Discontinued ThermoVape Evolution

Hello everyone!

New to the board - hoping it's ok to change the current topic, but stay on the same thread?

The Evolution sucks! Thermovape has demonstrated they have awful customer service! They won't answer emails past things related to sales, or telling me to send my Thermovape in to have it rebuilt. I sent it in. The rebuild was a failure, for, oh wait...a device that NEVER worked properly to begin with! I've never owned a device, of any type, that never worked from the start...until this one.

What's beyond frustrating is that Thermovape is ignoring my (very pleasant and courteous) requests for a refund - they don't respond, including someone named "Noah" who seemed very helpful on this board for prior posters.

I am truly disgusted and now have the pleasure of watching the Thermovape take up space, while I go out and spend money on something that actually works, and is actually backed up by the company that sells it!

Howdy, sorry you're having trouble. But I'm not sure what your goal is? If it is to come here and rant and run down the maker the mods can decide if that's OK I guess. If it's to see how many agree with "Thermovape has demonstrated they have awful customer service!" you'd best pack a lunch. These pages are full of just the opposite conclusions. There is one member I can think of off hand who might champion your cause, but I think he's alone there. Against that are dozens and dozens of contrary stories. I've no idea how that can be. BTW, Noah is his real name, he's a Principal there....he owns the joint. IMO a sharp guy and straight shooter.

If the goal is to get your Evolution going, I'm game for that if you want to try? Let's look at this logically. Many hundreds (perhaps over a thousand) of these have been made and are in use with basically 'no problems'. You got your unit rebuilt and checked out and it doesn't work on return. That means you got two of the extremely rare failures in a row? Not a chance. Not even if lightning has hit you twice. Sorry to be blunt, but logically that can't be it unless there's some conspiracy afoot.

OTOH, there have been a lot of guys that show up with the same sort of complaint about this and the similar T1 that just have technique problems. The last I recall was a week or so back on this very thread I think? You do realize you don't just load it up, push the button and hit right? There are two separate discreet steps you need to do before you can hope to get the hit of your dreams out of it? How are you doing at steps one and two? Is your test puff positive?

Come back with some information on that and I'm happy to see if we can get you going.....if that's what you'd like? How are you doing with steps 1 and 2 and the test puff?

OF

Edit: Like I said, this misunderstanding comes up a lot. Go back a page or two and check post 2788 from Monday for example:

"Holy shit! OF you need a damn warning label on that technique I just blew out a cloud that fogged my glasses.... EVO is officially a hit in my book! "

If you check back, you'll see he basically had the same problem I think you're having? He too wrote the product off as defective.

Your call.

OF's method = Oh Fuck method. Couldn't be happier with this unit.

Not sure that's exactly the image the agent told me to go for.....but thanks I think?

I agree, it's a great piece of gear. Since they've decided to end it and switch over to the Cera format, I can only assume that will be even better....which should make us happier still, which is a good thing I think?

Thanks again, enjoy the machine, that's why you bought it, right?

Let me know what needs to happen to make this right. Noah@thermovape.com.

Cheers.

Dear Noah,

I've sent you three emails and I have never once heard back from you. You sounded so sincere in this post and you offered your email publicly as a contact. But you have never answered my email. Not even an automated reply. The funny thing is, I emailed you because I was getting the run-around/ignored by others at your company.

I don't know why you have chosen not to respond to me. I do know that my ThermoVape Evolution makes a fine paperweight--If not an expensive one.

Just to summarize:

1. The Evolution I received direct from your company was defective from the start. I waited weeks to get parts.
2. Later trying it out, I discovered (through a sales person) it didn't work. So I sent it in to be rebuilt.
3. Got it back with *extra* parts; they were defective too. And it still doesn't work. And, you are still ignoring me.
4. So I'm out $200.

I would have even considered buying a new Cera. It sounds like a great product. Except, you don't really want me as a customer anyway.

Thank you for teaching me this lesson,
Long time lurker, Vap fan of other manufacturers.

