I am gonna stick with the purchase the optimist in me tells me I will get a problem free one.

One question, no matter how clean u get it do any of u get a bit scared sending it back in to Vape World if u need to?

Is there a consensus Best Practice in how to clean the Pax? I did a lot if searching and u r not to use Iso on the button inside to switch temp settings?

I have had my Pax for a couple weeks now and have used it daily and have had no problems yet. Also remember this thing comes with a 10-year warranty. I don't know many vapes or many things period that come with a 10-year warranty. And with the purported exceptional customer service, I feel confident with my purchase even if I do experience some problems.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
As stated before, why people get on to this forum (for the most part) is that they have an issue with their pax and they want to know what they can do to fix it.

I am a satisfied Pax owner. I love mine. It is perfect for me. I also enjoy cleaning mine, as some say "it is ritual". I also have found vaping so much better than combustion. I don't think I can go back.. People ask if I want to join then on a blunt.. or some shit like that. I normally pass as once I got used the the Vape, it has been hard to go back.

Also look at a Bong, that is a 300$ purchase, and you have to clean that regularly or "it doesn't work". You wouldn't return a bong just because it doesn't work.. you just clean it. So don't return your pax, just clean it. Granted, this is a bit different, but it is the same principle. If you clean and maintain your Pax, it will keep your lungs clean and maintain your mental status of.. Up.

I also see on here people who just get on and complain about how the Pax is broken, which is why I try to post nice stuff about it. If people get on here and read this thread, as I did when I was looking into purchasing a vape, people are going to start to look else where. I think this is one of the if not the best portable vapes out there. However if you read nothing but negative and problems, some are going to be turned away. So lets do our part and boost the morale of the Pax. We all know it has its issues, but so do we. Its just a conscious effort that makes this the best vape on the market. I think it is well worth 250$. Sure I would have like to pay about 175$ but, it is a new product from a new company, so I don't mind supporting them. Plus their customer service is unreal.

What process do u use to clean it? How do u use the dental pic?

I tried to find the page that Jams posted exactly where the dental brush goes but I was unsuccessful. So, I will try to describe to you the best I can. When you take the mouthpiece out and look at the temperature button, right below it is the steel vapor tube and outside of that tube will be the spring and the housing for the tube. You carefully insert the brush with or without iso inbetween the tube and the housing and clean that area. Mine has never come out real gunky but I have noticed that it does come out sticky every now and then. You can use a pipe cleaner in that area but I worry about the fabric fibers that might get left behind, you can't just blow that out the other end. Like most have said, it's like a ritual and I do enjoy taking care of Pax because Pax really does take care of me.

Cheers! Happy Paxing!

LMAO. At least you still got your screen though, even if you had to get messy.

I had 2 problems with the screen so far. One was emptying me oven outside the office, the screen popped out and I was playing wheres waldo for 10 minutes looking on the concrete for it. (Found it)

The other time was waiting for a taxi outside I emptied me oven and the screen fell on the pavement in the DARK!. I had to pull out my phones camera flash and stare at the floor for 5 minutes (Also found it)

I still didnt receive my replacement screens, I believe a follow up call will be happening shortly for my screens.
what is the live number to reach a person at pax? thx

I have a few questions (regrding the pax) I hope someone here can answer... what is the hit like/ how potent is it compared to smoking (bongs/ pipes) and what tempreture is best for vaping to get totally wrecked. I usually smoke once every fortnight so it wouldn't be a mean feat...

Thanks - my life flashed before my eyes when it was falling then spins towards the balcony opening. I saw the MP skip and fall and was like fuuuuuuuuuuuu - just got it YESTERDAY.

If you want to use your pax without the MP:
-Find tubing that fits like the MP and push it partially in, the catch will hold it.
-Find some kind of magnet (snapless closure, fridge, etc.) and hold it near 1cm above the X in a variety of positions until the light comes on, you don't need the magnet anymore.
-The pax will go into the temperature color mode because the tubing is not metal like the mouthpiece so find a paperclip and slide it down the alongside the outside of the tubing down so it touches the spring and the metal tube/stem (you might have to put the paper clip in first, and then the tube)
-But as a bonus you can put the other end of the tube in your mouth, or a bubbler, or a bong, etc.

