Have you tried warming it up like with a hair dryer or something? The most common reason for it to get stuck is resin getting all sticky and funking things up... Though in your case you may have a bigger problem. Worth a shot though.

For those who have returned to ploom for a replacement, what was the turnaround time like? I just dropped mine at the PO this morning.
yeah thats how i got the plastic off. i wonder how long the inspection/replacement process is

Mel Samgour,
There's lots of meals that taste better as leftovers. Stew and chili come to mind, as well as almost any tomato-based dish. It doesn't work in this case, however. As I explained, you're right that the load really isn't as fresh.

LOL. I knew someone was going to say that! Any kind of noodles are usually better as leftovers I have found. But I was right! I just didn't know exactly why. Your description makes a lot of sense, though. I could logically determine why a conduction vape would not taste as well on a second round, but that makes sense why the same law would apply to a convection as well.

I feel kind of like Stan. I learned something today! ;)

Well, Pax does tend to change the way I look at the world! It's much less depressing for one!

To be clear, this is not a consequence of being a conduction vapourizer, it's a result of being a conduction vapourizer that has long warm up and cool off times and is always heating the oven when it's on. The MFLB is a conduction vapourizer and is an excellent one-hitter because it has almost 3-5 second warm up and cool down times. The flavour lasts longer in the LB than any other vapourizer I've tried.

If a convection vapourizer was always passing air over the load, you'd have the same issue. A convection vapourizer could also ruin the flavour with radiant heat if the load is above the heater and too close.

Found some great q-tips with a tapered end that are perfect for a quick dry swab after an oven to keep the Pax nice and shiny between sessions. The heads on these are perfect to clean the upper part of the air tube where the mouthpiece enters. I am working on the perfect "Pax Pac" (patent pending ) ;) I'll share soon, but it's coming together nicely. In the meantime, check out these q-tips.

This is why you need a backup, I recommend the MFLB.

NOMAD

Im seriously thinking of making that a xmas gift..

Is it really any good? Compare it to the Pax if you can.

P.S. I am done, just had a great breakfast. Eggs, sausage, wheat toast and a special chocolate chip cookie. :) And I woke up to a special chocolate chip cookie as well. Pax is still dearly missed.

My take on them:

MFLB Pros: Small, great taste, efficient, cheap, works very well, cloud production is possible, low maintenance, batteries easily replaceable

MFLB Cons (at least to me): I found it was a bit harder to pull out of my pocket and use on the go. The whole act of sucking on the straw while holding down a battery made me feel awkward at times. By on the go I mean walking down the street, taking a break from work/class, etc.

--You may find the bowl a bit too small for your needs, depending on your tolerance.

PAX Pros--Sleek, big clouds possible, easy to conceal, sexy, decent amount of hits per bowl (I get around 20), easy to activate and take a big hit out of

PAX Cons: A little bit more maintenance involved, fussy, taste is not as nice as MFLB, expensive, battery not user replaceable, not as efficient as convection

I started with the MFLB and moved on to the PAX and love it, despite its flaws. MFLB is a nice backup to have, although the SOLO is a strong contender in my books if you want something for just around the house or to take to a buddies place.

MFLB is convection?

Nope, it's conduction. But I find the flavour to be more convection like, once you learn how to draw from it, vs the PAX. It's also not always cooking your load like the PAX

Anyone know why Vapeworld stopped shipping Pax to Canada? Man am i getting frustrated with this whole shipping return process. I might just sell mine when it comes back. Cost me $25 to ship it too. FUCKKKKKKK COMBUSTION!

Hard to say...could be the cost of the return process or maybe a direct request from PAX? I know Planet Vape mentioned something about units being available around December...maybe it's related? I'm still waiting for my return to come back to me...

Tweek,
This is only my personal opinion, but I would not recommend the MFLB as a backup to the Pax. The MFLB was my first vape, and I liked it well enough for awhile, but then I got an iolite and was astounded at how much better it produced. It made the MFLB look like a toy. Then I got a Zap (log vape) and continued to find out just how much better vaping can be. I now have a Pax and it is even better than the Iolite.

I have since tried the MFLB again, and it was VERY unsatisfying to me. Yes, the taste is better (not as good as in my log and just slightly better than the Iolite) but the hits are just not enough for me. I find now the MFLB just doesn't get me where I want to be. It's just too limited in how heavy a hit you can get, and I like heavy hits.

