can get one of these made from that gorgeous Desert Ironwood in the near future depending on your schedule after your move.

Deadshort, I would like to see an Ironwood Burl HI! I have seen some of that specie around just never worked any myself. I sent Alan some burls from my private stock that he turned into some of the most beautiful HI's I have ever seen. I know another guy that has sent him some ausie burl that I am sure will rival my pieces. I am a burl guy myself and dig the unique patterns of it and bright eyes. Get a chunk to him, I look forward to seeing what he spins for ya!

I would really like to do that. I would also really like to see your collection because I probably haven't gotten to them in the thread yet.

I contacted vapexhale and picked up a few ez bowls and Ive been playing around with them on a few of my vapes.

Here is an 18mm gong stem(its an EQ heater cover cut and flame polished) which i received as an spare for my ecano mod from Planetvape a few weeks back.thanks planetvape:tup:.Im getting great vapor.

the issue I had from the outset is the cloud ez bowl is a loose fit in an 18mm glass gong tube so I worked it out and made an adapter to seal and hold the ezbowl securely into the glass stem and then an insert was added to hold it securely onto the Hi 10mm heater tube interference fit.the stem is a little loose on the heater tube when cold but a nice firm fit when its at operating temps.

the beauty is It allows the hi heater tube to slide down into the ez bowl as you vape so the heat is close to the material at all times as it reduces.the ezbowl being inside the stainless tube creates some conduction too during heat up adding to vapor production.It also has a tight seal around the heater tube so no unnecessary air is drawn in around the seal between the heater tube and the stem.the stem can be inverted upside down without any risk of it falling off but can be removed with a gentle pull between hits to stop material cooking.the hi heater tube is only in contact with the taper end of the upper shim so in essence the heater tube floats inside the ez bowl.anyways some pics.

the ez bowl in the gong.the reducing shim is pressed into the top of the easy bowl.The SS i ve used is strong 0.3 mm thick so doesn t soak up unnecessary heat from Alans resistor.

the finishing position and the hi heater tube is bottoming out on the bottom of the ez bowl.

Its a good combo with my glass and the taste is there.I originally just dropped my hi into the lid of the ezbowl but i found I lost out on performance vaping through two screens.so I dumped the ezbowl lid and looked at immersing the Hi heater tube inside the ezbowl with the help of an open shim.there is plenty of air getting into the Hi although it looks like their isn t:)

:clap: Actually,,,quite similar to my thoughts. I don't buy anything with a name like 'Obama' or 'Michael Phelps' OG, 'Charlie Sheen' 'Berry White'. However, I rarely turn down a 1/4 oz of free AAA. :nod:

u bwade wunner - Very cool modification. I love how versatile the HI can be. Keep up the creative thinking. I may have to play around with the ezbowl myself. Your psu looks right side up to me since you are down under. It probably works the same either way. Would love to find one that is that size and reliable. Would make small flat rate box shipping a reality for most orders. That would save people some money on shipping. Looking forward to cutting into that aussie burl. It should be much drier by now.
Looks like it will be exactly 1 year tomorrow for the HI thread. Hoping next year will be a very good one for all.
