Don't worry, I'm not going to forget anyone. I've got a list that I'm gradually working through :)
Hazy,
Am I on your list? I honestly don't remember if I got on it or not, but I know that I intended to. Maybe if you didn't get an actual email from me, you read my thoughts?

:peace:

Stu I would love to have you on my list but I never received a PM from you. As for reading your thoughts... I have trouble reading my own thoughts most of the time :p Unfortunately all the beta pods have been allocated. I've been getting a few enquiries so I will be doing another run after the beta testing but I will be charging the full retail price by that stage (don't worry, it won't be anything extortionate!). I should have a proper website up by then where you will be able to order online.

Oh i got my email!!!
Yes, Ed!
Once you've fallen under the Pod's spell, I'm hoping it will inspire you to spin some Pod specific wood stems!
I was mentioning to Hazy last night that I was enjoying my last few hours of being the only person on the planet using a Hot Pod thru a water device(Hazy doesn't have a water piece)!
But I look forward to the company!
Happy Thanksgiving to my American brethren and Happy equivalent celebration of stealing your home from the previous dweller, to the rest.

Vid tomorrow, pics later tonight, first impressions later tonight ;)

EDIT:
It's plugged into the VVPS now, heating up at 12v :)
EDIT2:
Just did a couple of test draws through an empty stem to check draw/heatup times.
It looks like it's gonna get up to temp pretty quick, and the draw doesn't seem too bad - more details after I've vaped a few stems
I do like the way the stem seals with the pod - It feels good.
It fits well in the hand, it's a bit smaller than I was expecting, pretty comparable to a Solo.

Well done Hazy
EDIT3:
Pics

Aww, I can't keep editing :(

I got a GG and a HL Stem.
The HL had a bit of nice thick silicone tubing around it, which fits snugly into an 18mm female joint
I found the 2 have the same performance, no real change of draw or vapor production with them :)
It may just be me, but I wasn't entirely happy with a stem at 12v.
for my 2nd stem I bumped it up to 13v, and that gave me quite nice performance.
I bumped it up a little bit more, maxing out at 13.5v, and it's performing nicely :D
I'm not sure if it's my strain, or just my vaping habits, but most logs I've got seem to be best for me at 13-13.5v, so I'd still recommend starting at 11.5-12v for your first stem.

I was using my DG mini can, and it was stacking nicely, the draw was slightly restricted, but nothing major. It wasn't as free flowing as the LSV, but it felt close.
I'll need to test it with other glass, but it's looking promising :brow:

What a guy!
I'm glad to hear your first impressions Fred. I usually have my Zap running at 13.90-14. So kinda on the high side. I'm interested in comparing the 2.

Thanks for sharing Fred! And a special thanks for using larger pics instead of those tiny linked ones too

I have requested the GG and HS myself btw.

Is there much difference in capacity between the HL and the GG?

Nope, they have the same ID, and you can adjust the screen position, so the only reason they would have different capacities is if you moved the screen.

There should be about 1mm difference between the two stems. There is about 0.5mm variation in the glass, so the GG has an ID of 8.5 - 9mm, and the HL has an ID of 9.5 - 10mm. I remember that the GG I gave Fred is at the upper end in size, not sure about the HL. It's entirely possible that the HL is at the lower end, so maybe it's only half a mm bigger and therefore barely noticeable.

Thank you for your first impressions Fred  I agree the draw does have a slight restriction to it. In the first prototypes I was using thinner glass for the heater tube so the ID was more open and the draw was completely unrestricted. However I found that it was easy to break the glass when assembling/disassembling the pod. Moving to thicker glass has made the ID smaller and the draw now has a small but noticeable restriction to it. As a direct draw user, it's not something that makes any difference in practice, so I'm interested to see what you glass users think. The fact that you needed to turn up the voltage is also interesting. I actually started testing these pods at around 13.5V, as this is close to what I used to run my PD at. It took me a month or so before I decided to try a lower voltage, and funnily enough I got the same results at 12V :\ so it seems that voltage is less of a factor when using direct draw. It may also be something to do with the way I use the pod. I've noticed when I hand it around to friends the ABV is often a lot lighter than mine for example.