I know a lot of people still speak highly of the MFLB, and it still has its place. It does conserve very well, and it works. For me, though, it is just not strong enough after experiencing heavier hitters like the Iolite, the Pax, and my home vape.

cant agree more!!!! i had a MFLB and i sold it cause it was WAY to hard to get a decent rip from it and the medicated feeling i got from it was more like a "buzz" and never lasted. There is a HUGE MFLB fan base out there but i am not one of them by any means. my PuffiT got me more medicated than a MFLB did and i sold that too. the SOLO is my #1 portable and although it's not super stealthy on it's own, but in a McDonalds cup it sure is!!! i went over to a friends house, cup in hand, walked in and it wasn't till i pulled the SOLO out of the cup that he even knew i had anything. he thought i just brought in a drink to sip on.

Glass Blower
not sure if this has been mentioned before, but a quick and easy water pipe adatper are those omicron silicone mouthpieces, then from there i just use SSV hose into my piece. on med with half a bowl gets me more ripped than just using it normally, small potent little rips

Hi folks, loving my Pax, but sadly back to the Whisper/MFLB due to carelessness:

Returning from the US-wide T break we call Thanksgiving, I found my uncleaned Pax MP stick for the first time. Being unprepared, I let the MP up too fast and watched it pop off and bounce into an unreachable spot. Its funny that the feeling I got when I realized what had happened was more like the deep gut dread that precedes getting jumped than the appropriate annoyed and mad-at-myself emotion that eventually took over.

I stared at the yellow light for awhile realizing that I had no way of turning off the Pax for the ride home. Since all it was doing was displaying charge-level, I assumed that it would take forever for the battery to drain from powering the LED, but by the time I checked again (maybe 4 hours later) the Pax was off.

My question: have I damaged my Pax by allowing it to discharge fully, or does it have a shutoff timer when in the "MP removed" state?

Many thanks for any info.

Yeah it will turn off without the MP after a few minutes. Where did your MP go though? You might be able to retrieve it with a magnet on a telescoping pole...

Nah, I vape in a service area that is essentially an elevator shaft without the elevator, so it would have to be a 10-story pole, sadly. I have 2 on order but VW is slammed from abv-Friday, I guess.

Thanks for the info, I guess my battery is safe, then.

Hey I just want to comment on my previous post, in which I was mad at my Pax. That was my first time using it exclusively for several days, while I visited my family over thanksgiving weekend.

It did cause me some embarrassment when I could not get the mouthpiece to stay closed in a public place. In fact I was in a museum, with my family! Just the fact that I was confident to do this tells you something about the Pax. To me the inconvenience of the stupid mouthpiece that seems to always be gummed up and sticking (except for a few minutes after I clean it) is far outweighed by the world of access it opens up for me. I have used the Pax in restaurants, two museums, a movie theater, and just walking around town. Basically I feel confident to medicate basically whenever and wherever I want, with this vape. I cannot say this about any other vape I own.

usage tips:
It's much better to take very long, slow pulls, or several little short puffers, or a combination of both. In a public situation it can be awkward to hold the Pax up to your mouth and slowly suck on it for 10-15 seconds, but this really is the way to get the most out of your flowers and battery life. For those impatient situations where you just want to take a quick big hit, you will need to turn the temperature up to high. You'll use up your battery a lot faster, and waste herb.

If you're not in a rush, leave that temperature on low for a while. suck as much juice out of that herb as you can on low, before you even think of turning the temperature up. Open the oven and stir it up a bit, maybe pack a bit more in and keep it packed like a nice little brick in the oven. Then, do this again on medium, and you'll get another little rush of bakedness. Repeat on high.

After you close the Pax, take another hit or two with the mouthpiece in.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I am fully confident in using the Pax in public. I've been asked what it is and I have taken to telling people it's a newly designed E cigarette that uses actual tobacco. Since there is no more smoking indoors smell is never an issue.

Dreamerr

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
You are brave in such public watched places. Herb smells no matter what and you are blowing out vapor. It has to smell. You use it in restaurants, two museums, a movie theater wow. I don't think I could ever do that.

will ploom accept my pax for an exchange if it has been used with something beside tobacco? the ligths are starting to go haywire and this thing seems to get stuck shut no matter how often it gets cleaned. its been a questionable experience with this device since day one :/
