I can report that combustion is still likely with flower at six volts although there is a larger window to learn control over 7.4.
You just gotta let off and pulse it the moment you taste vapor. Almost no prewarmimg required.
Let heat a few seconds. Draw slowly. A few seconds later taste vapor. And a few seconds after that I tasted smoke.
Definatly worth some further research.
Wish I had some oil to try out these tanks with.

I have 2 orders, #6239 (Herc) and #6505 (Iris and 2 x 18350 AW). I ordered them separately, hoping I would get everything at once or around the same time, but due to the delays, my Herc will be shipping before the batteries.I would like to know if there is any way I could get my batteries shipped with my Herc? Also, has anyone with similar Herc order numbers receive theirs yet? I'm starting to get jealous.

Best thing to do is go to the delta9 website and open a ticket. As for similar Herc numbers sending out, yes, mine was 6214 (or something like that) and it arrived Friday.

Hey G, any chance you might start to include some of these with the Hercs? Seems like a simple and efficient fix for the time being.

Edit: Sorry for the back to back post mods!

Thanks, man! Do you have any idea what they're made of?

One long woven .004 diameter stainless steel wire. It's woven into a tube then packed into the biscuit, but can easily be teased apart and cut to size with scissors.

The wire itself is solid AFAIK, the tube involved is the open ended 'sock' it's woven into. I think I got the last pair of Volcano pads from PV. They come in two sizes, either works great. German engineering specifically aimed at this problem (vaping liquid).

Very fine wire gives maximum surface area with minimum mass of metal to heat.

Yo G, you should really add an option to pick shipping method. Having to sign is a huge pain in the ass.

For sure this is an identified issue, it's come up a lot. You're not the only one with 'the local Post Office from Hell'. My normal carrier doesn't seem to like talking to people, he drops the mail in the slot, taps lightly enough on the front door not to wake the cats and slips away. Every time. The local PO looses track of it close to one time in two. They're on a roll, the last 3 the package has not been there when I came to get it The last time was a little different different, the computer showed it 'out for delivery' for 3 days. Seems the truck broke down, as did the replacement truck. In the transfers the 'chit' and package got separated, the former never to be seen again. They had no idea where it was, actually.

Anyway, D9 is aware it's a hassle but as I understand has had problems in the past without the signatures.

PV does not have this problem, another reason to support them IMO.

I think I may know I fix for the combustion issue.
There are some 18650 batteries that output 4.8 volts.
That would put it just bearly above were the hercules cart designed to do herb at 3.7 is.

The 3.7 volt one for herb is 1.2 ohm so its running about 11.5 watts.
The one for oils is 1.6 ohms so at 4.8 volts it will be about 14.5 watts. Thats alot closer then 6 volts/ 22.5 watts.

The batteries require there own charger too though.

Have you actually tried this? That guy is a real battery (what we routinely call 'batteries' are really cells, single units, it's only a battery if there are two or more working together, like several cannons make a battery of artillery).

There are four tiny NiMH cells in there in series. This means the internal resistance will be quite high, and we want to the lowest possible number there. I'm betting it 'sags down' a lot under load and has serious self heating issues at the current levels we need. And it's pitifully small in capacity for a 18650 size, say 1/4?

Someone should try and report back, but I'm predicting poor results.

I have not tried it or ever used those batteries at all. Just thought they might help till people can all get iris tops.

Im confused on why they would drain so fast. There the same mah as the 18350 batteries that are stacked to get 7.4 volts.
So I would think it would have about the same run time as people are getting running at 7.4 volts. Since 7.4 volts is running over twice the wattage it would drain them twice as fast right?

I know they cant compare to the regular 18650s runtime just tried to say there the same size so they should work.

I also dont know how safe they would be to use at that wattage/amperage either.
Sorry if I posted something unsafe to use i just thought they might help.

I see in the pic of the batteries it does look like 4 cells inside. I never noticed that.

If you run twice the voltage, you need half the current for the same power. Comparing them to the IMRs used in Persei is misleading, IMRs have lower capacity than Li-ions of the same physical size but are prized for exactly the factor (low internal resistance) that these guys are going to perform very poorly I think.

They should fit and will work I think, just much more poorly than the recommended batteries. One of the clues here is other high demand use (like laptops, cell phones, MP3 players and the like) always use Li-ion not NiMH batteries these days.

