Onward Thru the Fog
So I just finished a 10 day work binge, with barely time to even read the forum, let alone carry on like the rest of you, and I don't know where to begin. A couple of quick thoughts.

Noah: Some lungs! (nothing personal). Congratulations on the Cera line; nice to be at the forefront again, I would guess. Lots of questions...

I have a (perhaps) strange question about the Ti vs. SS stuff, specifically wrt the Oil core. I have a pretty good knowledge of the plusses and minuses between the two metals, but I'm having trouble relating it to what differences they will play in how the chamber works. I would just order everything in Ti, if for no other reason than to support your efforts (and maybe also because I really like Ti), but I would guess that the thermal characteristics are different enough between Ti and SS that it might effect the methodology of use, as well as other things I haven't considered. Does the Ti Oil core heat up at the same rate as the SS core? Does it cool down at the same rate? Would I be able to tell the difference (in usage, not in weight, etc.) between a Ti Oil Cera and a SS Oil Cera? What I'm really fishing for here is to make sure the Ti core will perform no worse than the SS core, and the only difference (besides cost) is in the "cosmetic" end of things (e.g., weight, corrosion resistance, scratch resistance, and just being a much nicer metal), not in the usage (vaping) end of things. I'm not sure how much metal is in the oven section of the core, but there sure is a lot of metal in the top of the core. Btw, sticking a 501 mouthpiece (I assume it would have to be ptfe) directly into the top of the thick-walled Oil core strikes me as a nose burning situation. That said, how much room would be left in the top of the core with a ptfe UFO mouthpiece stuck in there? Also, as long as I'm asking about Ti stuff, what does the inside of the body look like? (The part above the bottom switch and below the core). Is there an inner metal sleeve which the ceramic body surrounds, or just a flat ribbon cable or two running top to bottom between the inside of the ceramic and the outside of the battery? If there is an inner metal sleeve, can I presume the Ti model's sleeve is in Ti and the SS model's is in SS? Last Ti question for now is "How much Ti or SS is actually in the botanical core?" The reason I ask is I plan on getting the Cera Ti Oil, and ordering a botanical core. I can see a good reason to get the Oil core in Ti (along with it getting me the body and lower switch in Ti), but I'm not sure what getting the Ti Botanical core will buy me over the SS Botanical core. Lots of questions, I know; good thing you're well rested and clear headed.

I'm glad to hear the safety switch will optionally be removable; it was the one thing I didn't like about the new design. I trust OF's comments that it turns out to not be a problem at all, and I can see the wonderfulness of it preventing the Cera from rolling off the table onto the concrete, but I can also see it getting stuck on pockets, and cases, gathering lint, and being a pain. Of course, it's in the perfect place for easy one-handed turning on and off, while the bottom button is awkward to toggle one handed (as I saw in your awesome first Oil video). Let me say awesome again. Monster clouds, quick heatup time, much larger load size; a real and significant improvement over anything (everything) before it. Awesome. And as a final comment on the safety switch, I am accustomed to a safety showing red when an item is unsafe, and green (or nothing) when it's safe. (Think guns). From what I saw in your video's, when the safety switch is in the operating (unsafe) position, there's a green collar. Maybe the thought is "Green is Go" or "Green is Good". You should probably ignore my colored collar thoughts...

OF: What can I say? You're having too much fun; don't hurt yourself. Your reports are a welcome relief in a sea of questions. I'm looking forward to further reports on more "normal" usage. As a SV T1 owner, I read your reports of battery life with the 18650 and the new core with much delight. Two RCR123A ~350mAh batteries (that's really what they are; a spectacular example might get 400mAh) can't really manage more than a bowlful and a half. How 'bout some tests on how it works when you take three or four hits every couple of hours (rather than the tests you've been reporting where you keep the Cera turned on for extended periods of time). I understand that everyone wanted to know how hot the Cera would get, and how long the battery could keep the core glowing, (as did I as well), but now I'm sorta interested in things like "if I take three or four hits in a session, how many sessions can I expect from a finely ground, tightly packed load, and how many loads should I expect from a fully charged super battery". I realize that you are about to proceed directly into Cera Oil heaven, so I don't really expect an answer in the immediate future, but when you get a chance, I'd love to know.

Finally, in Noah's great videos, am I the only one who pays more attention to what's on the workbench, who's walking around, how many yet-to-be-assembled Ceras are sitting on the back bench, how many weird Gen 1 vape combinations they have assembled for themselves over the months, how often everyone there takes a vape of nicotine, what kind of watch Noah wears (a Breitling), what kind of cameras they're using, what kind of tools and solvents, etc., rather than paying attention to what they're actually demonstrating?

This battery is button-top and it uses a 2900mAh Panasonic battery, as does the Cera's battery, if memory serves:

http://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-...-ncr18650-protection-made-in-japan-top-button

Unless I missed it, the listing doesn't note the protection level. A similar 3100mAh battery on the same site appears to have 1C protection, so the smaller capacity battery likely has a similar protection level.

