A new LSV, with short 14mm WPA and the cord strain relief (thanks Sticks :)) is hurtling my way from VapeWorld as we speak. What a great company to do business with. Highly recommended without reservation.

damn, lwien...you actually bought another vape while your log is still working? start off with some really small loads...I want you to be able to find your way back!

fwiw, i just got my HI working and it goes through a nipple stem into a 14mm reducer. The 18mm wpa is much more wide open than this setup. not sure how the 14mm wpa will feel. any of you guys with both 14mm and 18mm to compare have an opinion?

My log is still workin' but it's getting a bit too hot lately probably due to using multiple retaining rings in an effort to tighten things up. :brow:

Wow. So not only did VapeWorld work out the best deal that I've found anywhere on an LSV and a WPA, they are sending it out Fed Ex next day air without any additional shipping charges. Paid for it today and will receive it by tomorrow afternoon.
Can't beat that. So excited...............

Hey lwein,

I have been corresponding with VW about the identical package you got. Do you mind me asking what you paid?

Thanks

$161 out the door including the WPA and Fed Ex overnight, but that was using the gobble33 discount code that was only in affect on Black Friday. Kinda of long story in that I input that code to see what the price was, but then held off for a few days because of something that Sticks mentioned. According to VW, 7th Floor products where not suppose to be included in that discount, but the IT guys failed to include the LSV in that exclusion, so they honored that for me being that I inputed it on Black Friday, but held off the purchase waiting to hear a response from them on a price inquiry over the Thanksgiving weekend. I wouldn't expect a repeat on this though. The circumstances were a bit special.

Cool, tnanks. That basically describes my situation, except when I added the wpa to my cart it did not give a discount on it with the gobble33, just the LSV.

So I emailed them asking if the gobble33 did not include the wpa accessory and I just received an email back with the same explanation you received. They responded saying since I had inquired before the sale was over and they have been super busy with black Friday sale orders to respond sooner, that they would honor the gobble33 and price match the wpa for $10, so around $164 shipped. Now I just need to send payment. Never have ordered from Vape World but so far they seem like a good company with great customer service.

Thanks again for the info.

Good deal. Looks like we both got a great vape at a great price. VapeWorld really is a great company to do business with.

Edit: Oh, one more thing. Make sure that you tell them what length you want in the WPA as well as make sure that you get one of the newer LSV's with the strain relief. Sticks received one without it and when I talked with Ellen, she said that they have a few of the older ones in stock and it's not designated on the box which ones have it and which ones don't so she had to send special packing instructions to the warehouse. Just a heads up..........

You guys got a better deal than me. :p:tup:

I was impatient and ordered it through VapeWorld's website over the weekend, got it yesterday. I paid $179 for the LSV and the 19mm WPA using the gobble33 code. They actually sent me 2 WPA's but both of them are the taller kind...one is maybe a cm shorter than the other.

So far I'm pretty happy with the LSV. Using the transfer wand I have been able to get some great rips. I'm not as impressed with the WPA...I actually found it pretty hard to get decent vapor through it. I tried sucking slower and faster and I can manage to get a few visible clouds if I really work at it but its nothing like the clouds I get through the transfer wand. Fortunately the mouthpiece on my transfer wand fits perfectly into a 19mm female gong downstem so I can still vape through water.

Glad to hear you got the strain relief. I've been wanting to contact them about this oversight on my unit, but I don't want to get rid of it. But I know it will cost me an extra $25 some day if I don't get on it.

I had similar problems with my LSV a while ago. This is what 7th floor told me:

Thanks for contacting 7th Floor. I will provide you instructions on how to keep the heater element in place, but keep in mind, you could pull or cross wires which would render the unit broken and you would have to send it to us for repairs. It sounds like you need to keep the heater element in place and this could fix all your problems. Pull the heating element up gently and hold the cap and shim down, to prevent the cap and shim from being pulled out. On the side of the heating element, close to the bottom as it is coming out of the cap, you will see the letters "STD-". Pull the heating element out til you see the dash and then slightly twist. Slightly twist. This should hold the heating element in place.

Do you have the shim that came with the unit? I can send you another for just the cost of shipping, about $6 - $7.

If you would like to send it in for repairs, please call me during business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm MST.
Thanks,
Chris

I wanted to say my LSV died after just a few weeks but I know why.

I have a friend that had the habit of resting it "standing up" on the couch (holding it in one hand), which of course bends the wire at a 90 degree angle. I always wanted to tell him not to do that but it died before I did (I was kind of telling myself that's not really going to break it).

Yesterday it was at the point where the wire had to be be in exactly the right position for contact to be made, making it unusable.

Before you think "I'm ok, mine has the strain relief", mine DOES have the strain relief, the only difference is that it makes it fail by breaking the connection inside rather than sawing through the cable which can lead to a short ("explosion"). In other words, the strain relief will only slightly delay the failure, and make it more likely to be a "non-violent" failure.