It depends, I like low, it gives me a clear high, and I become productive. Med does the same, just doesn't savor the flavor. High gets me couch locked..

The pull is like a cigar, it works much better to take small, short puffs. Light puffs as you need to let the vapor build.. But not too light, as you have to get it up the tube.. Think about it like milking a bong.. you just need to take it slow, and it will treat you nicely.

Hi. First time poster but one of the few people to read all 224 pages. I felt like I had to post about my experience with the Pax.
I received it in September and I hated it. I felt like I didn't get high enough. It was very hard to inhale from it. Then after about 5-7 sessions I was getting the temp light issue and the mouthpiece would come out slooooooowly. Thanks to this thread though I can say things are much better now. The only problem I have now is that it wastes too much flower. These are the key points that I would like to help any new pax invester.
- Clean it every 2-3 sessions. No need to soak anything just dip the end of a pipe cleaner (I use zen hard bristles from Amazon very cheap) in some iso (91% anywhere very cheap) and run it through the body and mouthpiece.
- Rub the screen with a q-tip that was dipped in the iso on both sides. Also clean the oven with same q-tip.
- Dip metal part of mouthpiece in iso (make sure it isn't dripping) and click the mouthpiece 5-10 times.
- If your screen gets real grimey then wash it with warm water and soap. Mines was filthy and it does affect the vapor production.
- Don't mess with the spring! I tried cleaning that piece out and there was nothing there. I never clean out the gap between the air path anymore.
- Grind your flower very fine. Turn over your grinder and turn it for a good 3 minutes before putting it in.
- I would recommend filling the oven halfway or more. When you barely cover the oven you're not going to get very much vapor and just wasting it. Put a little more and figure out where you feel comfortable.
- Pack it TIGHT. I use the end of a sample of cologne (you know the little tube) and it works perfect.
- I start it on low take 2-3 hits then pack it down tight again (it always gets loose after a couple hits) then go to medium and keep going till I finish it off.
- You can go to high if you want but to me it taste like crap and it makes the PAX hot. I would save all the abv you go through and if you ever are low on your stash you can just pack a full oven of abv put it on high and enjoy. It will mess you up believe me.
- When you hit it, take a little puff to see if it is ready. You might have to wait 10 more seconds after green before you start to get vapor.
-Inhale SLOOOOOOOOWLY. This cannot be stressed enough. If you can't hit it slowly then just start it on Medium. Some of my friends cannot hit slowly. They are big guys and they just can't do it. So I put it on Medium and tell them to take small puffs. Then I finish on High.

I hope this helps people who are on the fence or have just bought the Pax.

tl;dr The pax should come with an instruction manual of what I just posted. It needs to be kept clean and used very specifically. It treats you right if you treat it right but will use more flower than other avenues. I would not recommend the Pax. I would wait for a convection vape. But if you don't mind using more flower due to stealthiness (concerts, work etc.) then the Pax is for you.

Thanks for all the posters who have helped me through the ups and downs. I hope this helps someone.

Ya..I still can't use my brand new PAX. Mouthpiece, still will not come out, can't figure out a way to break it out. I had forgotten that after seeing some of Jams' pictures showing her improvised "tool & storage", which is a paper clip in the mouthpiece attached to the magnet(I think, correct me if I am wrong my phriend), I remember I thought that it was clever when I first saw it(before I owned a PAX). Late one evening I randomly decided I'd do the same thing with my new PAX. I forgot I had done this, until today).
When I went to use the PAX days later, the mouthpiece would not "pop-out", which I already posted about. I guess
I should assume that the paperclip moved out of its position..& is now placed in a manner that is keeping the mouthpiece from being 'pushed-in' 100%, & therefore is causing my STUCK mouthpiece(broken PAX, basically). Does anyone think this is the source of my problem? How far does the mouthpiece travel "downwards" before popping out, for current owners? I just wouldn't have thought a skinny paperclip could be large enough to keep the mouthpiece from being able to "dis-engage". Uhg. If this is the case..then I doubt it will be covered in warranty, but I can hope. :(

Maybe some of you have done the same 'mod'? I hope it's not the cause, but possibly..:doh:

I did the exact same thing, made up a little pax tool that fit conveniently under the mouth piece and i could pack and clean the pax with until about a session later i go to turn it on and its jammed shut. i was pretty PO'd but after doing everything in my power to get it unjammed without force i just decided to go for it. Put your thumb over the side of the mouthpiece where the airtube is and just slowly press down. It took quite a bit of force for me so press down at your own risk but eventually it just popped back up for me and without any visible damage to the mp or pax itself. Needless to say i never used that little paper clip thing again. hope this works kind of a blunt approach but it worked for me

Same for me but I still use the paperclip, it's just so damn convienient and I had success by tapping sideways to "unjam" the paperclip.