They also carry a similar 3400mAh version.

Does anyone have any experience with the following charger on the same site:

http://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-...-14500-26650-li-ion-battery-3-charging-speeds

It appears to charge a wider range of batteries than the Tenergy charger recommended for the Cera. It also has a 2A charging mode, which might be handy with the higher capacity batteries we're now seeing.

Best,

Haywood! Long time buddy. Good to hear from you. I am a little too tired to tackle your post. I am going to go lay for a minute (more like 60 minutes) for a combat nap. Been puhing pretty hard since 2001 :D... finally caching up.

I'll tackle your questions shortly. But in a nutshell, there is not going to be a performance difference in the SS vs. Ti models. All the magic is happening secondary to some good air fuel mixture and the right use of poropus, and structual ceramics to develop an even, consistent heat. Your gut feeling was correct. The benefits are simply secondary to the better material, i.e Ti,

More complete response will come once my eyes will focus on the monitor again...

Anthony just added RAM and a 700gb Harddrive to his computer, he is rested and ready.

Let me know what you guys wold like to see covered in a new video. We will shoot tonight (post my siesta).

Please give us your topics/questions that we can address in the video, or techniques/vapor demos.

All 3 models are alinve and running so, name your Cera (LL = Loose Leaf, EO = Essential Oil, VG = Vegetable Glycerol)

So lets use: Cera LL, Cera EO, Cera VG.

You tell us the model and what you would like, we'll start rolling in an hour or two.

SIDE NOTE:
Chargers. BTW a note on chargers. The Tenergy charger we sell works very well for charging the Japanes cells. It works better then a wf-188 or equivelent. If the PC is tripped the Tenergy charger reliable resets the PCB instantly upn insertion in the charger bay.

If you want the "best" charger for vaping IMO, without going really crazy with programmable/configurable chargers is the Pila brand.

Batteries: AW batteries are the best batteries, made in China. Panasonic cells from Japan, and Samsumg Cells from korea both outperform AW cells. ANY CELL/BATTERY USED IN THE CERA MUST BE PROTECTED.

IMHO it is best to avoid purchasing the newest. highest capacity battery. They tend to not outperform the cell just below (largely because of optimization wit continued production). So what I mean is that if you can get a 3300 mAh panasonic, or a 3100mAh, or a 2900mAh. There will be very little/if any perceived performance improvement.

Pila Charger Link to Lighthound

Allright, everything is blurry... closing eyes.

Cheers,

Noah

Just a reminder there is a video coming with these topics covered.

Finished shooting the second Cera Essential Oil Video, all requests were addressed, so expect:

General
Assembly
Loading - Initial
Loading - quick
With Glass (was cut out and posted earlier)
Flow path
Leaking (spoiler there is none under routine use)
Vaping
Warm-up
more...

This should answer most peoples questions and really show what the Cera is capable of.

Thats kind of where Im at, Im out and about all day, and will take hits randomly through out my day (before work, during work, after work, home, etc...). Will this last me through out my day, not in FULL SESSIONS but hits here and there, frequently through out my day? And will certain cores have different battery life (Loose Leaf VS EO VS Liquid)? Like if Im switching them constantly through out my day?

EDIT: Essentially like how I treat my cell phone, run it all day, use it when ever, charge it at night. Repeat.

Also i understand there is the car adapter, I am asking about the length of my battery life, of 1 battery fully charged over night.

Thats hilarious, trust me Im completely focused on what the videos have to show. But i cant stop looking at all the other ceras and people in the background. I dig it though, a very " In the Moment" video of knowledge. Im glad they care enough to drop what they're doing and show us what they're working on.

"Cheers"

well yes and no... hehe I've been in that cart a few times, but still not going full force just yet... got to see if the universe will line up my finances so I can justify the expense... after all my desk is already covered in vaporizers, and at this point it starting to feel like I am going a bit loco... it's beyond a hobby at this point. I am very tempted though, let me tell you, esp. after that oil cart video... HOLY VAPOR!! :o I have not been using oils as much lately, but when I do want to use them, that would be the quality of vapor I would want.

If you do get it and want to save some coin, just get the regular switch for now and wait until a discount code pops up down the road and spring for the illuminated then...this way you will get both switches ;)

I hear you about too many vapes...but I am already certified insane, so I have an excuse :D:rockon:

That's too bad; hopefully one day they can offer them again. I'd still wait to buy the switch separately though, if it means getting a spare.

Yeah, If I plan to pay $25 for the end cap, I would like to have the option to use the plain cap too, so it does make sense to wait and buy it separately. I really just think the light would help in keeping me from just leaving it on by mistake more than anything... if I were to get it ;)

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
If I had a T1 and liked it I would be all over this. I didn't buy the T1 for a few reasons which they seem to have solved but for me I have to wait to you all do the reviews. This looks like a very impressive unit. Since I am fighting with my INH I need another dildo. Yes, I fight with inanimate objects as well as my dogs and whoever else you can think of. I put my old gps on in the car just to ignore her. I even make fun of her and trust me she does me as well. I know this cause she changes what she does.