So if you or your friends have the habit of holding it standing up resting against the wire, stop immediately, it really can't handle that kind of stress on the wire for very long before it breaks.

Rather than send it back and be without it for a month, I opened it, cut out the broken part of the wire and soldered them back, I temporarily used electrical tape but as soon as I can go to the electronic store I'm buying heat shrink tubing and re doing the connections with that rather than electrical tape, I don't trust electrical tape in there at all (due to how crammed the connections are, the torsion of screwing it back, and the heat when operating).

Just wanted to let you know because if this happens to someone that doesn't know how to repair electrical connections or doesn't want to void their warranty it would suck to be without it for weeks.

Interesting. Sorry to hear about such a failure.

Doesnt the strain relief cap twist down as a compression fitting and stablize the cord? This should keep the inside wires from being strained no matter how you treat the external cord. Are the wires inside the insulation sliding around when you bend the cord at a 90 degree perhaps? If the connections on the inside have little slack this could cause strain over time and result in a break.

Ok, quick review of my new LSV coming from a LONG time PD user.

First off, the reason why I got the LSV was that I wanted to use it exclusively with glass. I ordered it with the short wpa and confirmed that with VW before the order was placed. What I got however, was the long wpa. Gave them a call and they said that they will send me a new "shorty" along with a return shipping UPS label for sending them back the long one. So, being that I need to send that back to them, I can't use it (new one should be here by next weekend), so I was left with trying out my new LSV with the transfer wand.

I wanted to see how the LSV would do with a PD sized bowl of bud so I loaded up a PD stem and dumped that into the LSV wand. Cranked up the heat to full (4:00 on mine) for 5 minutes and then backed it down to 12:00. Took a nice long slow pull, got some vapor on exhale and the bud started turning a golden brown. Now I know that many of you like to have your ABV come out this way, but for me, I like to get my ABV a VERY dark chocolate coffee brown.............a few shades below black and I like to do this from the get go rather than slowly get there. So, I then cranked the the temp up to 1:00. Same kind of vapor hit as the first hit. ABV remained a golden brown. Cranked it up to 3:00, same thing. Finally cranked it up to full........ABV got darker. No combustion. No black. Was able to get the same amount of hits from the LSV this way as I was able to get from one stem of the PD.

Keep in mind that one PD stem "barely" covers the screen in the LSV.

The next evening, I reloaded the the LSV again with a fresh PD stemfull, but this time, I started at 4:00, max temp setting. Took a long medium strength draw and this time, the ABV got a much darker brown on that first hit, which is what I like. Now I've heard that the LSV can combust at max temp, but I was never able to get it to near combustion levels and my assumption is because I am loading such a small amount. Thoughts?

I will say this though. With PD sized loads thu the transfer wand, I prefer the PD and here's why. With the air restriction of the PD, it really limits the air to vapor ratio. The vapor, therefore, is VERY dense but easy on the throat. With the LSV, however, there is almost no air restriction, so I am drawing in a lot more air, and with the temp setting at max, that volume of hot air really irritates my throat. I get no throat irritation with the PD, even though the ABV is coming out just a shade or two below black.

I would imagine though, that using a shorty WPA thru water will change all this.

But my question though is, even with a PD sized bowl (0.025g) put into the LSV's wand, should I still be able to get it to combustion? Is my LSV running cool or is it just because I am loading such a small amount. I tried various draw speeds from very slow to a fast/normal, both at max temp and the ABV still came out a hot chocolate brown rather than a dark chocolate/coffee brown.

Oh, one more thing. This new vape is sooooo much fun to use after being tied to my PD for over 4 years. Can't wait to get my WPA.

lwien,
lwien, couldn't you just use the WPA and ISO/boil it clean?

I don't have an LSV, but I've used a DBV extensively. I'd bet it's because of the small pack in the bowl.

We're here to fuck shit up.
If I go past the 2 o'clock mark on mine through the short WPA, my product will combust. I like my greens extremely dry so that may have something to do with it. I usually keep mine between the 11 and 12 o'clock marks until I get toward the end of a load. I bump up to 1 o'clock to finish and everything comes out very dark.

But I'm I'm going to assume that you are loading up much more than just 0.025g and that this difference in the amount in the bowl makes a big difference in this respect, eh?

I have experimented with everything from sprinkling just the top of the screen to full loads and my results are very similar except for the amount of hits I'm getting as well as vapor density. Temperature settings yield the same results either way. Anything under 11 o'clock doesn't produce much vapor and anything over 2 o'clock causes combustion.

I have not experimented as much with the transfer wand, but I imagine that I would get very similar results. I really have no desire to use the transfer wand. I have used it, but using the WPA is so much more enjoyable. I'll definitely be experimenting with my vapor tamer when it shows up tomorrow.

The PD sized bowl in the transfer wand , wont approach combustion, because you have removed the factor of restricted draw from a larger load~

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure that my LSV wasn't running colder than spec.
