The classic way tears seem to start is with physically messing with the deposits near the rails (where the tears start usually). Not necessarily the only way, but it's the one reported here when the owner has a clue to offer. My take is this transfers load (both mechanical and electrical) to the strands at either end of the tear. They might be OK with a strand or two but as the fault spreads so does the transferred load. Or loads really.

As to poor/inconsistent results with the box I seriously discount bud that's had 8 pulls in your PD. It could well be in the 1% range, producing zero output. Combustion, even with such spent bud, should be very rare and easy to avoid in normal uses. It must have smelled and tasted of burn popcorn a lot?

With good quality loads the box should give consistent performance, 'sometimes good, sometimes bad' needs looking into. It might be contact with the ring at the battery, a common issue. The light bulb is the key here to understanding it. What is it showing you?

Another, very important, thing is the herb you load. You want it well ground (so it will flow easily), on the dry side (you have to remove all the water to get any vapor) and properly filled (unpacked to the rails) for the best chances. And shake it regulary to keep fresh material against the screen. Remember almost all the action happens at the contact point. IR and other transfers really only lessen the heat loss at that surface, it's the only thing in there hot enough to make vapors.

There is a learning curve. Some guys will learn faster/easier than others. But as an adult you learn skill sets one step at a time. Children learn stuff (like multiplication tables) becase they were told to do so and repeated it. Not the way we do it, we have to build on what we know already step by step. So 'follow the results' with the vape. Try to repeat that which works again. Get it to repeat so you can control it.

And as the old joke about 'how do you get to Carnegie Hall?' goes......practice, practice, practice.

8 pulls and it works best for me, it's not up to much with nice stuff or whatever i do, i firmly believe my PD is miles better. yes the light was on high on, i have explained in first post ,and im far from stupid (just to add) ok i give up, thanks but no thanks.
Since noone has said "yes the light needs to be at its brighest or change all the times from 3 secs to 8 secs " etc , oh hang on this is doing my head in lol who needs this? selling it.

Damn Of,you pretty much summed up the basic MFLB rules in a single post. Should sticky it for the new comers. Is your background in teaching or science? You not only understand scientific method, but can articulate well enough so even I get it. My money is on multiple personality disorder. Either way, bravo!

Hey, OF... Why don't you make him memorize Pakalolo's vaporpedia entry like you made me do?

I'm gonna be pissed if you give him the secret handshake too easily...

:peace:
Yeah what gives? You and Pak made me send Skittles AND kill a rabbit! I loved that rabbit. Took him off the streets, got him of crack and in return he taught me how to poop little pellets. God I miss that rabbit.

Thanks very much, that was the hope in trying to answer overly broad demands like "Can anyone answer my other question about technique?". Sometimes you connect, sometimes you get blown off. Hopefully someone back in the cheap seats profits from eavesdropping?

Guilty of both, I'm afraid. Misspent youth you know. Back in those days we didn't know any better, we thought we were having fun.....

Thanks again. It's working OK, makes voting harder when the little voices don't stay focused. But we all have our crosses to bear, right?

Sorry about killing the rabbit first. Last time we made it a live chicken, don't ask what happened when we left Stu alone with the chicken......

BTW, the hasenpfeffer was delicious. It gave BDV gas though. Vitolo put ketchup on his......

No, not all of us, BDV is the windy one. And we're not all evil bastards, I'd put Vitolo somewhere between sick puppy and seriously twisted myself. That one's kind of a tough call, you know.

Bad break on the Skittles, though. Then again I'm more of am M&Ms type myself....

Thanks very much for the feedback, very nice to know there's 'collateral damage' going on as well.

Do you guys like using a whip/stem better than using the MFLB in native mode? I almost always use my vape in native mode since I seem to enjoy it more than using a whip/stem.

Thefalkon,
I go with a glass stem myself. It seems to cool the vapor a little and prevents the dreaded "resin on the lips" taste.:ugh:
It also helps me focus the vapor stream on my tongue to gauge the temp. so intake speed can be adjusted on the fly.
I'm also a total THC scavenger, and although the stem collects a just a little resin, every little bit helps.

I find I can be more stealthy using a stem. A shorty is stealthiest for me(wood shorties at that!)
A shorty stem helps guide the box to my lips, and provides a natural angle of the neck to make it appear natural... something about hitting it native breaks up the natural movements to me that I use to disguise my activity.
The wood shorty is best... because it eliminates any possible glass or acrylic "glare" should it be exposed temporarily to light of day!
Oh yeah... collection...
Here are some of my wooden ones from Ed's
(being lazy and using an older photo, there have been additions!)