Iam pretty sure your talking about the essential oil cart, come on come on get a hold of yourself, come back to reality my friend, we need to hear more about that EO cart!!!

You got that part right. One hit. Amazing. I don't know what you mean about 'come back to reality'.....Cera is reality.

Take 3 hits and I bet Elvis tries to steal it from me. No way I'm letting that happen.

It's mine! All mine, and you can't have it, so there! Noting more you really need to know but I'll be happy to try to answer simple questions. Best move fast, I'm thinking of another hit or two....

Anybody with access to good oil who is looking for 'massive clouds' and doesn't jump on this one will do so when the word gets out. Mark those words, friends and neighbors, you're gonna like this part....

I put a half a gram of thick CO2 oil in it. It flowed in as a single mass easily with a little heat (a few seconds). There was a little gurgle at first (cold) sip since some of it flowed straight down past the heater to the vents it seems, first puff on it cold pulled that up and trapped it, no leak or other issues. Nothing really to clog. Hit the button for a second and it's full of vapor instantly. IMO it completes a design idea half done in Revoluton/DART. The larger heater and core and uniform heating changes the game entirely. Now all the concentrate is at the ideal distance from the fire since it's a cylinder with the heater up the center now. Same core as before, except now there are four. They have tooling made to make it to longer pieces eventually as well. The cart is all metal basically (some insulators and the reservoir of course, but the body is all metal. You can use the ceramic cover or not. It's not needed. Mortals aren't going to be able to hold it long enough to get too hot on the outside, not even as a team sport I suspect. All the Pure Flow and True Flow stuff works with it. Which means WP adapters.......

You should understand this is a conduction/radiation affair, not convection. No fine tuning of the heater needed. They can make a run of them with high confidence they will work well, which is what they're doing as the details of Herb cart tuning are worked out. On that front, Tim rewound my lower power one (which he rated at 10 Watts) to be 14 or so, nearly the top of the range they're currently considering, based I think on other tests still on going. Cores remain in very short supply. It took him 3 shots to get the value he wanted. When the oil test ends, back to that I guess. He also upgraded my Beta unit to match more closely the final version. A different battery spring arrangement to mimic the flexible copper strap the final one will have (doesn't rely on the spring itself for conduction). He also upgraded the conductor up the inside of the tube to the right one now that they have it. It's coming together on schedule, in a very laid back form of chaos. What was to be a quick pick up and run off to another errand blew up into a 3 hour visit. Life is tough.

We talked about how to present it, they're considering a web based interactive selector guide. Answer a few questions about usage, materials available and so on and it'll suggest products and power levels for you. Parts to complete a package and so on. I'm really starting to like the idea. It's complex and expensive. Most customers aren't going to be experts nor necessarily well schooled.

They also showed me the new safety switch idea. Consider the slide 3/16 inch or so shorter so it never sticks out. You use a (supplied) pin with a key ring attachment to push it back and forth. Or a toothpick. Same price, just an option. I like it. A few of the Titanium parts are in I think, I'm excited about loosing a third of the weight, I'd never considered how much metal is really in there, it's a lot really.

They're working on the colored cover idea, it seems on track. They know all about this stuff from medical gear it seems.

I don't know about you, but I like the 'clean with gama rays' idea. Be real handy for all of us with Cobalt sterilizers in the garage. I actually saw one once. A giant swimming pool with Cobalt sources on cables with winches, the water is shielding since the energy is low but the field is fierce. It glows in the water, like an evil demon....which it is. It kills anything it gets near when pulled up. Actually this facility had four such sources. Standing up on the catwalk looking into the tank is spooky to say the least. You can blast a bottle of fresh milk with one and the milk will still be fresh and safe at the second coming of Christ.

I'm now thinking abandoning the current line was a very smart move. T1 to Cera is a logical set of improvements based largely on what we asked for (anybody ask for changes that didn't happen here?) but the oil cart is a whole other thing. Based on one single hit, it and Revolution would never be considered cousins unless someone told you so. I really like the new threads, too. Much better. Hopefully this will evolve into a new standard for us. Effortless, finger tip changes.

OK, I'm clear headed enough to clear posts and answer any questions. But fair warning, later on I'm trying another hit and may be fairly useless to the world for a bit all over again, much as I really hate that part......

That is absolutely crazy beautiful, but how do we know it's not combusting (aside from the lack of coughing)?

That one's easy to answer. The taste says very fresh, there is no mistake about it. That's pure vapor and lots of it you're looking at there. The real deal.

Nope. Still one conductor. And no 'slip ring' or other way to transition to the cap. Or way to 'pick off' the signal above that I can fathom. No answer I could follow from them, but they said they'd get me one to inspect in the near future. They've got something up their sleeve again I'm thinking?
