hey guys i wondering about trying some bho from my despencery. its 80 a gram seems very exspencive to me. i mean thats more then a quarter of there good weed. i used to smoke green oil that was like 60 for a 5er. i would think with the price of this stuff you would only need a micro amount to do the job? can anybody tell me is it really that strong? would it really be like a quarter of good weed concentrated down to just a gram. should it last as long as the weed if used sparingly? also would smoking or vaping the oil be less harsh and heavy on the lungs if used lightly? any iput would be apreacheated thanks

Nah man, it'd be more akin to about an eight of weed in terms of potency. Good weed lets call it 25% cannibinoids by dry weight, good bho is about 85% on average. So lets say a good gram of bho is about an eighth concentrated. If youre looking for efficiency then a vape is still your best bet.

As for health, there is much debate and little testing, so no clear answer. Over smoking it's probably healthier, far less carbons. But the negative is vaping waxes with the cannabinoids that can't be proccessed by the lungs. Some products have more waxes then others, and bho called wax tends to be whipped, which crystalizes the wax so more burn and less will char, which causes more absorbtion of it into the lungs.

*edit to clarify- the waxes cant be absorbed by the lungs, the cannibinoids should. Again though, little testing on actual users has been done.

There doesn't seem to be any rule about talking prices on FC...so I'll just say it: $80 is a joke. That dispensary is ripping you off. If they have the moral backbone to charge you $80, then they are probably also slimy enough to be low-balling their producers too. I won't pay more than $50/g although even in LA I see it for $60 some places. Most of the time, decent wax is $30-50. It is a process which if completed "wrong" will yield a shit product. If completed correctly, with shit starting material, the process will yield shit product. If completed properly, with good starting material, it will be heavenly. Everything must go perfectly. I find that whack wax is worse than whack flower 90% of the time.

Anyone remember "moon rocks" lol...people will find a way to charge $80/g for their snake oil - doesn't mean we have to pay it.

I'd like to point out that while this may be true of "blasting" butane, there are many ways to get high end oil from low end material (trim). It typically involves mechanical as well as chemical process, so it may not be technically bho, but many people use that as a general term for hash oil. Another User posted a link in the cera thread about pure gold, there process seems to have same end result regardless of potentcy of starting material.

One gram of 'quality' oil from 'bud' will require 7-10 grams. Add to that the batch testing & labeling fee and the dispensary markup and it doesn't put the product out of the realm of price expectancy (even 'if' we all know they aren't doing micro batches to make concentrates).

I can't speak for others, but with 'occasionally' (not dedicated only) dabbing, my dabs on a nail avg approx .05 to .1 per hit 'maybe' twice in an evening. If I only vape bud... I'll see myself using upwards to a gram an evening depending on my mood.

I do have friends that dab all day long (in my case, that would lay me the fuck out, lol), but they also make their own.

I just find that doing dabs get the job done fast and hard.... it's a 'different' experience hit with a much different taste and longer lasting effect (to me).

NOTE: I'm only an evening partake person as I need all the motivation I can gather to handle this lil horse farm I own

I agree...... I've taken sugar leaves & trim, process via dry ice extraction, mixed the kief with ground bud and sprayed with butane. Very nice resulting product for me.

I seriously love oil, during the day I actually find it gets me seriously stoned while being kinda clear headed (could have been tolerance, I'd been exclusively using this strain for several months). While I think its awesome I make my own at a discount rate. If it was going to cost me as much as 1/4 I would always go for the skunk. I reckon its certainly worth trying at some point.
I also don't feel that I get anywhere near as good a hit vaporizing oil in conventional vaporizers, dabbing is the way to go IMO.
When I first made BHO I was doing such tiny dabs, literally as little as 10mg. I weighed out 25mg (0.025g) recently and it got me stupidly baked in a single hit.

I'm seriously anxious to try vaping bho in the CERA I ordered... this is going to be a whole new learning experience for me & I look forward to it.

I'm a 'hash' lover..... I love my imports but can only combust them (up until now), and I've only dabbed my bho and qwiso (sure, I've occasionally done the oils in a piece of cotton ball thru a vape... but it's not as satisfying to me via that means).

It's gonna be a whole new ball game to play shortly for me & I can hardly wait to play.

Price of oil is going to depend heavily on what it's made from. Most oil is made from trim, or a mix of trim and buds. That stuff will go for 40-60 bucks a gram. Very few places use straight bud, but IF they are, 80 bucks isn't out of the realm of possibility.

for sure right? I dont have access to trim, so I make mine form buds. and it's expensive for me to do so... so BHO is a treat! got some right now though!

ok here are my thoughts on your questions.

first off this stuff is NOTHING like that green crap we all used to smoke (iso based, long soaked right?) that was first "weed" i ever bought for myself way back when actually. I much prefer herb over that kind of oil any day.

Honey oil is much much more pure! basically think of it as the essence of herb and all of what you want while getting rid of all the plant material, the bulk of what weed is. honey oil should taste really good. if it's not purged enough you will feel the butane after taste. (an urge to keep exhaling because your body wants it out!)

this stuff is very potent. a usual oz run should net you 3.5-5 g of oil. personally I usually get 12-15% back in terms of a yield.

it costs me about to 60-90 a gram to make mine. so i think that price is fair if it;s made form buds. ask them how it's made.

if you buy bho your tolerance will go up because it's fun to do more than you need. and can be a little wasteful ime. it is very strong yes.

the best way to do you oil is off of hot Ti (curve, nail, w/e...) and through a bong. portable oil vapes are good, but still not as good as Ti imo.

vaping is always less harsh than smoking. but hot/warm vapor feels dry! just an fyi.