I prefer the long whip .
It definitely cools the vapor better ...especially on multiple-trenches .
It collects more resin on the whip part , rather than in your mouth . imo
I also found it easier to watch my herb cook and to avoid combustion .
Plus lastly ,
I get crossed-eyed from using the stock stem over a length of time , that's just me .

So it was either shorten my time with the mflb or get the whip .
I think I made the right choice . :)

edit ;
I forgot the best one .
The long whip allows you to shake the box while still inhaling with the battery in .

Over the falls, in a barrel
When I ordered my box I got a walnut stem and the longest whip. I use the box native most, whip second, and with the stem the least so far. That said, I don't regret buying the whip or stem. Being able to rest my hand casually at my side while sitting or standing and using the long whip is nice, and it also helps for turning a handy 12oz bottle into a little water filtration if desired. Though, I certainly found that for a beginner, the more distanced you are from the action in the box, the greater risk you'll run of overshooting the temp a bit and combusting.

I've used the stem the least thus far but I really love the look of the walnut box + walnut stem, and Vitolo's talk of improving stealth with the stem has me intrigued... Definitely not counting that accessory out.

So really, I've loved the box no matter what mouthpiece is used. Can't wait to try the WPA and WPWA some time.

How do you clean it?
Mine it's getting dirty on the rubber part, on the inside

Please correct me if I'm wrong but don't I recall an 'early adopter' using a very long whip through a hole in his jacket pocket up inside to the collar to cop secret hits with the box in his pocket?

Now that's system flexibility with a capitol F if you asked me.

I like the 'spur of the moment' water tool idea as well. The bottle already is disguised......

I use 91% iso shaken through the whip, followed by hot water 9not boiling) and dish soap... followed by a rinse... then finally I suck it dry using a "shopvac' to remove spots and moisture.

I use a paper clip to reclaim the resin .
I uncurl and straighten the clip somewhat .
Then I heat up the clip with a lighter , reach inside the whip and scrape .
The heated clip helps in the removal of the resin .
I can usually get down 2 to 3 inches per end .
Then do the iso wash for the rest of the whip .

Hello,

I am posting because I have had problems with the MFLB plug-in adapter.

I contacted the MFLB company via email on October 2nd since I was having problems getting the adapter to continuously provide a charge to my MFLB unit. I had to twist it, and also press firmly, to get it to provide a charge, and the intensity of the charge has not been consistent.

On October 10th, MFLB emailed me back with both questions and suggestions. I heeded their suggestions (including using a paper clip in a very physically awkward and clumsy fashion to get, and keep, a charge), answered their questions, and sent them a reply email on October 12th.

Weeks went by and I received no reply, so I sent them an email on October 31st requesting a refund. I have still not received a reply, even after sending another email on Nov. 28th (yesterday) requesting a status update.

Since I have tried so many times to resolve this issue, and to no avail, I thought I should post here since I have seen MFLB representatives post here. Additionally, I am in the process of uploading a video that compares the consistent charges I get with batteries versus the sporadic charges I get with the quite expensive adapter.

Considering the cost of the adapter, I am very frustrated, and I would like to resolve this issue with MFLB. By the way, has anyone else had problems with their plug-in adapter?

Thank you all for reading, and I hope to hear from MFLB personnel if they are reading.

Howdy Philberto, good to meet you. Sorry you're having troubles.

I'm at a little bit of a loss here, what is it you want? If it's to contact MF, I don't think this is a good way, most of us contact them directly.

If it's to ask if other people have had this problem, yes several have. It's been worked out several times. As I understand it successfully each time.

If it's to try to get your unit fixed with the help and experience of those here (and I don't see that) we're going to need a little more information. What, specifically, seems to be the problem. In the past we've had troubles with the push button itself, the cable where it joins the body and the connection between the body of the insert and the ring in the box that makes contact with it. All have different causes and solutions.

What's your pleasure?

Also, if you notice... your PA has a serial number. Its got a warranty. They'll send you a new one. If its the connection in your box, you can warranty that instead. Heck... if you can be without your MFLB for a bit, you can send it to them and they will do the adjustment for you.

Slow down a bit and breath. :D

i've got i couple of questions regarding the accessories. inicially i just wanted to order the pa, since they only seem to sell it via their page. as i saw the new additions i thought, i might as well enlarge my shopping list, with christmas around the corner. :) i've allready got the original wpa, now i see, there is also a different one with a tube. can somebody explain me the pros and cons of both? further there is the new grinder, which has this usual classy appeal of the mflb products, but does it really do it's job better then a nano grinder?
