Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

Yeah, the seepage is a serious pain in the ass. Definitely needs to be dealt with somehow because it truly sucks having oil on my tanks when I take them out. One thing I intend to start doing is pre-loading a few tanks at a time so that I can just switch one right out after hitting. That way I won't have to worry about cleaning a sticky hot sticky tank after every hit.

Also, I don't know if you saw my second question but are you using the Herc as more of a one-hit nail cart or more like a traditional Omicron cart?
i am filling all tanks and switching them out, but i hit a loooot of oil in a day.
i kinda don't know what ya mean by one hit nail or omi cart. i fill a tank w/ about a quarter gram, when hits get light, switch out either tank or batt. maybe if you asked a different way i could be of more help?

Other than getting burned, herc gets really hot, i think the heat shield also helps retain heat for maximum vaping of oils !!!!

I suppose i should have added, currently i'm waiting for a replacement of the base piece, so trying to figure out if its going to be safe or not to use while waiting. The heat shield is nice, but i think it can work without.

also, probably a major heat problem for the persei head. my guess is that's what it's there for?
also, no way to get the mouthpiece on without it?

The heat in the persei head is mainly what i was thinking of, but is it an issue? At a level of probably it seems we are at the same confidence level :)

The mouthpiece, or actually the part the mouthpiece screws into slips right out of my heat shield, so i can basically attach the whole thing minus shield and spacer.

What I mean is, do you fill your tank with one hits worth of oil at a time (like a dab off of a nail) or do you fill them with say .3 and get many hits out of them (like your standard omi carts)?

kindbeats,
How do you know when the Persei batteries are charged? I know this is a noob question, read the instructions first.. I got 2 3.7v in there right now, does the light change green or just go off or something? The red light started flashing..

The light on the charger turns green when fully charged.

Bob knows more than I however:

My HERCULES took .25 - .30 grams per tank and provided about 20 - 25 vapor rips.
same.

should go green

as to adding a screen/sponge like insert. i happen to have an already cut up volcano sponge that i cut a chunk off, gently pushed down around my ceramic rod, then gently poked a hole thru to the rod. gently pushed down around the sides, packed down with, of all things, an omicron cart. then put in the tank and started hitting. is going very well so far. will report back as to loss to the heater. not meant as a permanant fix, but will hope fully do for now.

if you have a hammer top i might risk it, if really desperate to use it, but at your own risk

I think the Herc has a lot of potential in both concentrates and herb, but right now it is really lacking in the tank department. Obviously it just came out and this is expected though.

I can imagine a some sort of herb cart made from a stainless steel screen or maybe a screen insert that molds around the ceramic rod which holds herb. This would make it a lot easier to load herb bowls and clean after a bowl is done. Just pull out the screen mold, empty, and refill with herb. If you can make the screen the right shape, you might be able to work it out so the surface area around the ceramic rod is maximized (thin layer of bud), requiring only one or two stirs per bowl.

Would you be able to post a pic for us Bob? Also, are you doing this as a means of preventing the seepage we spoke of and if so, looking forward to hearing your results!

Also, is anyone else's top section of their heater core (where we insert our oil tanks) getting stuck in the outer shell when trying to disassemble the Hercules?

Maybe as a temporary fix to the leaking of oil under the ceramic rod, a porous stainless steel donut (just like the tank inserts except with a hole in the middle) could be fit around the lower portion of the ceramic rod to "soak up" oil that makes its way down the rod. It would probably vaporize within the donut...

EDIT: This is exactly like Mr. Loblaw's idea...except G could make them from the same material that the tank inserts are made from, Just slightly modified.

Okay, I definitely see what Organic Mind was saying about the never ending oil bubble. I just iso'd everything and went to dry fire for a while and an endless amount of oil started bubbling up out of the base of the Hammer. Now I understand how the oil is seeping and getting on the tanks.

G, is there a fix for this coming up with the replacement parts?

We are on it and will have a temp fix for it shortly. Once we figure out how to faster the hammer to the stainless steel shell and not have it crack under stress we will replace parts accordingly.

Quick question for you guy. How many minutes of use should I be able to get out of a freshly charged set of batteries that came with the Persei?

Depends, carts last longer than lets say the hammer and high powered attachments, with oil carts i would get days on a single 3.7v and double that with the 7.4 5ohm setup, my hammer rod gives and bender gives about 3 good sessions with full charge probably like 30 minutes run time maybe less !! Hercules seems a little more efficient than the bender so maybe 45 minutes!:D
Maybe G can chime in on more detailed facts!!!

Hey Bob, when you say that you're getting about 20 hits per quarter gram packing, how long is your average hit and how long are you allowing it to heat up before hitting it? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to get this thing dialed in.

Yeah, Bob is wise for sure, lucky for us he shares that knowledge and insights with us on a regular basis. We should probably get a back up Bob or two? Just in case?

Otherwise, thanks very much for the weight and hit count. So we're talking like 10mg per hit here? That sounds mighty 'healthy' to me. Not for the timid.

Thanks again for the flow of interesting and useful information, Ataxian.

BTW, you do know not to loan money to Bob, right?

I charged up my Persei batteries and cleaned all the herc parts, however when I put both sets of 3.7v batteries into my Persei and hold the button nothing happens. The upper 3.7v battery was sticking up past the threads a bit which I noticed in the instructions it said to make it flush so I used the tool to lower them down into the Persei body a bit but still nothing happens. I also screwed on the hammer with the tip exposed and held the button for at least half a minute, was completely cold. Is there something else I need to do or something?

It's doing this with no cart on it? Sounds like a bad battery from here. The light should be working at least.

What happens when you try the 3.7 Volt battery that comes with Persei. I don't expect vapor or even a lot of heat but the light should work. If not, time to try the dual Persei head from the kit.

Good luck, let us know how it progresses?

With the hammer attached to the single top and the herc I got no lights or heat. I purchased a second set of 3.7v volt batteries and had the same result with those. I can try the dual top but if that doesn't work either it means I got a bum unit? I tried using the little tool in the bottom to raise the batteries as high ad they would go, no change with the single top :(

Check spring to make sure it didn't get pushed flat ?

No, if the single and dual head units both don't work that points away from the unit, back at the batteries or the charger. There have been charger issues for some, this will do what you're seeing. Checking with the 3.7 Volt battery (which is only one, not two inside) is a useful clue, it should have some charge in it still, the others may be dead flat.

Thanks.

If they are flat tops it could be poor contact between cells. I use a magnetic spacer for some imrs.

Ok finally home. I tried the big 3.7v battery, still nothing, no light no nothing. I put the dual top on and bam light comes on right away with both battery configurations so my single top must be DOA :( I will have to contact delta9 about this :( Really hope I dont have to send the whole Persei kit back to them..

Can I use the herc or hammer in 1 of the dual slots and just leave the other one empty in the meantime? I tried it for a few seconds and it does heat start heating them up..