@T. Bombadil

I don't believe that public e-mail address was directed to everyone. At the time of that posting (May 4) their customer base was smaller and the head of the company wanted to touch on that specific issue for that customer. I'm sure he means well and would like everyone to have a good experience but the head of the company can't respond to every customer and still work on day to day operations. There is a phone number and e-mail address for customer service issues as the company is so large that is the best way to get issues taken care of. I like the well thought out post from you and how you approached the issue though. Maybe another employee (Tim) will get in touch with you. If you would like assistance from us forum members you can make a detailed post of your issues and we can try to assist. Welcome to the forum.

I agree with PB. If you've lurked here at all you know Noah doesn't read this forum so the most you could hope for is to make trouble for them this way....which I'm sure is not the intent.

You understand, I hope, that 'dead on arrival' is very rare indeed (usually technique problems). They are all repeatedly tested at packaging (I've watched it happen). If you sent it in for evaluation/rebuild for sure it was well tested and worked to spec. The chances of two such rare failures in a row to the same guy are in the 'never happens' area of statistics.

Are you interested in sorting this out?

If so, does it get warm or show any glow in the core? Otherwise, I guess your point is made?

sounds a lot like the greenleaves234 post above on this same page. both users getting defective units upon delivery and then also defective after rebuild. just seems highly unlikely. and both claims posted using the users first post on the forum... just out of curiosity...

does T. Bombadil = greenleaves234?

just sayin

Yup. Statistics of small groups......

I note that for a guy who was so fired up GL234 has thus far not taken me up on my offer to help get him get going (just like happened to that fellow a week or two back). Proper technique is necessary and far from intuitive. Then again, lurkers on this thread know that?

You can't blame a guy for not knowing how to make it work, but when they miss the offer to learn and save that 'wasted $200 investment' a guy's gotta wonder some. I hope they come back and sort it out, as the rest of us know once you sort it out it's a mighty useful tool.

Anyone want to put a side bet on our new found friend also being silent on the 'let's fix this' offer?

On a whimsical note, at least we don't have a case of 'my other vape's a Volcano'.....

Thank you for the friendly comments. I do appreciate the suggestions as well but I didn't post this at the beginning of my adventure. I've read (from before my purchase months ago) and tried a number of suggestions (since I received my 'rebuild' Evolution) I just haven't posted about it all.

As for manufacturing defects (over blaming the customer) I've added as my profile pic one of the defects--that's the pealing metal finish on the inside of the first insulating sleeve I got from them.

I only sent it in to be rebuilt after I brought it into a friendly shop and the experienced sales person confirmed it wasn't functioning properly. So they sent me two defects. Well I wasn't happy but forgivable *if*, with a positive customer service experience they would have gone out of their way to square things up. But the most positive way I could describe the customer service experience would be 'lackadaisical'. It's not a sharp business model to piss customers off. Or to have a product that would need research on the internet as part of a learning curve.

I would have even bought the new Cera vaporizer they are releasing (even though it looks like a vibrator) had I had a positive experience.

Its cool people here feel so passionately over a consumer product. I only wish I had seen that passion from the people I bought the thing from.... I would have been here raving about it then.

I could still change my mind if there was some effort *from the company*. Real effort not bureaucratic speak and an offer to rebuild it again or replace with another *discontinued* product!

And, the offers for help; thank you, but, short of coming here and holding my hand I don't really know what is left to try.

Wish I was Vaping rather than typing,

OK, thanks. I think I've got it. You're very upset about treatment and quality of product basically nobody else has seen. In the hundred plus pages of this thread alone (the company has several such threads) there are probably something like half that many glowing reports of satisfaction with that very service? Small wonder folks aren't responding to that IMO.

From my interests, I understand the issue is there, not in getting your unit working (which is fine). Of course that's your call. I suggested two questions that would have got us started, they still stand.

I'm good with your name, but I hope you can understand the other fellow's point of view?

Good luck with your fight.

Anybody using an LV Dart on their LV EVO body? How's it working for you? What do you like about it, what do you dislike about it? Does it leak? Really on the fence about this one!