They should be safe enough, although I bet they run hotter (they self heat more) which is never a good thing. Useful perhaps sometimes, but not this time I think.

It's sad to see the headshops (SMOKE SHOPS) and collectives so irnorant when it comes to vaperizing?
Every shop I have been to the owners or workers know nothing about the subject?
I seen OMINCROM version 1.0's and no PERSEI's?
No waterpipe adaptors?
Plastic tanks for E type PENS?
Brick and Mortar stores with 2 year old technology?
The owners must be stumbling over $ to save Penny's?
Just a rant!

Rant all you wish, this seems like a good place for it, provided you keep it between the ditches of course.

I agree it's sad, but I hardly consider them ignorant. They're Capitalists and if they're successful at staying open I think they demonstrate skill and understanding in doing so.

Let me propose two ideas? First off, they will sell what customers demand or loose business to those who will.

Secondly there is absolutely no incentive for them to promote vape systems that will lead to their customers buying less goods from him. He's in that business for heaven's sake. He wants you to buy more from him, not less.

I think that means it falls to us and other folks interested in spreading the good word to educate folks, create the demand.

OF, can you explain this a bit further. I have a brand new Herc and two of the ss sponges. Do the sponges simply unravel to the correct size?[/

Received a shipping notice from d9V support today after sending my loose heater from the Hercules last week...
We still haven't gotten confirmation whether or not all the heaters get concentrate inside. Am I going to receive a sealed heater or will I have to create some kind metal sponge to put at the base of the unit for a temp fix?

I'll try. First let's be sure we're on the same page here, what do you mean by "ss sponges"? The Volcano concentrate pads?

they do take on concentrate, if you sent it in for a replacement, you probably got the same thing we all have again. i doubt they have redesigned and produced new items in a week.
as to the second question, have to is kinda loaded. helpful, i think so. am only person to try it afaik, but it works gangbusters for me.

if you can find a start point you could theoretically pull out as much as you wanted, then stuff it around the ceramic (done with the stainless top on so you don't get it caught in the threads). otherwise, i just snipped a small piece off, about the circumference of the hole, poked a hole in the center about the size of the ceramic rod. gently stuffed down and around the rod. pack down with old omicron cart (non threaded end) or other tool make sure it's packed down well enough for the tank to fit well. hope that helps

Bob, what did you use to cut the pad?

suprised how few of those ss liquid pads are available. I called around to 7 different shops before i found a set, and the shop that i found it was their last one. I'm going to try the above and see how it compares as well.

Bob, what did you use to cut the pad?
a small pair of strong fiskar scissors (fiskars, when it needs to be cut...) the amount use was really small, i had to cut my original piece down to size, and that was taken from an already cut pad.
I would like to set the Hercules up with the pad before it's first use.

Bugsy
i would suggest it. am reporting results of original form use to D9, but so far the "VSS" version is far outperforming. maybe some of the more thrifty of you could split one w/ another member. just a thought. also, be really gently packing the wire down. don't want to fuck w/ that base anymore then necessary. my two cents

How am I suppose to sign for my package at the po box? And if I sent it to my buddy's po box with his name on shipping does he sign? Or do I because I'm on the billing?

Bob, I like your straight forward approach. I've always just teased and the biscuit a bit, pulling it apart in my fingers until the tube part appears. Then I pull the tube some, making it longer and thinner, and snip off a piece a few inches (or longer for bigger jobs like the HA) keeping it woven together as best I can.

Not rocket science, you just 'got to make little ones out of big ones'.

I guess the word got out, guys that don't even own Volcanoes are using them..... Not to worry, I'm sure they'll make more for us. I'm not sure it was ever all that popular in shops, but on line it's easy enough to fine, least ways has been for me:
http://www.vapeworld.com/volcano-vaporizer-liquid-filling-chamber-pads
http://www.vapeworld.com/volcano-vaporizer-easy-valve-liquid-filling-chamber-pads

Both seem available there (and other places on the web), either size works as well as the other.

I just happen to have a pair of fiskar scissors(bud trimmers....hope they don't get ruined).....looking at the pad I think 4 Hercules pads could be made.

thanks BOB

Maybe you could drill a hole in the porous tank insert (removed from tank) and slide it down the element. Wouldn't that work a little more efficiently by capturing the oil as it slides down the rod? A little easier to clean and reuse as well