Whoops, I guess there is a smidge of difference
It certainly isn't noticeable without close inspection then haha.
EDIT:
I just checked closely, my 2have the same OD, and the HL is a bit thinner for its wall, so it would have a slightly larger bowl volume.

12v gave me sorta small clouds, and started getting my ABV a light brown, whereas the 13-13.5v gave me pretty big clouds, and quite dark ABV (which I was trying to achieve).

I've also gotta experiment with load size/packing but I did a test of a tiny "one hit" amount last night. I had my pod at 13.5v, pushed the screen of my HL to about 1mm from the end (close to the heater), and put a bit of bud in there.
I got 1 nice cloud, and a moderate cloud after a quick stir and the load was done. So you guys after efficiency with tiny loads shouldn't be disappointed.

My current technique is get my screen where I want it for the load, scoop thestem through my bud so it loosely fills to the top of the stem, and then draw.
To stir, I push my stirring tool through the bud so the screen lowers a little bit, so the bud won't fall out while I'm stirring. Then I put my finger over the top of the stem, and use my stirrer to push the screen from the bottom back up to the top so that the load is at the top of the stem for the next hit.

I have to admit I'm not satisfied unless my ABV comes out almost black. I don't know if I'm getting much extra out of it, but that's what I've always done...

Sounds like you're getting your technique figured out. I like to pack my loads down a bit so I can get big clouds :)

EDIT: I don't stir either. I've tried tapping it out and repacking it but I have hardly ever got any more vapour out of it.

I forgot there is a handmade-factor with these too

Your stir-process sounds a bit fiddly though, as it is with all narrow and/or shallow bowls. I use a tiny glass (dab) dish to just dump the load to stir it with my CRZ stem, perhaps that would be a bit less cumbersome Fred? It's probably just a matter of what you're used to though, we all have our own little methods I guess.

I too like my ABV very very dark btw.

I'm getting impatient from talking about this...

It's actually not that bad, sometimes I just cover the top of the stem with my finger after inserting my stirring tool and stir away, but I like sliding the screen around a bit as well :)
(if this post didn't make sense, blame the UFC drinking game , I've been typing this for like 20 mins...)

BTW, Vid to come soon, I just want to get the pod a bit more dialed in... Gotta have this sexy beast in it's full glory on video

Oh, and I thought this was cool, I showed a buddy my Hot pod (nicknamed MiPod , I got an ipad the same day as the pod arrived and nicknamed it MiPad, so it sorta fitds ) and he though it was really cool... He called it "a collectors item".
I got an audible "wow" from him when he saw it .
For reference, this buddy knows all about vaping (from observing me ), but isn't qall to interestd in it, he will vape every now and again, but he's a combuster primsrily.

I dont know if I'm just biased because hazy is a fellow aussie, but the hot pod is legit. (if you're not an aussie and you get this following reference, you deserve a cookie ) Thorpie would call it "fully sick" :lmao:

Aesthetically, it's my favourite of the logs Ive owned (CRZ, UD, WW, and the pod), it's just so unique... and Australian (did I mention I like that?)

Anyways, that's enough from me , GSP vs Carlos Condit id about to start

EDIT:
I was thinking about the higher voltage required for use through glass vs direct draw thing, maybe there's just a naturally higher draw rate through glass vs direct darw?
Just a thought:shrug:(why is there no emoticon of a man wisely stroking his beard? lol)

FC has a drinking game? Are you guys doing that on skype or something?

You still make plenty of sense anyway, Fred. Well, except for the fact that urban dictionary claims 'fully sick' originates from Lebanon perhaps :p

In my experience you usually draw the air over the heating element quicker via a water-device than without. It should depend on the design though, but you have more different ones of those to test that with then I :)

Will you just order that thing already Hazy, or do I have to send you mine

So that this isn't completely off topic, I just got my new VVPS hazy posted (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/r...upplies-for-log-vapes.4918/page-6#post-296559) and I like it.
I've only used it for1 sesh so far, but its nice. It kept its voltage well ( other VVPSs I've had started dropping voltage when they got hot), and I love how compact it is