Guys,

I googgled but wasn't able to find an answer.
Pax is designed for use with loose leaf, but what about pressed "leaf"? Is it ok to use this device with it?

Thank you!

wqx,

Deadshort480

We're here to fuck shit up.
What is pressed leaf? As long as its ground up then the Pax should be able to accept any kind of leaf.

Edit: Kief which has been compressed in a pollen press is best used with some flower in the Pax, in my experience.

Nice job. The Giants destroyed the Pack last night. Unlike the Pax, which I bet destroyed you. LOL

Also, I know Pax kept you warm because it mustve been freezing.

Nice! This is really where the Pax shines, I think. It is the perfect out-and-about vape because no one will give it a second look as it looks like some kind of Apple product. I guess that was a great game...unless you're a Packers fan! lol

What the hell is "pressed leaf"?

Awesome picks of the Giants game (destroyed the pack... but where was this team in Cincy?>!)

Anyway I wanted to chime in about the negativity some are seeing here and how it is affecting people's desire to own the Pax... wanted to give my perspective.

First, I should note that while not nothing, $250 isn't an insane expenditure for me. I often spend far more than that on flowers for me and the wife in a week. So while not cheap by any means, it isn't a purchase that broke the bank - so my perspective may be a little different.

Anyway, the most important thing to remember IMO is that the PAX is a PORTABLE. Most portables aren't really meant to fully replace a 'full-size' vape like extreme Q or whatever you use (I have an Herbalaire and love it). Anyway my point it, with a portable there is always a tradeoff. Since the Apple comparison is so popular with the Pax, I can use it again to compare: when you buy a macbook pro, you spend more money to get less computer than say an iMac. But it's portable. If it breaks, fixing it will be more difficult than the full size (ok maybe the imac isn't a good comparison here since it is also pretty proprietary but still) and more expensive, but the tradeoff is worth it for the portability of the laptop.

The Pax is a BRILLIANT portable device. Is it perfect? No of course not. But I will never go back to using a 'bat' or fake cigarette or whatever you call it. I had to clean those just as often as my Pax, and it was a much bigger pain in the ass, and FAR more conspicuous.

The Pax is perfect for what I needed - a discreet portable that I can use quickly in a place where smoking would get me in trouble! For that, it works perfectly. I'm willing to deal with the tradeoffs (cleaning, finicky mouthpiece) because it works. The 10 year warranty added that bit of comfort that if it broke it would be fixed (that right there put it over the top for 'worth it' to me - I doubt I'll need this thing for 10 years!).

That said I am sending my Pax back today because of the temp button problem. It is stuck real good after 2 months or so (I know not to get ISO on it, but apparently somehow I did). Ploom responded to my initial email within a few hours, and within 24 I had a pre-paid shipping label to return it. Hopefully the turnaround will be as quick, but so far I'm pleased with the service.

Thanks to all who have shared their tips on cleaning and whatnot - has helped a lot and is why I always come here to read before I even think about buying a Vape.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
I think that the ten year warranty and the pre-paid shipping labels are a great plus for this device. This is especially true if you have other vapes as back-ups.

At this point in time, if you didn't purchase directly from Ploom, you don't get a pre-paid label. I had to pay to ship mine back. Of course YMMV.

So I've had my pax for a couple of days now and I love it. I'm a total combustion to vape convert, but I have one question: Is the screen supposed to be perforated? My screen is a solid piece of metal with no holes in it. I don't see how I'm getting vapor through it besides the corners where there are gaps. Is that how it is supposed to be? I can see the indented design on the screen but they aren't deep enough indents to form holes. I can flip the screen over and it's completely solid, no holes. The Pax is working, and working fairly well, but I wonder if I'm missing out on something.