Ya lost me here, DART and Evolution are both carts, they can't be used together unless you have two supplies and two hands?

IF the question is 'does DART work well with the Ultra supply?' My answer is 'Wow, does it ever'. IMO they belong together. That 14500 is well matched to LV Revolution/DART.

Sorry not awake yet. Need more coffee!
The LV EVO uses 17670 batt. Will The LV Dart work with the 17670? IF it does how well does it work?

No worries.

Yes, it works very well (bigger than the Alpha but same voltage). Revolution (base for DART) started life there. You get close to 3 times the battery life (which is OK with 14500 IMO).

I was just on Thermovape's site. Is the this vape phased out? I can't find parts on the store. Specifically, I'm looking for that high efficiency heater core for the LV that doesn't get so hot. The one that's for vapor enthusiasts only or something. It was $26 or $55 with battery and charger.

Nevermind, I found the info on the site. They no longer support the Evolution. So lets see, the Evolution was announced in April of this year. And it's already phased out? I'll be steering clear of this company in the future.

Tuck,

Dangus

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
^^^ That was a beta product, being sold in the 'mod box' area, not something that went into full production IIRC. I'd shoot them an email and see if they can set you up.

edit: sorry you're looking for LV. Worth contacting TV. They rebuild other carts...

Not to worry, for ten bucks more they'll rewind it any way you want. That ten buck offer also works for the 'defective' low power one the OP already owns. A "high efficiency heater core for the LV that doesn't get so hot" is a moving target for sure. It was, of course exactly what was 'fine tuned' into the released version. No matter what you compromise on, some will feel it uses too much power. Others will be just as positive it's too much.

Ironically, if both those 'gripes' don't happen, the wrong compromise was probably chosen......

Ah I didn't know they redid Evos also. Thanks OF that's great news.

Yep. IIRC they have to scrap the heater and connector, the core itself and outer body are recycled. Since it needs a new heater anyway you can go custom. You don't have to kill it to send it in for upgrades. Be careful what you ask for of course, hotter burns up the battery faster and is harder to control. Remember, it's no doubt been tried and rejected for some reason which may or may not matter to you....

Anyway, you're welcome. Good luck.

sorry new here whats IIRC i was worried about my heater going and not being about to get it fixed this thing is awesome love it.

Added a few things to make it better don't get be wrong it worked fairly good to start with but failed me in cold weather and burnt my thumb and lips at my temp so i made a few adjustments like i have 2 couplings with a paper clip going threw the middle and a little peace of the paper clip sticks out the bottom to make for less heat transfer to the base. It now only gets warm perfect for hand warming and less power wasted heating the base. i added a ceramic drip tip with cotton string wrapped around to make it fit nicely and put the provided insulated sleeve over it making it extended mouthpiece for smoothness. I also used the plastic battery tube to go over the heater (cut the rubber cap top off and attach to vape so the the tube can be attached to vape and removed quickly when needed) and then cut the top off to expose the mouth piece so now its a wind shield and warms fresh air before it goes into the heater. you can also constrict the intake with your lips its perfect. everyone should do it makes it work perfect in cold weather and work even better in normal weather.

If I Recall Correctly, sorry for being too cryptic. Glad you're enjoying your unit, that was the main idea after all.

Welcome to the fun.

Not to worry, the heaters are really tough and cheap to repair if they fail out of warranty. Last time I asked 'honest in service failures' were under a dozen out of thousands. Abuse and misdiagnosed problems (usually switches) far exceeded them it seems.

ohh lol i thought IIRC was some company so thermo essence still does repairs on heaters for i cost if over warrenty?

and did anyone elts have problems with thermovape evolution not getting hot enuf in winter weather

i highly recommend a wind shield of some kind shouldn't be hard to make could be made by wraping paper around the top. mutch more effiecent heat cuz the wind sheild adds heat stabalization

i have to admit paper wouldn't look to great but its worth it the way it performs outside in winter weather i can get great milk hits from bubbler now

i can get 2 bowls per batterys in warm conditions and 1 in super cold conditions

6 farly milky bong hits or 8 nice direct hits
